I already see people saying: "why are you BLU/WAR n00b?"

Blue Mage answers "I need to voke to learn the ability, let me tank lol"

    Others: Go sub WHM!

But seriously I can't wait to see funny situations like this! I love to laugh ^^

We don't know yet Blue Mage's job abilities but I wouldn't be surprised to see "Cover"

But their Cover is different from Paladins (the poor crazy DD or Mage go hide behind them lol)

->When they use the ability, they would instantly be the victim

    Blue mage expectatoins:

    -Similar to RDM stats wise
    -No refresh ability
    -No rdm scale survivability tools
    -Handfull of useable traits.
-Similar in utility to SMN but without the zero-hate advantage.
-Most used abilities 'healling breeze' and 'whistle'
-No access to Zenith or Crimson.
-No access to scimitar class swords.
-Access to the harpe type swords (one in game already war, thf).
    -Access to mage limbus gear.
    -Most spells will be -ga.
-End game slot will be 1000 needles if mob is AoE safe. Healling breeze if it isn't.
-Learning spells will require lots of free time, most likely only EP+ will give you any.
-Learning spells will most likely require a JA to do, possibly a 2 hour.

I liked how when they introduced NIN they used a current system (Magic casting system) with a new twist (uses items rather than MP) and have since hoped they'd do something like this again... Something that just puts a new spin on the game. Although highly unlikely, imagine the novelty of 'spells' that could be learned every five levels or so... "Spider Mastery", "Crab Mastery", etc, which would then need to be cast on appropriate mob in order to learn their ablities. Would introduce a ton of new quests and mobs to drop these 'spells', as well as provide a more interactive way of obtaining abilities rather than voke and get hit or use 2 hr and "Learn".

I'm not suggesting this is how they SHOULD do it, but they definitely need new, totally different type things in the game. Too often they just re-use stuff; remember when Dynamis was introduced? Totally new, different aspect of the game. Right now there's several types of 'abilities' ranging from Ranged Attack to Magic to Beast Commands... Why not a new one? How about an ability / job that uses TP to execute abilities? These are the sort of things that excite me when I see update notes... Things that are just utterly different.

A Good Blue Mage would be a player who got :

Uppercutted, Sickle Slashed, Jet Streamed, Screwdriven, Beatdowned, Sprout Smacked, Frog Kicked, Bad Breathed, Impaled, Helldived, Fireballed, Razor Fanged, Hell Slashed, Self-Destructed, Goblin Rushed, Slam Dunked, Power Attacked, Grand Slammed, Shoulder Slammed, Final Stinged, 1000 Needled, Sticky Threaded, Rhino Attacked, Spoiled, Super Suicide Bombed, All Eyes On Meed, AND MORE

    LMFAO!!!

    I feel they'll need pretty hard armors ^^;

In Ballista I already see some Blue Mages saying PH34R MEH!!!11

    Craft ranking system.

    Airship Racers.

    Find the lost Airship.

    Blue Mage is worthless.

Are all reasonable expectations from square enix.

People are a bit...to hard on Blue Mage w/o knowing anything about it.

If you look at the jobs they added in Zilart, SAM, DRG and NIN, 2 of the 3 are amazingly good and considered some of the best endgame jobs. I see reason to hope that history will repeat itself and Blue Mage has a 2/3 chance of actually being good.

I love how you guys think you know a damn about Blue Mage. I bet you don't even learn abilities from enemies, but most act like SE said it themselves. I expect a big "WTF? I thought it was going to be different" when the job comes out. And all I'll have to say is, stop being a moron.

Uh, anyway, I expect quests that reward you with exp, doing simple NMs on cap(Eco-Warrior-ish). I think the exp won't be a lot and the overall quest will be boring for jobs like RDM and NIN, that can solo all too well. I also imagine a lot of Fellowship content. Obviously, more merits.

they "learn enemy abilities", that does not mean they have to learn it directly from the enemies, they could and they probably will, but they don't have to.

learning it from the enemies is not what defines the job.

They will have “modest” rewards for top clammers.

The NPC cap will be raised to 80 so people can level NPCs on merit point mobs.

Mobs will be in the expansion zones that have AOE doom TP moves. The type of doom will be different from other dooms where you will have to spam raise on the person 6-8 times after they die before the spell takes effect.

New mobs will have AOE silence that can not be erased with echo drops/silena.

New NMs will be 10x harder w/o blue mage so everyone will level it.

Huge hornets in South Gustaberg will be camped like Dragon’s Aery the first day due to all the people leveling blue mage.

Black mages will be nerfed....as a result aspid is the new hardest mob in the game.

Unavoidable true-sight/hearing mobs will be in narrow halls on the way to new camps.

New areas will only be accessible by boat. The boat will be a 30 minute ride, so you may be waiting an hour to get to your destination if you just miss the boat.

GM support for the NA/EU clients will be discontinued. However, it still will be possible for JP clients to call GMs on NA/EUs

Dark magic skill will actually matter on landing stun…thus drk sub will become useless for red mage and white mage.

There will be more uses for dynamis/limbus currency. The drop rate will not be adjusted to compensate and thus single pieces will be 200k and 100 pieces will be 20M. Stage 5 relic weapons will break 1 billion gil.

The results of the stage 5 weapons will not change and 90% of people that upgraded will quit the game shortly after.

The 3-kings will be changed from 3 to 6-hour windows. Certain linkshells will still be there every day for all 6 hours.

Sky pop item spawns and drops (in the case of Ro’Maeve water) will be secretly nerfed like ullikummi was 6 or so months ago.

The new areas will have more banishing gates just like garbage citadel. Such gates will have the switches on opposite corners of the map and require 6 people instead of 4.

The level cap on crafting will be raised to 110. NA clients will have to wait an extra month for it to take effect. JP clients will pioneer the market w/ the new tiers on high priced items and make all the early profit off it.

Smart players will post the ridiculous advantage JP crafters will have that first month over NA crafters on allakhazam. They will then get flamed by the level 55 dragoons on there with responses such as, “Chin up, quit whining….they don’t have an advantage over you” The karma of the original poster will drop to 1.21 or something.

Square will make a deal w/ IGE to introduce the “Gil Toss” job ability to the game. Such an ability will be insanely overpowered. It ignore defense and never miss like spirits within. People will RMT their way to 75 with square getting 10% IGE’s profits.

In FFVI and FFVII you had to be hit by an ability to learn it.

In FFVII you used an item dropped from an enemy to learn abilities.

In FFIX you ate enemies to learn abilities.

In FFX you used lancet on enemies to learn abilities.

There are many ways one could learn abilities.

I don't know why people come up with things like this. There will also be two other routes that the boat can take that will not actually take you to the new area increasing the wait to two hours. (Manaclipper anyone?)
