Youre right I did leave four months ago Zalasta, did I wanna leave NO....I wish I was still playing to be honest but there are certain things that we have to give up when shit happens IRL. The reason I posted this? I was thinking about coming back due to friends contantly bugging me but after seeing this there would be no possible way I could do that.

When I talk to my friend and he says Snipers are 4 mill and O. Kote is 8.5 mill it made my decision of coming back very easy.

Anyway what the fuck happened to you lol, my number is still the same pick up the damn phone you lazy bastard.

Trying to start the game now w/o rmting would be impossible, so Square either encourages rmting or doesn't want new customers.

Time to drop all my gil on the remaining items that can be classified as good and store them away for future use. This is why I can't ever level a mage job outside of bard, the cost of buying fully new sets of gear would drive me to rmt.

I have two jobs at 75 with only rare/ex stuff left on it and if I tried to come back I don't think I could with the economy the way it is, so for someone coming back starting from level one would be IMPOSSIBLE. I do miss the friends I had in game but I think if I started again I would be so frustrated trying to farm for gear I would wind up quitting again.

Which is why I feel that either the XBox generation will see what's going on and say the hell with it, and not play it that long, or they'll go the RMT route.

Either way, the more I look at this problem, which we can see is server-wide, the more I feel that the game has jumped the shark. I'm glad I took DRK to 75 when I did, because with Sniper's going for 2M a pop on Bismarck and all the other items going for God knows what (I haven't checked in awhile, and frankly, it seems like crap is jumping up in price half a mill to a mill per sale), there'd be no way I could have done it in this economy. That's why I refuse to XP any other melee job such as MNK, SAM or what have you. I was flirting with the idea of SAM, but that's too expensive now, unless I sold of my Black Cuisses, which isn't happening.

So yeah, I don't know how the XBox people are going to survive. Makes me sick that a game that I've enjoyed for a year and a half now is going down the shitter.

Dunno, this LJ from my friend is an experiment to see if someone with no external gil influences(friends donating money / rmt) can work, if you're smart, and in 2 days he's already got 40k.

    Wondering how fast before it's 100k / 500k / 1m etc.

    lol@people saying "it's all proportional"

Back in the day when I was a DRG, I wanted snipers. This caused me to farm 500k worth of cockatrice meat at 20k a stack. Cockatrice meat is now 12k~ a stack (ok, so they gimped kabobs...but thats not it).

After they gimped kabobs I switched over to farming spiders. At that time webs were going for a nice 12-15k (depending on how many were listed). This was when haub was 2,100,000. Todays economy, spider webs are 15k-20k each while haub is 8m or so. Spider webs raise 0%-30% (or whatever, something around there) haub raises 400%.

This trend is seen with every single item people farm for gil. Tree cuttings have gone up a big bad 60k per stack, ochidos kote have gone up from 500k->5m.

You can't even use the argument that "NM drops have gone up blahblahblah" because most, if not all NMs/HNMs are raped by gilsellers now.

Atleast, that's how it is on bahamut. Borderline impossible to level a second or third job which doesn't recycle gear unless you RMT or get a lucky BC drop.

Yeah, that works.. but how is a noob who just bought the game going to know about all those little things (i.e Finding and npc then checking it against the AH to see if he could sell for a profit).

One might say that's part of the discovery of the game.

Some people just like to dive into the grind, I guess.

i bought copies of raise 3 when it was about 80 before it went into that brief period of time up to a million.

i've handled about 20 different life belts, buying when the supply is high and price is low then putting them back into market to profit a few-10ks

i've bought and sold a couple different S.harnesses, rare spells, hq gears, and rare weapons (e.g. Unsho Katana) and always make money.

the OP is smart and thats exactly how i've amassed most of the money I ever made in game. Buy something rare and semi-expensive, maybe buy 2 and put one on a mule, wait, resell. the rest is from tedious farming, bcnm (always mediocre drops), and NPCing water crystals.

One of my friends quit the game over a year ago (And never got far in it back then, only around level 30). He started back up not long ago and he's 30+ BLM with full Seers+1 and other really good/expensive gear for that level.

Silk Threads are 50k a stack now and almost no comeptition. It's pretty sick being able to make 50-100k an hour pre-lv30. Invest that in a cheap and quick reward craft like Alchemy or Woodwoorking and viola. Verm Cloaks and shit will still take awhile to farm, but they also took a long when the average farming money per hour was 10k-20k. People still got Verms and Haubs back then. Now that somebody low level can get 100k easily, it really evens it out.

Thanks to threads like these, though, I've managed to beat the curve and purchase items cheap before they shot up.

Typically, Garuda is slower in inflation than the others (Asura, Fairy), and so I only paid 10m for my Serket just a week or two ago when this thread first emerged. Now the serket is climbing 1m every single sale.

Perhaps it's possible that threads like these cause people across all servers to buy into these items?

Um on Remora when I started again, I made 150k in a night, 8k fire crystal, 9g per copper ore, = 11k profit off one stack of copper ingots.Goldsmithing is all profit on Remora up to lvl20 I think. Not to mention fishing moat carp for 10k in between the time when guild was closed.
