you dont need /WHM in weapons, NIN works fine there because then you can absorb whirl of rage too and all the melees should be. the reason I like WHM in golems is you're gonna lose chain if all the melees are bound and cant get in range of the mob.![]()

this is overrated unless your nin main, Whirl eats to many shadows to pretend like you going to come out with 0 dmg. in fact right after whirl whoever has hate, especially if they have already used Ni, is in troble, at least in war parties.Originally Posted by aers
Ninja subjob is only good in my opinion in Ulegrand range, where the speed of the mobs you pull would kill you if you didn't have ninja subjob, or waste too much exp in curing you. For Deco weapon pty's, whm or rdm sub is best because you can get your minstrels ring activated which will allow you to make sure everyone has songs (minstrels and manteel and rostrums allow you to cast at 45% on songs) and still get the pulls done fast enough to get more than chain 10 and make both rooms link as far as chains go. Usually you sacrifice one or the other for long chains. Either you have all songs on and lower chains, or high chains and the melee and mages don't always get their songs.
As far as the original post - I don't mind meriting as bard, in fact I like it because i know I can do the best job out there as far as getting mobs positioned, songs on my party, and keeping people alive and chains moving. When I go warrior, all I know I can do is lots of damage, but i've leaving the most important job in the merit party to someone else. I really enjoy the challenge of getting high chains, so I don't mind barding it up.
For all those people that are mad that the bards in their LS don't want to go merit with you, how about this: YOU go level bard to 75 to merit with them, how does that sound???
They just end up wanting a dalmatica for more wardrobe varietyOriginally Posted by Correction

give me lots of gil and ill party with you
In my d.wep barding experience - BRD's cure, pull, and buff - RDM's are haste and dia2 bots with backup cures. Your mileage may vary.As long as there's a few RDMs and WHMs around I usually don't need tons of MP.

I was pulling in my last Deco party on RDM.
RDM + Bow and Arrow = Win.
By the time the mob came, a war voked it and rampaged his face.
I enjoy meriting on BRD now and then. It makes it so I get an easy 10k or so exp in one session or a nice merit point for saving up for my SMN or one of my other jobs that will be 75 sooner or later. That being said :
-BRD is one of the most boring, monotonous jobs in an exp pt.
-BRDs get invites so often it's pathetic. That means I will be very picky, and anything less than an easy burn party will seem Slowga. Not every class can burn, I know, but hey, I'm the BRD! Feel my power to reject U!
-BRD merits are so so. I have 2 merited points in +attack song and +2 in acc song. Is ok, but no one really seems to notice or care. That being said, it's hard to give anything to bards. We have so much, and giving us anything means giving another class something else to invite us for, because whatever we get will most likely just help another class more than us.![]()
Quoted for truth. I'd rather get 6kmerit/hour on my samurai then a 10kmerit/hour on my bard.Originally Posted by Kenai
Exactly. I like to merit all the time but if I'm going to it's gonna be on my terms. I'm not settling for 4khr when if I wait long enough I'll get that 8-10khr invite. People hold bards hostage. Oooooh there's a bard let me throw a party together. I merit as monk too but I have a better chance at gettin a burn party than gettin a KRT party. KRT is better but is always so crowded.Originally Posted by Kenai
Like everybody says, if I was a full-time career bard I wouldn't merit at all except maybe for MP.-BRD merits are so so.
Waiting for a Bard to pop before making a party reminds me of EQ. No Shaman/Enchanter, no party. The similarity... heavy attack buffs, brokenly powerful slow and unlimited healing MP. Scary.
The thing that really burns my nerves when something like the following happens:
*My flag is up on my 75brd*
Some lame DRG, THF, or DRK that i know have crappy to mediocre gear invite me to party. I can kind of guess that this party will be something like a 4k an hour party, and I'm seriously not in the mood for it.
Then I would say: "Sorry, No thanks."
Then they would reply: "Then put your flag down then"
And I always give people the same following reply: "Pay my $15 a month for FFXI and I'll accept any invite you send me."
Bottom line: If I don't feel like partying with a certain job or setup, I'm not obligated to. But that doesn't mean I never will, because I still sometimes do
Aren't you a drg ??Originally Posted by Daahan
