Regardless he does have skill. I am not a big fan of west coast rap nor gangsta rap. I also do not like the hippity party rap that is out now. East coast (older east coast think Wutang; Black Sheep; Slick Rick (the ruler)) definatly have artists that have skill. Not only do they make slick lyrics that do not match a standard 4x4 beat (aka: Juvenile) but they almost all produce their own beats with some having live events with nothing but turntables. I really think east coast rap utilizes rymes then beats where as west coast use's "put some rymes on these beats"

With that said get off the race card it was played out during the 70's and surfaced again during the 90's. Noone, especially dependent on likes or dislikes, deserves to have racial prejudice thrown at them. I like Kanye, even though he does steal parts of his rymes (and you gotta admit the bro is weak when it comes to freestyle), but he still puts his rymes down first then adds the beats.

Their was another topic like this that orf made some time back and it was basically 100 white guys(no pun intended) vs me.... People saying rap sucks etc for 15 pages and me defending what i like and my way of life and it really really sucks having your "friends" down your music and your way of life, and for this shit to come up again....why should i have to take this shit twice...

If i lived in some suburb i guess i would be just like you guys but im from that dade 305, i love my hood and the music i listen to relates to my life and isnt that what we all look for in music.. someone to feal how you feal and ease your pain or just someone you relate too or an artist that makes fun music that relates to you and that you enjoy.

I have a friend i know online known her for like 2-3 years and the only thing we have in common is anime she looks like the exact opposite of me and we live states apart. We were talking about music the other day and she told me about how she likes DDR and i got some songs that she said she liked and i should check out they where tecno i didn't like any of them and i dislike DDR for that matter but i know she does and thats all that matters, i know its good music cause she likes it, it's just not my cup of tea.

Personally, I don't like most of the rap that's out there. I've always been more about the instruments than the words, so rap as a whole just doesn't appeal to me. Some songs I do like, but most of the new stuff I just can't stand. I know that alot of people would hate some of the stuff I listen to (some minimalist stuff, phillip glass etc, and a bunch of instrumental stuff/classical stuff), and I wouldn't be insulted if they said they hated it because music is the ultimate individual mode. Not one person has the same taste in music, nor should they. I have a varied palette, ranging from classical work to jam bands to alternative rock...but shallow, I don't have every obscure song from a single genre. Others prefer just one genre and know it backwards and forwards. To each his own, who cares if someone disses your music...they're not there when you listen to it, so fuck them.

Though I must say, was anyone surprised when 3 people got shot at Biggie's album release party recently?
