There's nothing wrong with getting burnt out for a while. Take a break from FFXI and play some of the other excellent MMORPGs out there for a month... WoW, Guild Wars (doesn't deserve the first M, but still fun), EVE Online, EQ2 (okay, not that one), etc. Sooner or later you'll remember all the fun things about FFXI and come back. Also, seeing all those other games get things right that FFXI gets wrong will increase your bitching & complaining credentials when you do return.

my reccomendation to bring some of the magic back to the game:

find some of the old music you listened to when you first got the game, i find that really helps renew that old school feeling; and for god's sake, read the Vana'diel Tribune! Makes me feel all fuzzy inside :D

A 75 can be so helpful! If you're bored, here's my suggestion.
Go Sandy/Windy/Basty/Jeuno, do the following shout:
"Is there anyone who needs help with anything? BLM75/RDM37 at your disposition"
I'm sure each time you do the following shout, at least 1 will send you a /tell.

You'll meet more people and make more friends and feel more useful.
How do you think you got 75? Wasn't there people who helped you with:
-Subjobs items
-Unlocking Advanced Jobs
-Do Missions or Quests with you
-Helped you with Genkais/Limit Breaks
-Helped you with your Artifacts
-Helped you get a test for Maat
-Helped you get Sky or Sea access
-Helped you with the promys
-Helped you with money or even camp notorious monsters along with you
-Helped you with anything I might have not mentionned.

Remember this, you are not alone, you're now a 75 thanks to the help of many. Help is always appreciated (I don't know someone who hates being helped). What do you think of my suggestions?

lol yeah, all people do is complain about FF11 like its gonna get better. Gets kinda sad when someone depends on a game so much that its actually a pain for them to play. After 5+ hours on 1 HNM, drama everyday, greed breaking up friendships, rmt's thinking there gods gift to FF, botting/gilselling, and the economy going to hell. Taking a break or moving on to something better(WoW) does not seem like such a bad idea. Most people posting, play for about 4-6+ hours a day. And they post complaining about what a terrible company SE is, and that they dont give a fuck about there players. Yet the same people are the ones that play EVERYDAY and spend most of there free time on FF.

Another thing I've learned

I think many DRGs, SAMs, MNKs, DRKs and other DDs do the following:

You start your parties yourself, that's the fastest way to level.
Waiting for an invite can be long, especially when you see :
-5 DRKs seeking
-7 WARs
-12 MNKs seeking(must precise after 72, you see like 3 MNKs seeking due to KRT parties and for other reasons)
-15 DRGs
-2 RNGs(somehow there's not as many RNGs lfp as other DD jobs I think many can guess why)
-and 4 THFs.

I think I made more parties than invites I received in my ffxi life. So what do I do when I'm forming a Party (like many party starters do):

-I'll get a tank PLD or NIN
-a main healer (WHM or SMN even if summoners aren't really healers but sometimes it's not like we have choice and I was SHOCKED the day I partied with that one SMN who would never get his MP under 500 NO MATTER WHAT happens: links etc.)
-a refresher since I hate slow xp (Bard or Red Mage).

Now what happens, by the times I got those 3 jobs, we're 4.

I now look for 2 DD. Sometimes the members in the party know some of the DDs in lfp mode and will say "pick that guy, he's very good" or suggest to pick X job. Unfortunatly that X job that people in my parties propose isn't always Dark Knight.

Also let's say I choose DRK as one of my 2 DD, then you have to figure out which one of the 5 to pick:

1)DRK75/WAR37 Rank 10 [Perfect Gear in search comment, can't shine more]
2)DRK74/WAR37 Rank 7 [Perfect Gear]
3)DRK75/THF37 Rank 9 [Pretty Good Gear]
4)DRK74/WAR35 Rank 6 [Pretty Good Gear]
5)DRk75/THF37 Rank 8 [Perfect Gear as well]

What do I do?
-The 4th DRK is gimped so he's out of my list
-Something tells me that if I pick the 1st out, I can't regret my choice unless he's an account buyer XD (for those who partied with account buyers, it's sad so discover they bought the account once they are in the party]
-Now my NIN tank might want one with THF subbed, I could take the 3rd or 5th one but I'll still ask the 1st one, do you have THF sub also and there's 95% chances he'll say yes
-What about the others? I simply pick them randomly IF there's no answer from the 1st one.

The best is always to start parties yourself and not wait for invites. I don't try starting party if I don't see minimum those 3 roles seeking: Tank, Healer, Refresher. Notice that not every Bards will put their flag up and some other jobs. Still try to send a tell to them. One of my best parties was with 2 people in it that weren't even looking for one. After we gained mad xp, they were like "I don't regret having partied with you! Let's party again ^^"

XP or meriting is the most godforsaken mindless thing ever. Chain 46 in KRT to me is boring as hell but probably the best merits that I will get so I go do it. There's just something depressing when you begin the party and say to yourself "I'm only 4 Chain 46's from capping x merit", even though it's awesome XP.
