I was planning to check what ports data gets transferred to from my network and my xbox360. I think theres something encrypted in the headers of the datapackets being sent out that lets the server know its an xbox connecting to the server.

Its either that or the contentID system for the testservers are stored on a separate database. The server only allows content IDs from that pool to be connected to the server. Perhaps the regular polviewer has different loginserver IPadresses hardcoded into the application?

It is a mystery.

I'm sure it's a contentID system.

No, as I've been saying, I'm only comparing PS2 to XBox360. Since I'm a PS2 noob, that's the only kind of comparison I can make. There's no doubt in my mind that FFXI on a PC leet enough to run it at the highest settings looks the best, but for some of us, that's an impossible dream. For those of us that have to settle for a console version, Xbox 360 >>>> PS2.

I don't have an HDTV either... ._. But on a standard 24" WEGA crt, FFXI looks great on Xbox360, and the text is totally readable.

I realized that after your second post which explains why you're so blown away. I was referring to the PC version as I've never played FFXI on the the PS2 and have erased all mental images of it forever.

Made the char "Aspidochelone" on the Hydra server.

There was 3000+ people online today, and pratically every name was taken. This server is surreal... the high level JP's, the segregration of NA/JP's again, camping for mobs in the starter zones, thinking of clever ways to make money and selling my Onion Dagger for 19 gil to buy Cure.

This server's innocence reminds me why I liked this game in the first place.

I'm doing pretty well in game. Level 10 red mage, almost 11, nice equip (+1 weapon), levelling goldsmithing (level 0.1 lol) almost rank 2, killed leaping lizzy but no drop, and most of all... this is so fun!
