Maybe I should have phrased it: "key item for a good thief's job." You can certainly pull without them, but hell you can kill mobs and get treasure without a Thief's Knife too, but a good thief is going to try to get one of those as well.

There are few buyable items that give as big of a boost to THF as striders, and few other non-consumables that I can think of that give the job the abililty to do things it otherwise can't, like kite a lot more mobs forever.

Theres a reason an item that is relativly commonly dropped and useable by only 2 fairly unpopular jobs costs so much fricken money. Because it's bloody godly.

Point taken. I thought you were comparing to something like Scorpion Harness, which really is essential lol (unless you have Homam body 8) )

And i think that Strider's actually probably are essential for dynamis pulling.

Overall though, I think that for normal use Striders benefit the RNG puller much more than they benefit the THF puller.

Durr, dynamis pulling is easy. My shell does it with a rdm/xyz (usually nin or blm) and when he dies due to a sac or bad luck or whatever, I take over as mnk/whm.

The only place where mobs catching the puller is actually a problem is xarcabard and striders aren't gonna help you against demon run speed.

I would definitely not classify striders as a "key item" for the thf job.

Yeah definetly wouldn't help. May as well wear dusk. At least that will reduce your utsusemi casting time.

Helps in bastok when pulling the mega boss and kiting the Effigy Shields around for long periods of time, or any time for that matter that there's a large pull that needs to be kited for a while (minus demons).

lol why would you kite them? They're as hard as any other NM in the zone. Just have everyone go to the North Gusta gate, then ES+Sleepga on the effigies, and then everyone kill boss > kill stone, then kill the 4 Effigies that pop with him.

i dunno lol that's just how we do it. btw they are much harder than the other NMs in the zone, primarily because of their TP moves and AoE attacks.

    Wtf...pulling in exp?

As a 75 thf, there are two reasons for Striders:

    1) Pulling Dynamis.
    2) E-penis.

With maybe a 3rd if you're going to pull Abraxes, but I don't have trouble with them anyway.

Didn't read the longer posts but just so you know I sold a pair of Striders overnight on Ragnarok for 50mil about 2 weeks ago. Probably could get more now.

I agree they aren't worth much because of the weak stats, but damn they look so hot, best looking boots in game and definitely +2inches to your e-penis :D

It's a bloody easy sac pull, if the shields really pose that much of a problem.

12% movement is the difference between getting aggro and outrunning a train of mobs and surviving while solo. Its the difference between running away from someone in ballista, or running down another person in ballista. Its the difference between being in control of adds at Jorm or Tiamat and outrunning a Corse or bomb. To say that a couple stats of dex or agi outweigh all of the above...is rediculous.
Just wanted to post that reading this column was like nails on a chalkboard while watching several young girls be raped by larger african american classmates with drills grinding into the mouths of incarcerated baby seals... Nothing you posted is a 'difference' at all. You posted similar cases all supported by use of the boots, yet felt the need to put the word 'difference' in each example.... "Its the difference between the grass being short, and the grass being green"

No. Particularly the bolded statement... you never even state what the 'difference' is, you just state a situation...

I heard theives suck and rangers get crimson (they too suck now), so why are people arguing about strider boots?

The definiton of kiting is being able to survive while the mob you are keeping hate on is following you, why do you think pld's and rng's get crimson legs? (its merely a toy for rdm's) If a rng w/o crimson or a thf is KITING something, then yes the boots are worth the +12% movement speed, its how rng outruns bombs in Ul Range and deaggros it(during Jorm), rinse/repeat. The opposite effect of strider's/crimson/ninja Af feet is gravity on the mob, ever notice how mobs that can catch up to you can beat you down, and you die(or be a huge manasink thus eventually hate can move to something more squishy)? Its the utilization of the movement speed to an advantage in kiting.

On a side note, it isnt worth the price tag, BUT if you have it and that utility of it is used, they are an invaluable piece of equipment.

Have you guys learned nothing from MMOs?

If something is expensive and rare it is therefore the best.

But who wouldn't want crimson and striders? So you can put them, and an aketon, on your level 73 RNG mule so you can turn the Windurst Woods AH run into a Bastok Mines one.

    They probably do not stack.

I know for sure that Aketons and Crimson does not stack, and I heard the same about Striders and Crimson.

And Windurst does sucks for quick access from mog house to auction house.

windurst gets screwed in every way possible.

1; lame ass AH is miles away from mog house
2; spiny spipi is our 'good' NM. bastok gets lizzy and sandy gets jack
3; tahrongi canyon. not only is this place ugly and annoying to walk through, our NM is a god damn dhalmel that drops something worse less than my toenail clipping, no cool ram.
4; nothing that great to farm. woot yagudo feathers
5; what a pain in the ass it is to get to the dunes from windy
6; did i mention the lame ass AH being miles away from mog house?

anyway, kinda wish i was elvaan and started in sandy <.<
