I remember hearing a bit ago that some SE people look at these forums occasionaly. All the gay talk probably scared them away. Next time theres a dumb update we'll have Niro to thank for SE not fixing endgame.

How amazingly useless. There are many things that could be improved and some bugs that have long needed fixing and they do something that... like... why? This is so meaningless. If they were going to do anything with charges you'd have thought they'd have identified items that can be recharged either by NPC like Empress ring or that do so automatically like Tavnazian Ring.

It's not a bad change (I always check charges, but I'm paranoid like that), but they really could have consolidated all three of these version update announcements into one to make it less lackluster.

But since they are drawing it out on useless/boring news, it probably means this update is going to have even less new content than the last one.

That seems too good. It will drop a shadow mantle -1 which along with a shadow mantle will turn into this.

The playonline website actually has a list of the NA premier sites but unfortunately they are either not populated or populated by too many. I would love if Stratics forums saw more action and people actually wanted to critique the game in a proper fashion... not like this... omg SE is teh gay or SE is racist because they listened to a JP.

Unfortunately I get no submissions, our forums are dead and I have little motivation to write articles that a insignificant portion of the FFXI population will read or respond to because it's not enough to bring to SE's doorstep with enough backing that they might look into it.

AK's forums aren't really all that moderated in a sense, sure they'll throw the odd update up there that has a small flare of personal touch but for the most part they are a comprehensive database and a forum where you can run your mouth off with little to no regret or reprecussion. I don't think they want to add the personal touch, and that's cool.

Warcry, I don't know a lot about warcry. They seem to have a nice looking site and get the news updates up but who knows about community flavor.


Anyways, this update isn't useless... it's just not what people expect. Like most of us, were all looking for an overhaul on a big chunk of the game. However no amount of SE bashing in forums is going to make them take an opinion seriously. Think somethings broken? Come up with how to fix it, maintain balance with other known game issues and put it in a constructive article and send it to a premiere site... I don't care which one. If it's well done and the site cares about that kind of thing they might post it, if the site gets traffic then people will read it and if it gets enough response SE might be forced to look at it eventually. Send it to their submissions thing too on playonline... but all you people who just jump into a forum and say "GG SE" aren't helping in the slightest and you can keep whining all you want but the only people who are going to see it is other people doing the exact same thing.

No, it's useless. If you can't pay attention and look at what you're buying to make sure it isn't partially depleted you deserve to get fucked.

What would you rather have gilsellers eradicated or this? I know which one I'd rather have dealt with and you wanna know why that is? Because there's fuck all I can do to stop gilsellers whereas I could fix this awesome patch by simply paying attention.

(don't read into the gilsellers part, it was just one of the many FFXI problems that we as players can't fix and only square can that we can all relate to)

Well I won't waste precious time defining the words useless and expectation to you. Whether you find little worth in it, then the proper terminology would be WORTHLESS. We as players expect more but a change is a change none the less. If it saves me 2 seconds when looking through the 100 rolanberry bazaars seeing a distinctive color instead of having to actually focus on the number then so be it. Nevertheless constantly crying about it with the, woe is me... SE hates me because I'm NA statement every other post... nobody cares anymore.

What I want and whether a fix serves a purpose or not are too different things. Which was the message behind my whole post, though it seems you failed to notice it.

I'm just tired of all the whining... I go to AK these days and I see no difference here than there... yet we all seem to poke fun at people on AK. If you want stuff to change then I posted suggestions on trying something new, or else just keep crying here where nobody is really listening and everyone is thinking the exact same thing.

I think this is useless. If anything, they should have made more colors as your item dropped in charges. I wanted a rainbow.

Am I going to bitch at SE though? No, not really, because its not the meat of the update. They are just stalling time and making people excited, because a new PvP and three new limbus areas are coming out. I'm not going to throw a brick in SEs window over this. Its kind of sad that people who've been 75 this long and still don't know how SE releases their update information.

Visual Clarity: Enchanted Items

The number of charges left on an enchanted item will display differently in the item description window after the February version update.

The FINAL FANTASY XI development team is continually examining measures to improve the clarity of the game's visuals, and is aware that some players buy enchanted items from bazaars without realizing how many charges are left on the item. Listening to the concerns of the players, we have decided to improve the way the number of charges left on enchanted items is displayed.

The next version update will introduce the following changes to number displays in the dispensing/enchanted items description window.

The color of the number of charges, the counter, recast time, and equip delay will change in the following manner.

Blue = The item is fully charged.
White = The item has been used (not fully charged, but some charges are left).
Red = No charges are left on the item.

These changes were decided based on comments received from a Japanese Premier Community site. We will continue to make announcements regarding updates and player feedback using the "Topics" section on the FINAL FANTASY XI main page and our Premier sites from around the world.

They know, people just like complaining. I mean there are times when I do too... but sometimes it's excessive.

Not everything can be monumental and when your talking SE you shouldn't expect monumental.

I think the message that people should get out of this is that SE pays attention and maintains contact with what they regard as premier sites, and that people should be working with those to get their opinions actually heard. Not by spamming SE hates me though, as that obviously doesn't work on AK. Most people will ignore this fact though and continue crying until they get their way... which their parents should have told them no longer works for those aged 5 and above. I'm being ignored though and if I say it one more time I'll start sounding like them.
