One time I trioed Steelfleece Baldarich with DRG/WAR 62, WHM/BLM 58 and myself RDM/WHM 45. We won and I thought I was such super awesome HNM guy.

I used to think "White Name" mean NA Player and "Blue Name" meant JP player.

I used to think White Name was solo people and Blue Name were people in party. I didn't realize that only applied for searching players.

My first EXP party was in Konschtat Highlands on the southern steps of the Crag of Dem. The party consisted of five subjobless newbies and a Bard. Level 30 was so far away at that point that the guy practically seemed like a god for actually having a character that high. The Bard (I wish I could remember his name) had to teach us the concept of camping in one place and having one person go out to pull a mob (it ended up being him)... The two warriors in the party kept following him as he went out to get a sheep. I think we were all around level 8-10.

Another time, around a month later, some guy in my linkshell accidentally went /anon by playing around in the options menu, and had no idea how to change it back. He couldn't figure out why he wasn't getting any party invites, and he had no idea why his job was showing up blank in a search. I think that lasted a few days.

I have another story, but it involves Galkan Sausage so I think I'm just going to skip it.

Got my first teleport from a 75BST subbing WHM, so I thought BST was the only job that could teleport. Needless to say I felt silly for a while. \(^-^)/

I remember watching people teleport in Bastok (my first character started in bastok) and I went out and got 500g cause I wanted to see what it was like, and I paid the guy, and he teleported and left me. I was like "wtf he ran off with my hard earned money!" but then he told me I needed the crystal from the crag to teleport there, and I was like "Oh...". So he took me to Dem Holla and Mea, I was like level 10, it was so awesome

I remember hitting level 30 RDM on Pugil/Acrophie in Qufim.

I remember spending 2 days trying to find "Parchment" to do the BRD quest.

I remember leveling RDM, WHM, and BRD in Tahrongi > Buburimu on Dhalmels.

I remember a high level JP WHM named "Dewy" who helped us kill Bogies for our SJ items (I have never done the Selbina SJ quest).

I remember leveling Clothcraft to 73, back when Silk Threads were 12k a stack and you could actually break even by synthing items and selling them to a NPC.

I remember when RNG was the rarest job on the server (mainly because nobody knew about /NIN)

I remember when nobody camped Fafnir. We would just walk into Aery every night at 8 PM and kill him without waiting for it to pop.

There was actually a LOT of translated stuff on gamefaqs and other places about bursting. I knew (in theory) how to magic burst soon after I started playing (I picked up game at EB the night before the us release). I do remember though when they added the level 3 skillchains, and I thought that if you did any 2 ws with 2 elements (like red lotus blade to thunder thrust, both of which are in 2 places in the SC chart) you'd get a L3.

First fight: "hey lets go kill that rabbit thing". We got a very quick lesson in what the blue crystal was.

My first manaburn was as 2 blm lvl 11 w/ no sub up in canyon getting wtfpwnd by rabbits (was completely accidental... the concept of a manaburn was still well over a year away).

I remember I bought my very first "pimp" gear, a 2700 gil doublet on the AH.

My second manaburn (again, accidental, wtf is a manaburn?) was a worm pt in shak maze at lvl 13 when we all got "ohhhh" fire!

I took a trip with my RL friend to sandy. I remember waiting in mhaura for a few hours while my friend died repeatedly by getting agro in bubu.

First entrance to sandy "omfg wtf shitty music".

Bogy pts! My first run-in with stupid SE quests that take forreeeevvver. I remember taking 18 people to kill bogy's, all of us lvl 15-18. After 2 of these horror story pts, I just waited by mhaura zone and asked a nice JPN if he'd kill for me. This was before they all got sticks up their asses because of asshole americans, and he helped me out. He even added me to his friend list, in case I needed future help.

Ah the memories.... all that was probably mid-late november 2 years ago >< I feel so old.

Interestingly enough, both things you mention were also mentionned in an exp party I was in. The scary part is, it happened less than 10 days ago, and it was a lv40-41 party ><

We had 2 NIN/WAR sharing hate, but since they weren't using any ninjutsu but utsusemi, were very voke-shy and couldn't hit the mobs, I was pulling hate (as a BLM). So our WHM was like :

"Guys, you're soooo noob, try to voke at the same time, so it does a super-voke that will stick the hate on you both"

At first, I thought he was joking, but since he repeated that every time NINs lost hate, getting more and more pissed every time, he was probably serious.

And then, he complained about us not being able to MB since we didn't have 2 BLMs in the party. I asked him what he meant exactly and he was like :

"lol orz wtf, how can you have 2 people casting the same spell at the same time, with only 1 BLM lol !"

It was the day I decided to never accept a blind invite again, and to never party in crawler's nest again.

I remember our DRG and WHM gilseller combo, Cholse and Dragonwar.
I remember that getting Raise at level 25 was a milestone.
I remember getting incredibly pissed off at melee's in the party for not resting HP at the end of each fight.

The first time I saw a dragoon, I was in West Saruta. I thought the wyvern was chasing this mithra so I kept trying to attack the dragon but couldnt figure out why I wasn't attacking it.

The first time I saw a SMN was again in West Saruta. I believe it was Mimiko. A little taru using Carbuncle; I remember thinking, "OMFG so coollll!!!! OMGZ Carbuncle!"

I remember making an almost full alliance to kill bogies to get the bloody robe in Bubu. Carok was there. High five if you remember Carok. :D

I remember having like 18,000g at lv.12. I thought I was so rich so I bought a LS and named it KoopaTroopa. We (my friends and I) travelled for the first time to Sandoria that day; picked up new members along the way. All those people became good friends, but eventually everyone left the game.

Edit: Few more things I remember:

I saved up for a long ass time to try to get a light staff. I even got lucky once and got Monster Signa drop and split that with my friend when it sold for 180,000g (lolz).

After mining in Gusgen since lv.42ish, saving up all my gil, finishing Limit Break 1, I got an EXP PT in Garlaige citadel at lv.50. I was going to hit lv.51 and I wasn't going to have my light staff. But wait! There's one on the AH. Bid 320k. Doesn't win.

I'm freakin out and talking to Royze. Royze told me to give him all my gil, which I did, and he says go PT. I'm sitting in Garlaige when he informs me he couldn't get the staff. He's coming out to give me my gil back, and he dies in Garlaige basement.

He sends me a /tell saying basically fuck this, I quit this game. This game is stupid blah blah. He gets raised and runs over to me to trade me back the gil, and then he puts a light staff in the trade window.

Royze, you bad, bad person. Never forget that day.

Light staff cost 353,000g btw.

I remember having my first 'PT' at level 15 as an rdm, I was killing EP and DC (Full Rest) before and was taking a long time. I remember seeing 80 exp a kill without full resting and thought it was great.

I remember when I got gravity, I was so excited to have an RDM only spell.

Having full centurion gear as an rdm at level 30 was uber.

I remember soloing bogys for friends at level 30 rdm.

I remember farming crawlers for silk to pay for dispel.

I remember doing 50 cap and dying 50 or so times.

I remember trying to get nest key for rdm af2, but gave up like 20 times because Mystery tour said I needed a 'Bug Hole Key'. Went back with a 70 rdm friend (max cap at the time) and she got me a nest key and told me that was the right key. I dropped like 10 of the key so far because I thought it wasn't the right one >.<;

I remember getting my AF hat at level 62. I still refuse to help rdms less than level 60 get that hat.

I hated thieves in oz.

My enfeeble torque cost me 115k.

I passed maat w/o any elem staves, w/o binding him, w/o sleeping him, and w/ being nuked by fire II. I laugh whenever I read any current rdm maat fight thread. People have it so easy these days.

I solo'ed Mystic Maker from level 64 to 68 to buy Phalanx. NPC'ed scrolls for 10k + 10k from killing him. Had HP set in Mhura.

My first HNM was KB, died about 10 times at level 70. Outbid a 939 from a JP for Crimson Mask :D, mask cost me 400k (2x astrals).

I thought sky was cool.

People EXP'ed off pots not D. weapons.

Then things got shitty, ls leaders sold stuff on mules that should of gone to ls coffer, kissing ass became more important than anything else. People became greedy, stuff got stolen, ls leader told us that if we wanted anything good we should level Nin or Ranger...

Took some time off, never went back to that ls, leveled bst and never looked back.
