Sky was fun at first, but it got old fast. It takes a lot of time to get the 8 items needed for the 4 gods to pop the 1 kirin, and there's nothing dynamic about it, it's always the same repetitive fights. People do it to either get their sky gear, or build up points/credit/whatever so that they can lot whatever else they are looking for on ground or wherever.Originally Posted by Shigemo

Eliminating the timesinks required to get those items would expose how shallow a game FFXI is when people realize they have nothing else to do. This isn't something SE would do because they're in the business of keeping you paying every month.
Either way, the items you listed are not necessities to any job. Giving players free luxuries defeats the purpose and challenge of obtaining them and will void any excitement or satisfaction once you get to use them and see everybody else around you with the same stuff.
I love that 100% drop rate idea + Ex.Rare
When you must kill an NM like 22 times to make him spit your item, it is time consuming.
NO! SE can nerf your offline BST with frickin lazers!Originally Posted by thompkinsthebrian

GOGOGOGOGO h@xxors away!! NOW WITH 4 SPLIT SCREEN ACTION!
they can nerf it if they want to. i would solo with WHM if i could play it offline
maybe you didnt hear me the first time...
the all you can offline eat buffet with all the fixings +3 extra seats!!
Personally............ this topic sucks it reminds me of Alah. Think about what you proposed. Why in the hell would I lvl a job to 75 just to wear an Osode that I already have in my inventory? Just put your suggestions into the other 2 threads that have good topics about the economy and how to fix it instead of making new ones. There is no rating system on BG boards so noone is going to rate you up or down just try to keep the topics at least somewhat decent.
Oh and I don't want you to feel I was attacking you but this use to be a place full of knowledge and suggestions about end game not tweaking your lvl 15 war/whm

you can like totally name everyone after the peeps of your Linkshell!
and no you can never have too much FFT, Advance yes, but FFT NO!
lol, i hate my linkshell >.>
for some reason i get kicked from linkshells often something about my attitude and telling people off for not knowing what they are doing. though in my opinion it shouldnt take more then 50 levels to learn your job but thats just me apparently.
i loved tactics. i even bought suikoden tactics cause of the same gameplay.
still want to be able to play FFXI ofline that way i can go back and load it back into the server and play online.
wtf was this thread about again?
Truer words have never been spoken.you can like totally name everyone after the peeps of your Linkshell!

This is about the same for every MMO. You do something once for pride, and just to say "i did it". After that, it becomes a chore farming to get people what they want from that particular monster. Wyrm's however, if they dropped nothing, id still just LOVE to kill them. There is nothing worth doing more then once at the end of the game that is not related to equips. Playing any game is a time sink. The entire game, not just parts of it, is a time sink. The reason I like FFXI better than other games its because its a nice and interesting time sink. I feel like that time was well sunk. Its not going to be used up as a time sink as quickly as other games as well. Lastly, I have fun.
well... with the new jobs out... and people not knowing what the best subjobs are for them i think a offline game with a parse would help?
and see what a 75 in those jobs can do for those of us who actually have a life... i just dont get how theres 60+ jobs already
i originally meant this to be for people who are noobs and want to see what your abilities could be.. but if im just gonna get flamed because this might hurt SE's profits... then im sorry
leave

I don't think Cletis idea would necessarily be a bad one for the purpose he seems to imply, as a way to test out things before trying to achieve them in the actual online game.
For example being able to test the effect of different gear setups and circumstances to have even more accurate equations and insights on things like activation rates, or all the new assault items, or for weird caps on stats where adding more doesn't seem to do much past a certain point (e.g. evasion).
Or even for people to test out what it plays/feels like to be lvl 75 with a certain job before actually spending time to get all the way there (although that might still not tell you that as RDM you'll endup being used as a refresh machine 99.9% of the times instead of anything more fun).
However I don't think it would be possible to do it with windower extensions etc just because a lot of stuff happens on the server, and while you could build a fake ffxi server as needed you still wouldn't fully know the actual equations the real game/server uses, especially for things like the randomness added to each equation or to things like drops (for questions like the impact of TH+ on rare ex etc).
