I dislike you both, equally.
I'd care, but I cant say I give a rats ass about you...Originally Posted by BRP
someone playing on someone elses behalf to get points for AF2 is fucking stupid. Um isnt that the whole point of having the points? You earn them by being there?
lol, that LS might aswell have everyone AFK at the zone and horde points and the thf can sack pull into nobody because nobody's at their PC.
being played by someone else to get points is stupid. but i don't see someone else using your points that you got on your own as being that incredibly bad.Originally Posted by Lordwafik

they have more points though. so the points mean nothing because of one event?
i think it's especially more important for the rare items to get it to someone that truly has earned it.
I agree.Originally Posted by layoneil

and in the case when 2 people did not have the same attendance, what do you prefer?
I'd much rather the person physically there, who has passed that LS's lotting standards, to take it, rather than someone AFK. If that other person he has to lot against hasnt met the LS requirements to lot on something, then by all means let the AFK person have it.Originally Posted by layoneil
You're trying to argue the equivelance of someone 2boxing a PLD, while you have 2 other PLD @ Nidhogg, and it drops M.abj : Body, and the 2box'd PLD won despite the fact he didnt do crap on that run besides be a MP leech since the WHMs have to cure him from the wing spam.
since theres a discussion on this, let me fill in a few unknowns:
that DLS uses a tier system, based on attendence, so the new people can think they have a shot at getting AF. That was the second time I lost Assasin Armlets, though both times, even though the tiers were similar, I had higher attendence numbers. As far as who ran the show inside dynamis, it was me. I pulled pretty much 95% of the runs, I did pretty much every sac pull (using my own money on rr pins and xp considering most of that LS didnt even know there were reraise items). I lost the first pair of armlets to another thf in the LS, he was more or less my backup...if I was having an offday, or I was weak from a sac pull.
The second pair of armlets, well lets just say when they dropped and I lotted, everyone was saying "grats nyn", because the entire freakin shell was under the impression they were mine. There were a lot of wtf's when that whm lotted, because no one had a clue. I was very pissed, as I had put a lot of effort into that DLS...refining the strats, pulls/sac pulling, making the schedule...I just shut off my PC and went out to cool down.
However, what pissed me off most, is how he was in school that night, and school had been 3-4 months in at the time. (I planned out seperate points for tuesday and saturday runs to be fair those those who are in school or work and cant make one of those 2 runs per week, I planned the schedule to be equal on both tuesday and saturday runs between northlands / city). He leeched points by his brother 2boxing him for those 3-4 runs. I had 15 points to his 12, and the tier's are 0-3, 4-10, 11-18, 18+...those 3-4 runs he got leeched points thanks to his brother threw him up on my tier...
I think that should fill in most of the voids on that situation.
One way or another, I lost the most prestigious Thief item in the same (I was that LS's main Thief) to a white mage, who was being 2boxed /following a warrior around for 3 hours.
If you cant understand why I was pissed, then theres no hope for you, partialy because you're a brd / whm ...
if he leeched points than it's a non-issue in this case (not that i was ever arguing your case specifically). the LS never should've allowed him to leech points in the first place.Originally Posted by NynJa

let's use NynJa's point rules for example.
highest non-AFK guy who doesn't have the item has 4 points. so if the AFK guy has 11 you'd say it's okay to lot. but if he had 10 you'd give it to the guy who was there.
in a more extreme/exaggerated case. highest non-AFK guy who doesn't have the item has 18 points. regardless of how many points an AFK guy has, you wouldn't consider it. even if the AFK guy has 50 points.
you don't see how that can possibly upset a lot of people?
points and tiers is a very delicate thing.
This is cool, cause I've always wanted Martial Legs, but KB has been in a shitty time schedule for me with all the maintenances recently. I guess I'll just have a friend dual box so my LS can camp it and give it to me when it drops ^_^.
Indeed, it'll upset alot of people, however I think in general people would be more annoyed at an AFK person getting an item over someone else who was physically there and doing everything in that zone.Originally Posted by layoneil
I really cant see how AFK people are justified to be dual boxed to lot on stuff, that's a slap in the face, and would probably drop the attendance.
this was the first time that i thought about this topic.

Like I said, I only found out 2-3 days after that all went down that he was in school. Had I known before hand, I would of taken care of it.Originally Posted by layoneil

It's fun when you like your guild mates and they log on to find out we not only found X up and got to kill it, but they're wearing new_uber_peice_they've_lusted_after_and_thought_th ey'd_never_get_039 and start freaking out. lol!
I could see letting someone who is being two-boxed lot on a drop if:
1) The two-boxed person has the points.
2) The character being two-boxed at the event is not in the habit of not being there.
3a) The character being two-boxed can wear the item on his/her first job
or
3b) The character being two-boxed can wear the it for his second job and everyone who can wear it on their first jobs (who have the points) already have it.
I don't see how you can get points for Dynamis if you don't attend it physically- it's great they your character is there but you should not get credit. Yeah, it sucks that you have night school, work at that time, have to sleep, but it sucks more for people who are there and get screwed over.
But honestly, I see no reason to let someone get an item for their second job if people don't have it for their first.
