Before the SSJ it was very possible. (Serket also.) I actually managed to get hate from meleeing it one time we fought it, so it has pretty low defense, and it's attack is not all that powerful. Sub NIN for Utsusemi and dual wield bonus, Stoneskin, phalanx, barthunder, enstone, and haste and just go to town.

Man, I wish there was a way to still solo Behemoth... ;_;

I suppose if a RDM REALLY wanted to handle super-mode, he could grab one of those low damage daggers and kill it entirely on Enspell damage. (Thunderbolt is a TP move, right?)

Hmmmm.... i think he has TP regen but also I have a feeling that in hardcore SSJ he would resist enspells like Aura Stats do, not to mention one missed utsusemi and you take a melee hit for 4800 dmg.

Thank you very much for the input on soloing behemoth I appriciate it. Completly off topic, I just had a thought. Lumberjack despite it being so utterly pathetic as a HNM is still a HNM right ? So would it also have the ability to go ssj ? I kill this for fun all the time since its never camped, but I just relized it would helluva suck if I get lazy and go at it for a long time, and all of a sudden it starts bashing me like it was tiamat.

Edit: Thanks aurik, i've killed lumberjack a good 20+ times (woot for only getting drop 4 times hes a stingy bastard). I mainly duo him and he's never a problem just got fuck tons of hp. I'll stop being lazy and read the patch updates from now on, but this site definatly gets a gold medal as far as ffxi forum boards go.

Lumberjack doesn't go SSJ. All the nms that go SSJ are specifically named in the Aug 1 patch.

He's pretty easy to duo with a competent blinker + mage. The only thing to watch out for is his instant stonega4 which, if you get unlucky and don't resist it, can hit for some damage. Over a long fight he may whittle you down simply by stonega'ing you over and over.

I've done mnk/nin + blm/whm twice, doesn't take nearly as long as ninja Blm basically erase+barstonra+heal+dot, with the very occasional stun when I needed it. I could see it working with any good blinker + any mage/whm.

Nin/whm could probably solo him, but only if they stop having emergency maintenances every 24 hours.

Btw, mantle and no sword both times.

I duo'ed it with a whm with my war. My war was in DD gear with -eva as well. LJ still couldnt hit me and stonega did 50-200-ish with barstone. Got the sword drop, no blood though. He took a really long time to kill though.

Just evasion down, which I had erased as a mnk/nin because it did cause him to hit a lot more.

As a rdm you probably aren't evading anyway.

Just watch out for Break with no shadows up.

I solo'ed him about a year ago as rdm/thf his acc is quite poor and I just used hornet needle + enspell. It took a very long time but with blind I hardly ever got hit and with barstone his stonega's never took more than 75 dmg. My gear was straight AF, nothing special at all.

I farmed demon's for horns back then, was a pretty good money maker for a poor rdm. I usually just walked back from the castle to jeuno when I'm done and saw some walking tree and said what the hell, and went for it. Only dropped the cape/mantle type thing.
