The same thing happened with Armored Core 6. I was tilting off the face of the Earth when everyone was saying it would be Mech Souls without having ever played any of the games.

This looks kinda interesting. Getting more Chromehounds vibes than old school Mech Warrior/Assault but that's fine, I guess.

Modded MW5 easily clears MW4 btw if anyone hasn't played it or hasn't looked at it since launch. Not that that's much of an achievement

The top-down mode looks very interesting: it'll come down to AI and the protag not being written like the most boring, milk-toast white "good boy" ever. The protag from MW5 Mercs is the most bland piece of crust-less white bread I've seen in a long time. Then there was Spectre from MW4 Mercs 20 years earlier who was hilarious as shit and actually had a fucking personality.
