It is for NIN solo. And yeah for my other 5 Imma put it in Suiton, increasing the time the mob is weakened to Lightning Damage, which is how my BLMs damage things most of the time.ya WTH, i mean i can't put 10 points in subtle blow?? that trait is the pwn, /quitFFXI
i think this would be the absolute last thing i would merit, the weakend is like -2? ohnoes, but if you have merits to spend and filled out the better catagories go for it, Jobspecific i think subtle blow 4tw, you could solo elder goobues with ease with 10SB merits, probably would get 1 TP move off per fightOriginally Posted by Lockecole

Until recently, I've hardly ever seen somebody say they were bad and that Berserk was better, always the opposite. Then again, most people see "+Double Attack" and shit their pants (ie: AF1 boots).Originally Posted by Russta
I've lived by Berserk Merits ever since they were introduced, and that was several months prior to getting my Ridill (Though, Berserk merits are a lot better with Ridill, it really bumps it's damage up a lot). Over +100 ATK is just insane, expecially against HNMs. Can you imagine if they really did raise the cap to 10? 3 min use, 3:20 resuse....20 cooldown, gfg I'd be in love with SE.
Nny do you recommend Berserk/Aggresor merits over +DA if you don't have a Ridill?
Also can you suggest a decent axe/joyeuse setup =O
It has less to do with Ridill and more on what your WAR actually does. My WAR was a tank on HNMs and ATK food in EXP, so ACC from Aggressor is really good.
On the other hand, if your using Sushi in EXP and/or your WAR against HNMs is not used/isn't aloud to melee/strictly SA bitch, aggressor merits aren't going to do much, in which case you might aswell do DA/Berserk instead.
As far as Berserk v.s. DA goes, I think if your using Joyeuse offhand Berserk merits are better. Dual Axe, DA might be better. Joyeuse has rarely ever left my offhand ever since I got it at lv73 (Even now I use Rid/Joy in EXP over Man/Rid). Also against HNMs, if your WAR is actually used, Berserk merits beat DA by leaps and bounds (Unless you aren't aloud to melee and strictly SA bitch :\). The only HNM that I recall ever hitting for 0 with Berserk up was Kirin, and even then it's rare. Without Berserk up though, it's not a pretty sight.
Decent Axe/Joy equip really depends on a lot of things like budget, linkshell, ect. ;P This is a setup with kinda-easy to obtain rare/ex gear, and not over the top expensive AH gear. And with merits, has enough ACC to be able to pull off Hedgehog Pie.

With a bigger budget, Dusk Gloves, Panzer Mask+1, and Unicorn Boots would be really good additions. Using ATK food, it's basically Haste>ACC(Until ~30-35ish is reached)>ATK. With Sushi, just Haste>ATK really. Speed is really the most important thing, then swapping to STR/DEX gear for Rampage.
I cry every time I realize that I got an Abyssal Earring instead of a Suppanomimi. ;_;Originally Posted by Nny
Cap need to be increased to 30 with a limit of 10 per ability :D Maybe then, I would come back to FFXI to cap berserk/agressor/DA.

No, next update they are probably only going to increase the number of fish that are used in the fishing contest. ;_;Originally Posted by Posterboy
how much does each merit mod reduce the cooldown time of sneak attack/trick attack?
Not worth it.
I think it's 2 seconds per level for a total of 10 if category is capped.
With recent merit patch, having both SA and TA at 50sec could be nice for HNM. It's probably cool for WS burn party too since most damage come from WS anyway.
Triple will always be much better for solo
Actually SA and TA add static damage bonuses to the next attack. Therefore you won't really do much more damage using SAWS than WS and then a SA. SA gives you 100% acc for the first swing and offhand hit for WS, but that's also the same for a normal SA. So in a WS burn party, it's best to solo SA and TA and truly spam WS at 100% without stacking it with SA and TA. The only time SA and TA are really beneficial are for SC purposes to increase SC dmg done, as well as transferring massive hate onto someone.
I thought SA guarantee that all hits will land when you're THF main. That's why I was thinking it could be useful on WS. Sorry if I'm wrong, I'm not a thf![]()
In any case, having SaTa at 50sec is probably nice to chain higher than #5, It means you can use it on every mob instead of 2/3
Triple attack adds more DoT as well as an increased spike damage, it is and always will be the best option for THF to use.
SA only guarentees the first hit of a WS and the offhand to hit. On a Ghrah in Ru'Hmet after they use the Flash move I can SA+SB for a 10% tp return. Full tp return for Shark Bite is 11%, offhand hit missed when flashed. Any job would have nearly a 100% chance to completely miss their ws (a mnk did this once on just a T Ghrah after Flash).
You're right I guess. Wasnt thinking much when I write last two posts and ignored triple can proc on WS, and calculated it like it was doing double attack instead of triple (was only adding 5% damage on DoT).
I didnt know about multihit ws + Sa. I asked a few thieves back then, and they always told me the same shit. Not that it matter much anymore.
