My group beat airship-Ultima (whatever the second one is) without needing CCB Polymer. So yes, it's a trick, to make it more manageable. Its not a tactic, you do not NEED to use CCB Polymer to defeat Ultima.

My group used a polymer on Omega because our group was not suited to dish out damage in a short amount of time. His seemingly 0 delay attacks is what demolished my group, only because even if our pld invincibled, we wouldnt be able to finish it in the 30 second invincible time.

We could have changed our jobs, but we were intent on getting though CoP with a certain job selection just to proove to ourselves, our LS, and the entire community that you can beat CoP with more than RNG RNG RNG SMN SMN NIN.

Notice however that I said ONLY for one of the 2 fights. We still made it though the second one without any tricks; just a good, smart, standard group.

Theyve sent a couple people back to switch jobs, now they have 4 DRK/NIN and they are all using Krakken Clubs. They have the drks run in with a pld, the pld covers, and drk starts going while the whms spam cure on them. They do anywhere from 2-4% of its hp each time they do that each DRK (usually hitting for 110-175 each swing).

After another 2 hours or so we could only see 9 BLM's in the logs (3 casting on the 3 phuabo summons, and 6 casting on JoL). I could be wrong because I wasn't in the alliance, but if they got JoL to 60% with 9 BLM I'm damned impressed.

Well, this pretty much answers the whole debate... Kupo pretty much used the same strategy to kill JoL (although not intentionally!) as the JP LS on Phoenix. If this is true, then JoL's Regen was nerfed between BG's and Simd's attempts. And there's a possible Summoning Rate nerf between JP Phoenix's and Kupo's attempts. Glad this argument can be finally be put to rest.
