Genbu with a single party

I'm going to be trying this soon and I recall reading it's been done before with six people but I'm unsure of what set up to use. Right now I'm leaning toward full evasion tanking it as Ninja with a Warrior for back up, all damage coming from DoT's, minor nukes, BP damage and whatever me and said Warrior can put out. I was thinking that kiting it with a full damage-% and enmity build while the mages do the same sort of thing could work too but that would be pretty lame. It's just a small chat LS but with good players and most of us have several jobs at 75 so don't worry about what jobs to take into account. I'm curious how others would do it (or have done it) if it was down to them so opinions are welcome.

Last week some people in our LS decided to fuck around and popped genbu with 4 people while the real ally sat around and watched. They were BST/NIN, BRD, SMN and THF/DRK. The THF didn't really count cause they kept dying everytime they got up (basically stand up, stun, get hate and die, repeat). Basically the BST would just keep sending carrie after it, and the SMN would use Carbie, and they'd just plink away on him. If Carrie or the Carbie were down Genbu would usually go after the BRD so they had fun running all over the goddamn place. Aside from the THF dying they were doing great until the main ally got bored and KSed them at around 80% (it took them close to 40 minutes to get there so everyone was getting bored as hell, but they were doing pretty safe damage).

Party in my LS use to do it as NIN, THF, BLM, BRD, RNG and either RDM or WHM.

We've killed it with 3 lots, but we kite... Straight tanking would be interesting, maybe BRD+NIN+RDM/DRK, which is the way you trio anything in the game anyways.

Genbu w/ 4-6 ppl is fun shit! If your WAR has a different job at 75 he should definetly switch to BLM or MNK, you dont really need a secondary tank cause even if the NIN / PLD dies, you can kite him forever.

If you have a RDM/DRK then your stuns are set for ga III and all that other stuff, WHM isnt a must but if you have someone tanking straight up, it would be a wise precaution.

Hmm, so kiting seems the best option. The five people that would absolutely be there are;

WAR/MNK/PLD/NIN/WHM/BRD.
WAR.
BLM/RDM/WHM/BRD/SMN.
BLM/RDM/BRD/SMN.
BLM/RDM.

I was told that BP damage on Gods is pretty shit (considering how long I've spent up there it's amazing I couldn't remember) but then Black Mage's sucks pretty badly too and everything does low physical damage to Genbu anyway. Maybe I'll have the WAR be the kiter, I go as BRD and we have RDM/DRK, SMN and BLM for damage and stuns.

Is it strange I'm more worried about killing Olla pots with a minimal set up than I am with Genbu?

no Olla is harder then Genbu

BST and SMN would probably be the best two damagers per slot for small man. Both are low enmity DD and can do pretty reasonable dmg to genbu. It should be also noted that BST pets pretty much never hit for 0 unless the mob does invincible, this helps a lot on genbu. BST/NIN can also backup tank reasonably well assuming someone can SATA on him/her.

BST/NIN

RDM/DRK
BRD/WHM

This setup will give you pretty good damage and is reasonably safe with regard to stun. If NIN goes down beast and rdm can kite pretty easy til the situation goes back to normal.

If the situation is under control Mistral/Decimation > Sharkbite is light and a well equiped rdm should be able to get reasonable numbers with thunder III.

BLM does pretty well on Genbu and Seiryu, but we suck ass for damage on Byakko/Suzaku, generally. With max merits you can do OK on Suzaku, but not very good.

But yeah, you can trio Genbu as long as you can stick Gravity on him. Need a RDM with good gear/enfeeb merits to do so reliably.

o yeah don't turn it into an MPK fest @ Genbu like my LS does we get 10k a kill from LS bank if you were to bind it on someone 100k if that person delvls 8)

No. I get bored during fights and keep trying to sleep a god and it's never landed.

I guess the most "unsleepable" mob I've ever seen it land on is NQ Behemoth. Can't say I've tried on adaman or aspid.

Chi mode MNK can operate at full damage pace pretty much no matter how many people are there. Bring a few MNK/WHMs or /NINs, offset your Chis properly and you can just bounce his extremely slow ass around without him ever hitting anyone. Despite Genbu's really high attack, unless you kite yourself into a corner with no buffs on at all he really can't kill you with anything given MNK HP.

Best part about doing it like that is its not gonna take retardedly long the way relying on DoT would. Genbu has something in the general area of 20-25k HP I think, so roughly 20 Chis and its dead.

Bloodpacts are good on gods and should outdamage blms on every god except genbu, I'm assuming. I haven't actually done genbu in a while, but with his high defense, I think it's a fair assumption.

No, Olla is a lot more dangerous than genbu ever will be. Killing genbu with 1 pt is pretty much a joke, people may die if they aren't paying enough attention but you should never come close to wiping. I would say try straight tanking becausing kiting genbu is so ridiculously unchallenging. I killed genbu a few times with about 1 pt and Olla always gave me more trouble.

Suzaku or seiryu with 1 pt would be a whole lot more interesting too.
