people think its perfectly ok to be racist against whites, but when you are making a joke that involves racism with black people ore mexicans, its not ok for some reason.

As with all things of that nature, it's the context in which things are said that determines whether or not people take offense. If it's a joke, and was used in the context of a joke, I laugh. If it was used as a slur, and designed to hurt, I get mad. There's a difference, like getting hit with a foam bat versus a Louisville Slugger.

Also, there is the issue of familiarity. I get called nigga on a daily basis from my friends, black, white, red and yellow, but if some random black guy you aren't familiar with walked up to you and called you a "white devil" or an "ice mutant", how would you feel?

Take this joke for instance, told to me by my white friend Rich:

Rich: What's the difference between niggers and tires?
Me: What is it?
Rich: Tires don't sing when you put the chains on them.

If some random ass white dude told me this, I'd be on his ass like flies on shit, but it's the context in which it was told and the fact that it was told by someone familiar to me that made me laugh.

Just to clear up the whole nigga thing... It's called "internalized racism." It's a tool use by oppressed peoples to remove the sting of a racial slur. Sounds dumb right? Well, Quaker, Protestant, and Yankee were once slurs too, but over time were internalized.... Now they're something commonly accepted. White folks down south are doing the same thing, embracing "redneck" in a similar manner.

I don't think it matters much, it's just the context it's used in. Most black comedians joke about black people (Chris Rock Blacks Vs Nigga's is a perfect example).

It doesn't offend me if it's funny, and even less so if it isn't cause the comedian sucks
