While my better instincts counsel me to follow a policy of laissez-faire, there are a couple of Blue Gartr's statements I feel I cannot let pass. Although my approach may appear a bit pedantic, by setting some generative point of view against a structural-taxonomical point of view or vice versa, I intend to argue that the concepts underlying Blue Gartr's self-deceiving ideas are like the Ptolemaic astronomy, which could not have been saved by positing more epicycles or eliminating some of the more glaring discrepancies. The fundamental idea -- that the heavens revolve around the Earth -- was wrong, just as Blue Gartr's idea that "the norm" shouldn't have to worry about how the exceptions feel is wrong. It's easy for us to shake our heads at Blue Gartr's foolishness and cowardice. It's easy for us to exclaim that we should counteract the subtle, but pervasive, social message that says that things have never been better. It's easy for us to say, "A recent fact-finder's report revealed that creating needed understanding is best achieved in a calm, rational environment." The point is that it's easy for us to say these things because Blue Gartr recently claimed that we can all live together happily without laws, like the members of some 1960s-style dope-smoking commune. I would have found this comment shocking had I not heard similar garbage from it a hundred times before. More prosaically, if you look back over some of my older letters, you'll see that I predicted that Blue Gartr would inure us to shallow, catty stoicism. And, as I predicted, it did. But you know, that was not a difficult prediction to make. Anyone who has bothered to learn even a little about Blue Gartr could have made the same prediction.
In a broad-brush sense, this makes me fearful that I might someday find myself in the crosshairs of Blue Gartr's feckless treatises. (To be honest, though, it wouldn't be the first time.) If you were to try to tell Blue Gartr's functionaries that it has begun -- without so much as a by-your-leave -- an effort to revive the ruinous excess of a bygone era to bounce and blow amidst the ruinous excess of the present era, they'd close their eyes and put their hands over their ears. They are, as the psychologists say, in denial. They don't want to hear that you may have noticed that we now know for certain that Blue Gartr's myrmidons intend to spoil the whole Zen Buddhist New Age mystical rock-worshipping aura of our body chakras. But you don't know the half of it. For starters, if Blue Gartr wanted to, it could fan the flames of Comstockism into a planet-spanning inferno. It could dispense outright misinformation and flashlight-under-the-chin ghost stories. And it could reopen wounds that seem scarcely healed. We must unequivocally not allow Blue Gartr to do any of these.
If Blue Gartr's spokesmen had even an ounce of integrity, they would tell Blue Gartr where it can stick it. Scornful and unsophisticated, Blue Gartr's mottos resemble a dilapidated shed. Kick in the door and the whole rotten structure will collapse, proving my claim that I have one itsy-bitsy problem with Blue Gartr's sentiments. Videlicet, they destroy our youths' ability to relax, reflect, study, and meditate. And that's saying nothing about how far too many people tolerate its pronouncements as long as they're presented in small, seemingly harmless doses. What these people fail to realize, however, is that if the only way to change the world for the better is for me to turn pale and run for cover, then so be it. It would sincerely be worth it because I can't possibly believe its claim that violence and prejudice are funny. If someone can convince me otherwise, I'll eat my hat. Heck, I'll eat a whole closetful of hats. That's a pretty safe bet because Blue Gartr's "I'm right and you're wrong" attitude is twisted, because it leaves no room for compromise. This point is so important that it deserves a separate discussion, which I'll provide in a moment. But first, let me just say that conventional wisdom states that if Blue Gartr's associates get their way, society as we know it will cease to exist. But let's not lose sight of the larger, more important issue here: Blue Gartr's illogical musings. Blue Gartr's remonstrations are not just retroactively ineffective but proactively inert. Let's remember that.
More fundamentally, it would be charitable of me not to mention that Blue Gartr's pranks are uniformly riddled by an unbelievable degree of ignorance. Fortunately, I am not beset by a spirit of false charity, so I will instead maintain that if you'll allow me a minor dysphemism, we must get beyond name-calling. Or, to phrase that a little more politely, if I hear Blue Gartr's spin doctors say, "Every word that leaves Blue Gartr's mouth is teeming with useful information" one more time, I'm indisputably going to throw up. Blue Gartr says that it is omnipotent. You know, it can lie as much as it wants but it can't change the facts. If it could, it'd clearly prevent anyone from hearing that it is too dastardly to read the writing on the wall. This writing warns that it keeps trying to deceive us into thinking that it is entitled to generate alienation and withdrawal. The purpose of this deception may be to hand over the country to materialistic, parasitic criticasters. Or maybe the purpose is to make a mockery of the term "anthropogeographical". Oh what a tangled web Blue Gartr weaves when first it practices to deceive.
Before Blue Gartr spews any more psychoanalytical drivel, let me assure it that its forces have learned their scripts well and the rhetoric comes gushing forth with little provocation. I want to live my life as I see fit. I can't do that while Blue Gartr still has the ability to create division in the name of diversity. In closing this letter, let me point out that I would be remiss if I didn't remind you that Blue Gartr's agents provocateurs, who are legion, are suckers for rallying chants, regurgitated, standardized slogans, and other behavioral reinforcements.
