While playing ballista as a MNK, I've learned that a PLD is a job to get TP off of so you can go WS on a mage or a DRG.

And anyone who goes MNK/NIN is brain damaged. Good luck keeping up shadows when everyone has DW and spams -gas.

    P.S.: Provoke owns Utsusemi hard.

MNKs, more than most jobs have a difficult time with this combo as it can absorb hits very well (ni AND flash every 45sec w/o haste, 37 with, and ichi to top it off). Our evasion rating isn't TOTAL shit, and we have parrying that has a C cap too I think?

I've rarely had a difficult time taking down the most difficult MNKs in a 1v1 bout, but the battles are very long. Flash can completely negate asuran fists if timed correctly, and has done so consistently for me. Counting enemy shadows takes time and so most people just fire off their WS when they see their attacks getting through again, so after an attack round gets through shadows you can throw down flash - if the MNK is trigger happy he'll fire off asuran and it'll miss completely, also giving you a free attack round or 2 of them missing you. This strategy does not work as well when the MNK is /war because of double attack, but it isn't bad either if the MNK throws up zerk, because you can go to town with vorpal.

If your timers are fucked for a little while. run around with crimson for a bit while they try to catch you. You have MP too, get some distance and cure yourself back up and keep going. Other melees don't have this luxury.

Vorpal Blade IS a decent WS, it's not asuran or rampage overpowered but it can be pretty lethal with a 56dmg rating sword(company).

Joyeuse in offhand + company is a beautiful combo, with the A+ sword rating to go along with suppanomimi's dual weild enhancement and sword skill+. It disperses shadows on pesky war/nins and othermelee/nins very quickly. Makes for an easy fight, good examples are the sam/nins or drk/nins or whateverelse/nin. Kraken club is nice in the offhand for PLD contrary to popular belief, because we have an A- club rating, the highest of all jobs I think(?). Not 100% sure, but we can hit the broadside of a barn with it unlike most jobs.

When fighting NIN/WAR or THF/NIN, dont even bother unless you have some sushi to eat lol, THF/NIN are just too difficult to strip of shadows and damage reliably, but if you manage to get shadows down a well timed holy can kill them or send them on the run if their HP is low. This also works for anyone trying to run away with a tiny bit of HP left, and can be quite the pissoff. Also a nice thing about fighting THFs is the fact that their attacks are so harmless, they're not much of a threat. 0-15 dmg per hit depending on gear setup. Just don't get SA+WS'ed . NINs will take your shadows down quickly and once they start debuffing you, you're pretty much fucked.

Our one glaring weakness is the damn mages as always, RDM moreso than anything. RDM can strip shadows, throw gravity on, silence us and make us walking cat food in a few seconds. PLD with no shadows and gravity is a walking gate breach opportunity sadly, lol. BLM are nice and soft and succumb to vorpal easily, RDM too if you can catch them with their pants down. Throw down a lethe+1 and fire WS, and pray they die haha.

And lastly a little known fact for people who bitch about lullaby... you can quarry while lullaby is on. You can't when sleep is casted on you, it only works for lullaby for whatever reason. So next time you are ready to bitch out the brd just chill and dig yourself some petras or daedalus wings or something.
Nice post. Intelligent, good grammar, well explained. I hope you stick around.

He won't. He'll assume this is a good place to discuss intelligent end game topics, then realize its just a buncha drama and antagonistic assholes, and he'll leave. Oh well, nice post while you're still here.
