Kunos Ultimate Guide to getting whatever fucking gear you want

I'm starting to believe the region thing is a load of crap. I spent 2 calls trying to get Windy gear in Horotoro ruins today. Windy had it, they had almost complete dominance. After 2 calls I notced I got rse boots and pants, with other misc sandy and bastok pieces. "WTF" I said, and I'm sure this has happened to other people. I didn't get a single windy piece after 2 calls.

I got a fresh new Tactics, and I went to just regular old West Sarutabaruta. I beat up stuff for a while. After the first 3 calls, I noticed I stopped getting beastmen armors, which was a definate plus. I did get a few windy pieces, pants and gloves at some point however they went away as I got mostly Sandy and Bastok pieces. On the 3rd call in W Saruta I even manged to get to level 2 Bastok armor (chainmail!). Wtf! On the last call, I decided to just kill windy based mobs. I went from completely random crap to lvl2 Windy body and lvl1 windy everything else.

    So what the F happened..
I am under the theory that all mobs have a certain 'nation' assosiated to it. On my last call, the only one that benefited any sort of improvement to Windy gear, I targeted Mandies, Crawlers and Yagudo. When I leveled in Moval for my scorp harness, I noticed I was getting a ton of beastman and a few sandy. Now I can see it was easy to level it up cause I killed alot of goblins and moblins, and the bats were the problem that led to the random sandy piece. I must have gotton to level 2 bastok today because I targeted many bee's, which must be bastok based. The random sandy pieces must have been the poor rarab's I was decimating.

It's pretty easy to come up with a list of what mobs are related to each region. The best way IMO is to think of what mobs you see on the path to jeuno from each starting city. Also expansion zones can be thought up in the same way. Sahagin would be bastok, Tonberries would be windy, Anticans would be sandy and Moblins/Bugbears would be beastmen.

Well then, I'm currently lvling in cape terrigans on raptors and cockatrices, and no matter what country has control, I end up with low lvl sandy pieces mixed in ruining everything. But when sandy is in control, sandy armor just shoots up with nothing else interferring.

I did 4 calls in San d'Oria controlled Kuftal and progressed up what the Allakhazam thread says is the Windurst tree of gear for all slots. I had my NPC set to Soothing Healer, and guess what Allakhazam has Windurst's gear listed as, mage gear, with Noble's Tunic being the top of the list. YMMV

I did the same thing today, with my 1 charge of Signal pearl. Body went up to lvl 3 and feet went to level 2 windy (hands and pants still lvl1 windy). No more random bastok/sandy/beastmen shits.

Last night I did 3 calls in a Windurst area and he got to level 3 Windurst, so it was actually working for once. But the last like 15 calls at Boyahda did nothing of the sort. And we were killing almost nothing but goobbue which would be considered a Bastokan mob if anything I'd think.

Maybe different mobs in different zones have different nationality attributes to them? Cause so far killing the same type of mob in the same zone produces only 1 set of gear advancement. ;x

Well we killed a few Korrigan too which are windy based, but by far more goobbue. Hell if I know, I don't care what he wears anymore.

goobs would be bastok, since Goob are on the bastok line to jeuno (Passhow and Rolanberry).

I think you just had some random fuckup's kuno...

I lvled exclusively in Xarcabard/Zvahl for like 7-8 summons. It was windurst controlled, but sando dominant at the time. I xped on skeletons/Gigases in Xarcabard, and then moved into the castle for orcs/yagudo...and the DC demons when I was w/ friends.

    After those 7-8 summons, I was in Trader's Saio (W2), Bracers (W4), Seer's Slacks (W3) and Field Boots (BST2).

Of course, that all got fucked up when I did Blighted Gloom (Ordelles, controlled by bastok at the time), and then lvled in Altep (Sando at the time) and my NPC is now wearing Lizard Jerkin (BAS1), Bracers (W4), Scale Leg + Boots (S1). I dont get how one summon and one quest changed 3 pieces

I'm having great success killing the same thing in the same zone over and over again. Maybe mandies in saruta give windy gear and mandies in boyadha give something else cause I'm having great results so far.

Also if you actually read my post Nynja, killing all those random shits would give you weird gear, like I said.

    if you read my post:

I xped on skeletons in xarcabard to progress through windurst gear. I then killed ORCS, to progress further through windurst gear, and I did progress through windurst gear.

by your theory, I must ask:
Worms ?? Gusta + Ronfaure, also found in giddeus.
How about if you fight Bugard's in tavnzania ?? What would those register as ??
How about Crawlers ?? They're in Saruta, but in the end they have a dungeon found in a "bastok area".
What if you xp your npc on Taurus mobs ??

Here's exactly how NPC armor works, at least in my experience.

There is absolutely no randomness in the system. There are three variables that will affect the armor that your NPC changes into.

    1. Regional Control
    2. Regional Influence
    3. Mob Crystal Type

These "random resets" that people are experiencing are a result of killing mobs that drop crystals that do not correspond to the armor that they desire. The crystal/nation combinations are as follows:

    Windurst: Water Crystal (tested)
    Beastmen: Dark Crystal (tested)
    Bastok: Earth Crystal (untested)
    San d'Oria: Fire Crystal (untested)

So, as an example, say that you wanted your NPC to have a Noble's Tunic, and wanted to know the optimal leveling area. The answer, of course, would be Sarutabaruta, since it often has both Windurst control and dominant influence. However, you can't just kill anything in Sarutabaruta, and expect your armor to progress properly. You must kill only Crabs, Pugils, and water-based monsters to avoid resets.

Using this method, my armor has progressed along the Windurst path for seven calls in a row, with absolutely no resets or changing to other paths.

Hope this clears up the mystery for everybody.

I havn't made a category for every mob saying what armor they give idiot, just giving examples of how it might work. My main point is that killing the same mob (in one zone, same mobs might vary in other zones) = one set of armor. I havnt fought every mob in every zone 10+ calls to figure out what goes where. But apparently killing the same 3 mob types in Sarutabaruta is yielding only Windy gear for me.

I dont believe the crystal thing cause when I wanted scorp harness I slaughtered Moblins + kin and I got it pretty easily.

The crystal factor is far smaller than the Regional Control and Influence ones. But, occasionally, the crystal type of the mob that you are killing may change your NPC's armor to that type. I have tested this with both Beastmen and Bastokan armor.

Well I'm 100% positive that isn't true because I got to lvl 6 beastman killing moblins (fire crystals), and the random bats (wind) I would kill gave me sandy. While the yagudo (wind also) I kill at saruta have been giving me windy gear, as well as the crawlers and mandies (both earth).

    SE just needs to fix it and make it solely on who currently owns the area at the given time. Getting tired of him being forever in level 1 armor when he's about to hit 62 ; ;

I'm not going to discount anything about crystals or mobs belonging to one country or another. I have been in Oldtown Movapolis trying to get demon harness and zodiac subligar for Zoldof recently, when I killed bats and bombs I would occasionally get sandy parts, when I stopped killing them to focus only on Goblins, Moblins, and Bugbears I only get Beastmen upgrades and they happen a lot more frequently.

There definitely is more going on here than just regional control/dominance.

4 straight calls in Toraimarai Canal (windurst/windurst) on makara / big claw =
    Wool Robe (Windurst 5)
    T.M.Cuffs (Windurst 6)
    Trader's Slops (Windurst 2)
    Socks (Windurst 4)

There was only progression in windurst, no regression. This supports the crystal theory as well though, since both mobs drop water crystals. I'll see what happens as I'm heading up with friends and were gonna do some "harder" stuff: starmites, doom bones, and possibly leeches if theres another group up there. Both primary targets drop earth though.

to the best of my recollection, we killed:
    9 leeches (water)
    2 giant bats (wind)
    9 skeletons (earth)

    Currently wearing:
    Wool Robe (Windurst 5)
    RSE1 Gloves (Beastmen 1) (NOOOOOOO RESET T_T)
Seer's Slacks (Windurst 3) (progress in windurst)
Chestnut Sabots (Windurst 5) (progress in windurst)

I finally quest done and got the tactics Manual Might for Nanako.
after using it and changing the job to Feirce Fighter, and go out trying it out. What is the difference? All I noticed was that she says "I am all warmed up" (something like that), and after a long while then she does her WS. Am I missing something? I just don't see any difference, I think the normal Attacker Style is better off.
Could someone give me an insight about these new extra jobs?
