Our LS is doing this NM Saturday when we hit Qufim. But I think everyone here is taking the wrong approach. The nms that weaken the Gigas are spread too far out, and in the long run don't weaken him at all that much. Last time we fought him, our mages died quickly, but our melee with nothing but /nin managed to take him down to about 65% in 10 minutes. I think what's more important than clever sacrificial pulls that enable you to beat 3 nms and then zerg the boss at the end, is just getting to boss ASAP and devoting as much time as you can towards defeating it. Kill the kraken (to nerf its regen), and go in with some organization.
Have somb blms to stun its TP moves (and nuke tier 2 maybe...3/4 not worth it given its resists), and some melee with bard support to slowly and steadily rip it apart.
The trick here isn't to weaken and zerg it...this is not the DL. We *tried* the rdm/drk chain stun approach last time. And ya know what happened? He laughed, and 30s later his range attacks had killed all the mages (that and some ice bombs that someone managed to magically aggro). Sure, stun landed...but he was still getting off his range attacks, and even with 5 rdm/drks lined up to go every minute, we weren't killing him fast enough (and yes, we had 2 hours, icarus wings, soul voiced minuetx2 etc).
So what happened after his range attacks killed our mage line? He turned his attention to the melee. And since we were all at melee range, he didn't do anymore of those nasty aoe range attacks. Our 2 nin/war and 1 war/nin managed to tank him, without haste, cure, or anything, for a good 10 minutes.
So my new strat is this...get the subjob ???, get the kraken, and get our asses to the NM ASAP. Kill those goblin statues that surround him, and have EVERYONE (mages too) close in to melee range. Set a stun order and have blms watch for its TP moves, and set up some chains. It'll be a long fight, I'm guessing 25-30 minutes. But I think entirely doable. To be safe I may have 2 rdm/drk to chainstun at the end, in case it has a last minute frenzy mode.
Well one problem with that stragy...his Slam move (forgot name, gigaslam maybe?) would decimate your mages and alot of your melees (I saw my screen filled with 1200+ dmg on melee with it) so have mages in melee range would be bad if he gets one off.
you did read the bit about blms to stun tp moves, right?
You have read the bit about even while chainspell stunning he still gets tp moves off, right? Lag, delays, a blm not paying attention. I am a blm, and I can tell you in over 2 years playing this game, I have never met a blm that payed attention the whole time, even if lives depended on it, people die because at some point, someone will miss their stun for many reasons, your point?Originally Posted by Nicholas
I got 1 heal, so of course I died. Also I didn't have high def and we didn't kill bat NM so it was rocking me for 700 damage a go.Originally Posted by Nicholas
Mages will get raped by AE unless you're planning on them subbing NIN. Blink doesn't work on any AE.Originally Posted by Nicholas
As far as I saw it's moves are unstunnable, they're instant use or close enough it doesn't matter.Originally Posted by Nicholas
3 melee hitting it is quite a different thing than 13. You could keep shadows with 3, but it's going to spam TP moves with more people hitting it.Originally Posted by Nicholas
A decent RDM could probably pull statue NM without sacrificing if the DRK elemental was down. I think all you need pullers who are prepared and you can do all the NMs without much of a problem.
have you ever fought a gigas ??Originally Posted by othellojr
grand slam isnt instantaneous...
Stun was working fine on him...the problem is it didnt stop his range attacks because those were't tp moves you could stun. Watching for a TP move and stunning it so no different then stunning meltdown.
And Flux...by closing in close he WONT range attack, therefore that aoe range won't hit melee.
And I said 3 melee were tanking him, all 15 melee were engaged and doing fine. He didnt start picking them off until the mages were down.
Oh...and he never did any aoe attacks on the melee.
look at my avatar isnt he a cutie?![]()
Theres a panther eating his head![]()
sheep body...tiger head...taru face...this just get wierder..almost as bad as a galka.....
yeah, well...this is where I post my "Nynja's title: Dynamis-Qufim interloper" image, but unfortunately some people in my DLS are pussies who log out midfight (*cough*Flux*cough*) so it'll have to wait till next time.
our next go at his fatass is Feb. 11, so I'll have that image on Feb. 11 :D
This is where I would post "Flux's title: Dynamis-Qufim interloper" but unfortunatly some people in my LS swear up and down they can stun Grand Slam and then don't (*cough* Nynja *cough*). Had you not trained us with bombs last time we probably would have won then however this strat of standing everyone around the mob and stunning doesn't work, especially when the BLM can't/won't/don't stun.
We killed Kraken and water elemental only. My stun landed well, lasted for a much longer time on him than my stuns were on the Gigas I was testing out in Qufim before we zoned into Dynamis, which is interesting. Gravity landed as well, but didn't last it's full duration.
We had 8 or 10 blm whose sole job was to stun Grand Slam, they were arranged in pairs in a stun chain and were in the same alliance. We made two attempts and both lasted all of a minute before all the BLM were dead... by Grand Slam... which was never stunned.![]()
blm's died because a certain little manthra red mage was standing outside of anataeus's melee range, and when they pulled hate, Antaeus chucked a slab of stone filled with land mines, which upon detonating on this little manthra red made, it blew up killing every one around him. This happened on two attemps in one run, and both times the little manthra red made proceeded to /log out, because 600xp*2 is oh-so-precious to a red made...
This reminds me of those climactic scenes in a movie when the hero and the heroine yell at each other, and their faces get closer...and closer to eachother...until their passion eventually turns into lust.
So I think everyones wondering this. When are Nynja and Flux gonna make out?
