Actually, they did.

Back in the day, the cast times on the spells were the same as Barstatusra spells and the resistance did absolutely nothing. Back when it was like this and the level cap was still 65 beating a Prime Avatar was quite the achievement!

I dunno, I still remember fighting Ifrit Prime with 181 Fire Resistance for shits and giggles and still ate a 1.2k Inferno.

I remember in Ballista royale the first round all our enemies had BQ rings on...i told our BLM to use Firaga2 as much as possible and it did nice damage :D. But yea, that's -75 Fire resist IIRC, which will be noticeable as the bar-ra spells are around 70-80ish I think.

I did some research on it.... and all I could find was some JP blog saying you can get it randomly from the Mammet rematch BC if you enter with 18 people to fight 9 Mammets.

It also said you can get Sirens hairs from there...

This armor would be so amazing if +20 resist was the equivalant to a bar spell, and it would make things like triumph rings/earrings actually worth the price. imagine if tanking Toramas at lvl60 with +15 ice actually mabye caused chaotic eye resist.

actually I think thats silence, my mistake, I think blaster is paralyse, which is the point I was attempting to make.

bar spells do reduce spikes damage by a bit, but that's the only time i've noticed them actually helping

bombs and or bombtoss, ninja 2hr, it cuts a good chunk off and sometimes randomly causes full resist if you have carol, mabye thats my int though (taru mele) I consistantly take the least amount of damage from these trings, but that might be related to hp% also, no idea.

I agree, from my experiences at least, it doesnt seem like the elemental resists from armor dont do much, especially when compared to bar-spells, much like our worthless resist job traits.

I've also have had Resist Petrify go off in dynamis bastok twice in a row. Made some RDM mains mad haha.

Anyway, I do wish resist traits and elemental resists (mostly on armor) worked better.

farm buffalo hide/meat and you will really begin to hate that trait, for EP mobs it really does not kick in enough. I used to farm there with a dragoon and he resisted as much as I ever did, if I resisted it more, I didn't notice.
