brutal earring ftw.
65+ will drop from NE apoll. pretty easy with 6.

Even hundreds of gilsellers could not make the price drop, the various items are simply too awesome. Every melee wants a brutal, every mage wants a loquacious, every tank and soloer wants a boxer's... Now combine that with most end-game people having 1 job at 75 in each category and basically everyone wants everything, except those retarded attack mantles. Hell, if people had the coins I bet they're go for Flawless Ribbon too.
We have like 8-10 people in Sauromugue selling them at once already, so unless people will still be buying copious amounts of them I don't see how they could stay high for too long.Originally Posted by FFXIFlux

Beastman gil drops and quest rewards are not adjusted for inflation, so much money is taken out of the economy every day by chocobos, Auction House Fees and Outpost warping. The confusion is how are people getting richer and richer, it made sence at first when NAs would get their first 75 job, and could farm in ways they previously could not, but now it should just be NAs trading money back and forth for various services and drops, when it's obvious the NA community has gained somewhere in the neighborhood of a billion gil in the last 6 months.Originally Posted by Demetrios

Ask yourself why Scorpion Harness, which is tradeable and doesn't leave the game often (unlike EX ancient beastcoin rewards), has been in the game forever, has like a billion on the server, and is in a slot with quite a few alternatives, is going up in price and often sells immediatly on AH. Despite all of that the demand for them is still high. Now look at the multiple rewards for ancient beastcoins... the demand will ALWAYS be there for them. 20M is cheap for Locquacious, Brutal and Boxers.
Next new job in Treasures of A.U. : Pirate, with JA Giltoss. Yes, they'll be the first ones to beat AV!! haha... yeah right!Originally Posted by thompkinsthebrian
Inflation come from NPCs, monsters, and chests. Items put on AH don't make inflation. If gil sellers monopolize all the items and sold them, that isn't inflation.
There is only one hurtful source of inflation... treasure chests and mobs don't drop enough gil to be hurtful...
crafters.
Crafters sell to NPC in mass numbers. This creates gil.
Gil sellers doing limbus would hurt inflation.
Further more, every time you sell to a NPC, you are assisting inflation. Everytime you buy from a NPC, you are hurting inflation. Dynamis, limbus, chocobos, and ect hurt inflation.
The amount of money put into the system by the whole rusty/padded cap thing, is too large an amount ever to be extracted from the system ever. =/
You got it ding. Fish botters afk turning in padded caps and rusty buckets introduced billions of gil into the system which inflated the hell out of everything. I know of one person on my server who had 2 accounts running 24/7 fishbotting. He had gun and bow on 3rd stage and easily 200 mil in equip and about 400 mil in gil on his account when he quit. I know who has his account now too lol. He was not the only person like this on our server. They basically made SE print new currency which makes inflation happen. New gil introduced into the economy via NPCs from that quest was a huge exploit and has already ruined the game.
As mentioned, anyone who farms and sells the items to an NPC brings gil into the economy; it's not on the scale of crafters, but that's one of the main ways it happens.
As for the gil sellers in Sea or Limbus, they won't really do a lot economically, so far at least. In both Limbus and Dynamis, it's essentially a closed economy; you spend a lot of time/exp to get items, but those items can only be turned in to create or improve Rare/Ex equipment. (In theory people could sell a chance at getting items in there, but that's a lot of hassle in a place with such low drop rates.) Buying the required items, whether they be Ancient Beastcoins or Dyanamis coinage, doesn't do much except shuffle gil around between players.
The primary problem with inflation in FFXI is that there isn't a big enough spigot removing gil from the economy. Ironically, if they made Dynamis and Limbus more accessible (people going into them more than once per 3 days for the entire set), it would drain gil faster from the economy; 50k a pop per character adds up, eventually.
What really needs to be done is to introduce some serious high end bonuses that people can buy, either for items or other bonuses (personal chocobos with a weekly cost, anyone?) The Vir Subligar was a nice start, but is to high in cost and too specific in use to practically remove a lot.
This isn't exactly a new problem; people have been dealing with inflation in MMOG for 20 years. Of course, that doesn't mean much; if S-E was actively interested in learning from the mistakes and successes of previous MMOG... they'd be making WoW, not FFXI.
WoW with good plot**
Uh anyway, yeah, caps 'owned' the market. SE needs to add something so gil-burning and so fun, that it would destroy the black grip of inflation forever: "Pet!" or "Chocobo Farming!". Make the first few 'upgrades' easy to obtain, then make it get harder and harder(and more worth it!) until it reaches relic level. Have the miniquest reward you with rare/ex gear that would replace a lot of the inflatious(uh... is this a word >.>?) items.
But, this makes too much sense. They could have done the same thing for Relic+1.
Anyway... fantasy post >.>
Septimus saves FFXI from Inflation.
Square makes Dynamis currency buyable from a Goblin NPC somewhere. Limit it to 50 EX currencies available every time you do Dynamis for 20k each (2 million gil a week for 100 singles), it would take 179 weeks (3.4 years) and 358 million gil to get enough currency to fully upgrade an Excalibur (for example) if you solely relied on NPCs for money.
You're welcomed Square, I will take my payment in Galkas.
Hmmm ima make a thread for this. Get back on topic guys!
