And weapons in sky aren't XP? I've gotten hundreds of k of XP off them as RDM, so I'm wondering who is missing whose point here.Originally Posted by Not Kuno

personally, i consider Merit PTs slighty different from XP PTs but that's just me.
I could not even imagine someone meritting regen over 20% healing cast time reduction and 10% magic damage reduction, but regardless while 20 hp/tick is a bit weak the main problems with regen are a) recast and b) mp cost. It's only slightly more efficient than Cure V to start with (assuming noble's/staff) and less efficient than cureaga and the lower level regen (particularly if you're meritting it). This is why I suggested making it a group buff with divine seal.Originally Posted by Nagamaki

We rape Tiamat and our 5+ out of alliance WHM will pull agro off our 3 PLD tanks while casting nothing more than Cure Vs. And yes, that includes the WHM who has errant cape, -enmity earrings, everything.Originally Posted by Nagamaki
Thats pretty much what happens. Medicines have whored out WHM ability to the point I can't remember the last time I cast silena, my sneaks often bounce off silent oils and blindna and poisona potions are pretty much standard anymore too. Why would someone wait (cast + recast) * 2 to get blind removed when they can just hit their potion? They cost nothing. na spells need to be ga to even be useful much of the time.Originally Posted by Nagamaki
I'm rarely casting raise anymore either as 2-hour-long reraise 2 is pretty much gaurenteed unless the mob is a dispeller.
You're wrong. Regen is barely more efficient than Cure V and less efficient than cureaga, and MUCH less efficient than a divine seal anything. There is already AoE regen in the game, I'd like to introduce you to a job called The Bard which has a spell called Army's Paeon. Now some may claim bards are in fact broken, but no one would claim it's their 0 MP cost AoE regen thats the culprit.Originally Posted by Nagamaki
They are not as powerful. It MIGHT be comparable to Stone 3 if you accept the lack of MAB, but it is not comparable to Thunder 3. Also BLM (and RDM) don't sit on their butts with nothing to do because their only real nuke is cooling down.Originally Posted by Nagamaki
I have RDM and WHM leveled, the fact that subbing WHM gives me practically everything a WHM has and an extra 1100 MP every 8.5 minutes pretty much means my noble's tunic doesn't leave the mog house very often. As for not playing with WHM either, well guess what, 90% of my XP parties haven't had them, even when I'm not the one making them. RDM/WHM or BRD/WHM or BLK/WHM or SMN/WHM all fill that slot in a party better than WHM/X does.Originally Posted by Nagamaki
This is a great idea; this is what CoP Dynamis areas should have dropped, some kind of "AF3" instead of the lame AF2-1 and the hit-and-miss AF belts and capes.Originally Posted by Alleya
Level 30 JSE whose stats (and maybe even "Enhances") scale up to 75. Obviously at 60 and again at 75 this might not end up being the best gear for a job, like most AF isn't the best gear for a job in its entirely, but from 30-60 it would be a substantial upgrade from what's available. More importantly, you now wouldn't need 4 sets of gear for the 4 sets of level caps in CoP (and Hell these would be beneficial to other more traditional capped things like BCNMs). Of course, the irony would be that this AF3 would come from the Dynamis zones, which require CoP missions to be about half over, but still I think it would be VERY nice.
How many people would be willing to do the new Dynamis zones now with this type of offerings? Especially if they made the drop rate on AF3 a bit better than AF2 (yeah I know, CoP droprates ; ; but since the gear would be level 30, the demand for multiple sets would be very high; I'd want about 6 different sets for the different jobs I have and I imagine most other people would be in similar situation). This would have made the new zones actually desirable, not merely something new to try once or twice then back to the cities and the snow. I don't even like Dynamis much (PS2 player who still finds it too laggy even if they fixed the problem they had with it a year ago) but the idea of scaled AF3 would get me motivated to do these zones. Of course, the idea of a third AF alt color (maybe Yellow SMN AF or black RNG Af) makes me smile too.
I heard theres this thing called logging out that resets your hate, anyone else confirm?Originally Posted by FFXIFlux
WHMs aren't meant to be chain nuking, Banish III's timer is long but not too long to use in MB every time. Banish III on normal mobs easily rivals tier III nukes from a RDM (700ish on 2 person light). For 96 MP, that's very effective. A BLM's tier 3's get more MAB than a WHM can possibly get, but not by that much.
Comparing paeon with Regen III is pretty pointless considering using paeon means using up a song slot that could be given to ballad, march or mambo, and paeons are much weaker. Even double paeon isn't as strong as Regen III by itself. Regen recast is low enough to easily keep 3 people regened at all times, which is overkill a lot of the time. If you can't deal with it, keep yourself hasted. Aside from being MP effective, Regen is also damn close to hate free. Proper use of regen instead of cure spamming is what allows you to use Curaga spells without drawing hate. No it wasn't a bug, and no it wasn't right after Trick Attacks, we actually lacked a bit in the TA departetment that fight (first wyrm fight for many members) and for the most part the tanks were on their own for hate. With enmity reduction and proper care in what else you cast, curagas are perfectly safe to use when needed. Using DS cures and Curaga when you should be using Regen because they're more mp efficient isn't managing your hate very well.
Blindna does have a fairly long recast, but most other important -nas are nearly instant recast. Instead of complaining about people using meds, be happy about it.
Have fun casting Flash as RDM/WHM when your tank needs that quick break to cast something or to dodge a WS, I'm sure that's work great for you. Keep living in that world where WHM is useless, and I'll keep having fun playing any job to its full extent.
*edit* regarding what Xavier posted, that's wasn't an issue in this case. I didn't log at any time during the fight. I was in the tank party from start to finish, used that Curaga IV after a Firaga made it past stun followed immediately by Tebbad Wing when Tiamat was at 45% after being in the fight curing, regening, buffing, hasting and barspelling the entire time. I don't have the most amazing enmity reduction either, I think I had -27 or 28 at the time.
hehe XD This reminds me of when I started FFXI, my first job was WHM, I was so sad when they wouldn't let me melee... but anyways~ when I would cast Poisona, or Paralyna, it would say "Kuponut successfully removes ... etc." I was always worried about what would happen if I failedOriginally Posted by Not Kuno
i heard of that too. might be a myth though![]()
Flash is 45 for WHM I thought, last I checked anywaysOriginally Posted by Nagamaki
Flash - 45 WHM 37 PLD
Stun - 45 BLM 37 DRK
RDM/PLD go go
It was sarcasm Kuponut... RDM/WHM can't Flash or stun, meaning RDM/WHM can't provide that particular form of help in a party. If the NIN is getting his ass kicked cause he fucked up on shadows or had them eaten by a WS right after casting, sucks for him.
That sad part is that I want to level PLD to 37 just so I can sub PLD and use Flash to raise my sad Divine magic skill.Originally Posted by layoneil
Funny story. Claimed Fafnir and had a war/whm toss a few cures outside of party. I saw him, told him to log and rest on the other side of aery. He logs back in and rests on the other side. All of a sudden Fafnir decides he needs a war.whm snack and goes after said war.Originally Posted by Xavier
Also had a WHM (when kirin was considered uber hard) heal people.. log x2 and still drew hate after one cure after both logs.
I postulate that logging out does not wipe your hate but reduces it as if you were doing nothing during your logout time. The hate loss is not as fast as standing where you are but it does reduce the need to cure you.
I think you have to be logged out for a certain amount of time...but what do I know.
I logged to my mule, ran to AH, sent something via delivery, ran back to mog, logged back in on my WHM, cast one cure and got hate on Tiamat. I think you need to /shutdown.Originally Posted by Gatsby
Somehow, despite not having flash, RDM and SMN take the healing spot in the majority of partys after 40. I wonder why that is? Could it be that Flash is pretty much meaningless compared to nearly limitless MP or group stoneskin, +accuracy, esuna etc. etc.?Originally Posted by Nagamaki
Or could it be that people like you believe banish can't do damage, regen sucks and raise is obsolete?
Oh and there are plenty of shitty WHMs out there, and WHMs that hate their job so much they don't make any effort to not suck. Yesterday I had a lv74 WHM without Erase that only case 2 spells, C3 and C5 in xp PT.
Going by popular belief (and considering WHMs still get PT invites pretty easily, its not nearly that popular a belief) is a retarded way to judge the real usefulness of a job.
BTW since this still is the wishlist, I want a new refresh job that isn't monotinous, tedious, and borring.
Dont forget that all the WHMs that hit 75 pre-flash are worthless as well.Originally Posted by FFXIFlux
