Well, if the whole rng things works, you can thank SE. Now since everyone and their dog leveled rng, you can use them to their full advantage. SE planned itwwww

Shadowbind only works if you use Justice Bow
Here is how you figure out if Absolute Virtue is defeatable:
1) Find 100 people on your server who have MNK at 75 and sea.
2) Go kill Jailer of Love.
3) Chi Blast x100 when Absolute Virtue pops.
Now you don't even have to worry about what to do about the 2hrs or adds.
(Super Strategy Part 2: If you're really serious about killing AV, then make sure all the MNKs have +5 MND merits. Then you'll do up to 5000 more damage! Crazy isn't it!?)
Wow! FFXI endgame is so easy guyz. Let's go play WoW instead.
In all seriousness though, if you really want to try and kill it just go figure out a strategy yourself and try it. Nothing annoys me like people who pussy out of fighting something until somebody else tries it and can be info-raped. With the number of people it would probably take to kill AV even if you could find a way to not all die, you'd still probably need zerg-level forces to do it, which in and of itself pretty much makes it not worth the trouble.
Its simple wait a year. Now 50%+ people will have sea access. Bring them all to sea. Pop JOL and kill it. Then once AV pops zerg it with 1000+ people. It may have taken half the server to kill one mob for 2-3 items, but wasn't SE's intention to make ffxi endgame as horrible miserable as humanly possible.![]()

See if Dragon Killer affects AV at all, if it does bring 10 WAR/DRGs with Hrotti, Tatami, and Demon earrings to intimidate the piss out of it
Actually, AV has Dragon Killer. Some RNG did something to him while we were waiting for it to despawn, and got intimidated because he was wearing blood finger gauntlets.
Other things in sea have dragon killer, those little pink EP dolphins have it too but it is verrrry weak (or maybe a bug). I've soloed tons of them but never had it trigger, then one day we're just screwing around in sea and i got intimidated by one with crimson :/
Crimson is just weird like that. It doesn't even have to be a demon (the only mob type with natural Dragon Killer) to intimidate you. I've heard that even taurus mobs can intimidate someone with crimson on, despite not being a demon. I think floating eyes might too, despite also not being a demon. It wouldn't surprise me that AV could intimidate you, too.
Then again, maybe AV just got it from his buddy King Zagan.
While the idea has some merit, and is certainly worth trying, I wouldnt put your hopes in it working, for a couple of reasons:
1. The "tank" needs to be in range at some time, and continually move back into range to regain hate. Mob casting range is about 1.5 (30 as compared to 20) times that of PC casting range, and Aeroga4/Aero5/Tornado2 are all instant cast. If whomever has hate is in range at any time and AV's "spell" timer is up, ie its time for him to cast a spell, then you cannot get out of range in time, period.
2. If you even manage to keep a tank alive long enough to get to a point where they have hate built up, it still cant really compare to the hate that would be gained by the amount of damage you will need to do to actually kill the bastard.
Not only this, but I hope you have a lot of rangers, because even with job change resetting shadowbind timers, to Warp, run to moogle, run to sealion den, run to sea, cs to sea, and zone times, I would think it would be atleast 2-4 minute round trip, and shadowbind really cant be counted on to last more than 30 seconds, with the occasional 2 second wear off phenomenon.
Again, I still think its worth a try and the first LS to kill it on Pandy had at least a tiny bit of success with the strat, but you will see how insurmountable his offence seems to be when you pop him. Good luck though, hope it goes well.
Assuming that AV is every job with every 2hr, that also assumes that he is a beastmaster, and hence has killer traits regardless of what gear is worn.Originally Posted by Khamsin
Demon Killer intimidates Taurus and Floating eyes. Pretty sure they're demons, or at least demon family.Originally Posted by Khamsin
The answer is clearly run in with blms with "Add effect curse" until AV gets curse it then nuke him to death >.>
This may be slightly off topic, but do you think Shining Ruby, Shell4, Baraera, Wind Carol, Dream Shroud, and Earthen Ward would be enough to let someone survives AV's endless onslaught of magical death?
if ever anyone manages to take AV down to like 10% and heuses Benediction, quitting irl.but good luck tho guys

Everyone was defeated by the Aern's Wynav.
The only way would be if you had your whole alliance sitting on top of him for tanks to live through AerogaIV. And then everyone dies from that jump aoe shit.
True sight taurus links with demons, such a deadly comboOriginally Posted by Khamsin
true sight aggro, causing any demon looking in the direction of the taurus to link on its target, and we all know how fasts those bastard-ass demons run((((((((((((, god forbid you run by an eye after you've been swung at by a demon, only to have the eye stun you and the demon catch up and wail on your ass

not sure what was accomplished here or when it happenedOriginally Posted by Khamsin

didnt someone say that AV spawns but doesnt aggro ?? let it sit and it will get bored and fall asleep, and then you attack !!
