The only reason kirin used to be crazy was because people didn't know how to properly fight it. GameOver, for example, popped it once and got creamed because they didn't know what to do and were overwhelmed. Second pop they won. They figured it was too insane to deal with stonegaIV every 10seconds so they aspir'd it empty before going to town on it. The fight evolved from there, and everyone improved upon what they laid down as "strategy".pls remember Kirin used to be crazy too, and SE nerft it.
As far as I know, Kirin was never nerfed.
AV is gay and I'm sure it will be nerfed and killable soon. I doubt it's killable right now with such rediculous defence, magic defence and hp regen.
ps - awesome work downing JoL, Kupo!
i still dont think the dev team can kill JoL w/18 ppl,i dont have sea yet bnut im very close, but from what ive seen....it doesnt seem ain anyway possible at all,SE is just fucking around w/us til the new Expansion pack comes out to keep the core palyers attracted, once the expasnion is realeased,AV will be nerfed and will probaly be easier than genbu(lol j/k on the genbu part)
Grammar, space bar, punctuation rules, and any damn common sense prevent me from reading anything you posted.Originally Posted by Sefier

i think the dev team had about the same setup that everyone else used, more than 18 though, probably around 30-36.
as for AV, yeah i doubt they'd go armor crazy and get all of the most unobtainable gear in the game just to beat something they created, there's a trick to killing AV and they knew it, thats why it wasnt ridiculously hard for them, not cause they got haxed armor/weapons. the hard thing is figuring out how to make AV weaker, he's not killable in the state Kupo fought him because of his wynavs, ga IV, tornado II, explosive impulse...etc. although they did try some ideas that've been thought up, so now we're all a little closer to finding out the secret to making him killable
has anyone ever tried trading a full stack of Ex Aern Organs to that chick you get virtue stones from? they're stackable and there's 8 types of Ex items to trade, 7 jailers + AV = 8 mobs....i think 12x Ex items could get traded for something to dispel the corresponding jailer.
I would slap anyone that traded 8 stacks of organs to that bitch, just on general principle.
Anyways, I seriously doubt they would make it necessary to have to get a special item from an NPC in a different zone just to weaken AV. And sea is already enough of a major time sink, if SE required 8 full stacks of organs...I think I would cry (unless the drop rate has been upped since I got my 4 obis).
Trying to rationalize SE's design is pointless when they're not willing to discuss any actual details of their endgame (hi wru Steam Cleaner for several months). Sea just has really pathetic design compared to sky and really nonsensical progression.
Whether or not there's some "gimmick" to making Absolute Virtue manageable or whether it's just waiting to get nerfed, it's pretty lame to force players to trial&error something that is such a timesink to begin with. If there were were more depth to the lower tier mob loot pool in sea then sure, whatever if you lose a fight if you're still getting a lot along the way. As it stands though, about 75% of the reason for doing jailers is (most likely) sitting on the corpse of the final mob. Sure can't say that about sky.

And Other games that are made require you to travel to a different area to obtain items for future lvls, so why wouldnt then SE try something like this? For Example, in an old dreamcast game, you had to travel the world and get pieces of armor and artifacts and items to beat the final boss. The final boss was always abl to fight, each armor and each artifact and items you got would make the fight easier. Then why wouldnt SE try something like that.Originally Posted by edgarfigaro

You never heard back in the day that it was? I never believed it, but i was constaley hearing it when i had to level in there. Post wasn't even about that i was trying to say something, people are probably over looking small. You know the saying "when your looking for something you cant find it, its when your not looking for it you'll find it"
kirin used to be stronger, they tuned it down, my jpn friend saysOriginally Posted by kunekaden

Yes, Kirin used to be considered unbeatable for a decent time frame.

To whoever suggested using relic weapons or any zerg strategies: You just aren't grasping how insane AVs offensive power is. Even if you were doing 1000 damage a hit you would be dead before it made any difference. All his spells are insta cast (one minute you are at full HP next you are dead from aeroga or tornado) and have no apparent recast since I saw him Aeroga IV twice in a row with no delay at all. I tried E-seal stun on him and it dind't work, neither did any other enfeeble from what I saw.
Oh, and its not just magic that will kill you. He hits like a truck (250-300 reg hits, non PLD expect to eat 600 crits and the either negligeble or devastating Medusa Javelin) and about as fast as Aquarius and seems to have perfect acuracy so forget about blink tanking. He moves VERY fast, at one point it was roaming wide looking for its wynavs and even people with crimzon greaves could barely keep it in view distance, so kiting won't work. And then there is a lovely jump move called expansive impulse, it does anywhere from 400 to 1000 AoE damage and a KB like stun effect. All he needs it to get this move off once and you are lunch. He also likes to spam it, at one point he did Meiko Shiushi and then proceded to use Explosive Impulse 3 times in a row, essentially wiping anyone in range before they could do so much as move a milimeter.
Oh and god forbit one of the wynavs make it back to AV's side since the -ga III spam + Mijin Gakure will wipe the floor with you even faster. There is obviously some trick to it, so the crackpot theories are our best shot right now. People complained how everything could be beaten by brute force, so SE made a mob that can crank out more damage than every other HNM in the game combined (put this guy up against Dynamis Lord and the big guy will be running for dear life before AV even works up a sweat) and this dwarf absolutely anything anyone can throw at him.
On JoL:
Nobody is being jealous guys (yes Kupo is generally hated by most people on the server due to their overwhelming arrogance and moral bankrupcy, but lets give credit where credit is due, they do get shit done and nobody would deny that or try to belittle it) but while your DRKs did put up an amazing display the BLM were doing a very fine job of tearing JoL up while Souleater was down.
I'm sure in the 3 hours BG had it out they try the "have 5-7 BLMs blow MP on Blizzard spells" tactic at some point and would have seen its HP go down at a manageable rate. I never saw JoL melee, so all you had to worry was nukes and status effect AoE which did come pretty fast but never so much so that the healers couldn't handle it. And as far as summons, there were never more than 3 phuabos out and they came about every 5 minutes from my observations, at no point enough to overwhelm the pretty average adds alliance.
It was a good fight, but I think Simd and BG are experienced and skilled enough not to have to either quit aftre 3 hours or resort to several dozen Ghallahorn backed BLMs to deal with JoL had be been as he is now. It got nerfed, please accept that fact, lets get people farming it with more confidence and focus on figuring out what crazy Indiana Jones - like acrobatic sequence SE came up for as a means to defeat AV.
PS: I'm gay for AV, coolest thing ever.... never seen anything this badass in any game. When it materialized that crimzon spear and proceeded to own everything in under a minute while performing combos of melee, jumps, stuns, nukes and JA it was like seeing someone playing a particularly crowded level of God of War with a maxed character.![]()
Way to take a total stab at Kupo with absolutely nothing beyond your own opinions, oh yee from 9th circle, lead by Caine, need we say more :cough moral bankrupcy cough: (how are those strider boots, by the way?)Originally Posted by Pleroma
If you had actually read the thread, or taken notice, you would realise that infact Simd's BLM's are not merited like Kupo BLMs, and nuked in full emnity gear rather than damage/elemental gear - the difference is very large as you would know being a BLM.
Personally, I have no idea whether or not the regen was changed, but I would be inclined to think that it isnt. The add pops were probably slowed it seems, but even then, we almost got overwhelmed by them in the beginning, until we got a method together to deal with them, so really who knows.
This must be one of those "Kupo Haters"...Originally Posted by Pleroma
