A PC is much more versatile than a 360 anyway. Internet, LAN, an unlimited library of games to play (Roms, console emulators, etc). USB for digital cameras, DVD recorders, external harddrives, flash disks. You can also watch TV and listen to Radio / Satellite Radio on a PC.

The problem with consoles is that it takes a good year or so for any sort of selection of games to come out. Like when Xbox first came out, there were like.. 15-20 games to choose from, most sucked. Halo saved the day and kept people interested.

With PC there are new games constantly being made, whether they're online onry, like Ragnarok Online, Gunz, or whatever, or can only be acquired by going to a store and buying them, like Call of Duty, Half Life, and Matrix Online. (Yes I know you can download these too, I'm looking at the 'legal' part, kthx)

Either way, I wouldn't mind owning a 360, but not while it's $400+. My PC is fine, I built it with only 700 bucks to spend and it can run any game thrown at it.

All the PC onry stuff I listed before may be available on the 360 now, I don't know. But I'm sure it'll be added later (like the USB-type memory cards and internet, blah blah blah).

Thanks for reading my random stuff, it's 4:20AM. /gg

(Edit: spelling, grammar, whatever. shut up.)

Actually there is a way to remove FPS cap, it's by overclocking your PC, BUT there's consequences : Your whole entire game speeds up too. Not sure about recast timers, but movement speeds and crafting etc, all becomes zoomed. You're technically not cheating, but people will think you're mrargusing . Silly FF.

Yup, I have my videocard unlocked and overclocked and my fps is uncapped to 34fps as opposed to the 29fps cap... the "consequences" are:

    - About 12%+ movement speed at ALL times. A little faster than Crimson Greaves and Chocobo Mazurka on foot. Chocobo speed is also increased since it's your game that's faster and not a game mechanic. I get examined all the time when I zoom by people on Chocobo ><. A JP asked me if I was using a tool, but I could honestly say I wasn't. ^^;

    - The feedback from /recast and the timers on your JA/Magic menus are faster but you can't cast or use the JA/Magic until the real timer (kept on server I suspect) is up.

    - /clock is faster and will get ahead more and more the longer you are playing.

    - After starting FFXI, your windows clock will not be in synch with real time either. I have to frequently resynch it with internet time.

    - If you're in Port Jeuno for a long time waiting for an airship, the airship will arrive early on your client, but you won't be able to walk on board.

That's basically what I've noticed most from having an uncapped fps. I actually didn't know I moved faster until someone pointed it out to me... XD

My friend tried to replicate it by getting the same videocard and unlocking/overclocking it but couldn't. Might only work with some PC setups I guess... So far I haven't heard of anyone else being able to do this but I really wanna find out how exactly it's done. If anyone is interested in my PC specs, PM me.

They're not great at all so I'm speculating it doesn't cap with an ultra powerful cpu/videocard or something as a lot of people are using way better cards than I am and are still capped at 29fps.

I used to do something similar only I didn't overclock my computer (I don't even know how to do that), I used a program that is made for Counter Striker Hackers. Basically you open the program, choose the program you want it to speed up then go back to it and it speeds up your fps everytime you hit a designated button, or slows it back down everytime you hit another designated button. While sped up I get about 49 fps lol. After awhile I started to use it freely without even turning it off in towns and such or anywhere for that matter. I never got caught for using it to this day either, must not be an infringement on TOS.

Several people in my LS (myself included at one point in time) have had this sort of weird pseudo-speedhack happen to them. When it happened to me, it was due to the CMOS battery in my motherboard being dead and requiring a replacement. My system clock was running almost 10% faster than real time.

I've heard of some people being jailed because of it, but I've also heard stories of GMs saying they wouldn't do anything about it unless somebody reported them... YMMV. /shrug

The worst part about this is how relatively easy it must be for speed/warp hack programmers to write their progs... basically just telling the server where you are on the map and the server will accept it and say ok there you are. ><

Finding the right memory zone isnt that easy, but yeah, any programmer can do it if they try.

I don't know about you, but server-side movement would suck ass when the server is on the other side of the Pacific. Any significant amount of lag would result in people rubber-banding all over the place. I'll gladly deal with a few douchebags using teleport hacks in exchange for not having to worry about that.

If you've ever tried playing Guild Wars on a slow/saturated connection, you'll know what I'm talking about. Even on a low-latency connection, it just feels bad.
