    Provoke isnt Jesus Christ, it's only 1 of the many tools a PLD can use to keep hate.

    holding hate in ff simply means not getting hit
    that's the cornerstone of ff pve, and while it's pretty creative, it's kind of flawed from a lot of persepctives

    so, pld/nin can deck out in enmity and flash for more hate than a pld/war in dmg redux's provoke, not take hits, keep the hate. it's a great workaround. we first saw it done by pg&way right around when tiamat came out.

    what's completely baffling is how square knew (at least god i hope they knew) hate decays with damage taken, and then have been quoted as saying NIN isnt a tank job. wtf.

    I find that equally baffling. SE is aware of subjobs...is aware how much getting hit diminishes hate. Yet somehow claim they were broadsided by the fact that NINs have become tanks? Perhaps we all just give the devs too much credit, but thats ALOT of game designers and playtesters and just about every part of the FFXI staff that missed the obvious outcome of NINs eventually becoming tanks. I find that hard to swallow.

    So with the heavy dmg BLMs do with magic bursts the PLDs will still hold hate? I'm guessing light SC + Thunder burst is the way to take the wyrms down? I've also see Jorm spam blizzaga or some form of AOE blizzard type spell. From the look, I dont think you can catch it fast enough to stun. Do you just take the hit and move on?

    They said nin wasnt DESIGNED as a tank job, not isnt. Players made something else out of it and then they changed the game around it.

    have you even seen jorm before?

    blizz is easy enough to stun, BLM's or SMM's can do good damage on him (as can /thf heavy melee)

    you could poke his asshole if u want, heard it does 50% more damage on wyrms too.

    and about the hate holding... did you read the few posts around this...?

    any job will keep hate when they are not hit... and over a longer fight like a COP wyrm, a good tank will have a massive amount of hate built up.

    BLM's can logout to reset hate, and smn's dmg is hate free.

    I also think the one of the main reasons NINs have terrible hate decay compared to a PLD is because of Very Low CHR. The second I turn backwards my hate starts going down faster than a crackwhore. I tanked ZM8 for a friend as PLD/NIN because of no WHM. It was so much fucking easier than PLD/WAR. Little mix between att/STR gear and Enmity and it was cake.

    I'm waiting for the flames now. 8)

    Noooo, hate decay is caused by a factor of 40% CHR 30% MND 30% INT >.>; PLD and NIN lose some hate when one of their shadows is taken. If your sig's accurate then at 65 NIN you probably don't have a complete HNM enmity setup. I imagine a PLD/NIN uses more haste and enmity gear than PLD/WAR. Would you trade things like full Koenig & Warwolf belt for Homam / Speed belt / AF2 / etc.?

    If you do /shutdown and wait for about 1 minute before logging back in your hate resets. I guess it's a loophole in the system? I dunno lol.

    It is stunnable, you just have to have a damn good stunner. The spell is almost instant unlike Timmy's Firaga so you need to have a dedicated stunner watching for it at all times pretty much. Unforetunately ours was on 56k and we ate it a couple times, but at one point he (stunner) got it almost every single time it went off and it was <3

    yea, i should have wrote /shutdown. /shutdown, go take a piss/refill drink etc, come back, have very reduced hate on the mob.

    a simple logout for less than 30 seconds will not do, as i found out when i was a new blm.

    and yes, i'm sure about this.

    did the sams and drk sub thf? and if they did, did they trick onto the tanks, or did they sneak their weaponskills behind jormy?

    also, logging onto a mule resets hate... ive found that faster at camps when im subbing war or coming as rng, every 3-4k dmg ill hop over to a mule, then come back and it's completely wiped.
