Houston, 4th largest city in the nation, has 6 million people living in it or its surrounding areas, are all those people stupid too? Houston gets hit by hurricanes, tornadoes, bad floods, then the next week there will be a drought and fire warnings. Have you ever heard of the northridge earthquake fucker? My house was destroyed, and my family almost lost practicaly EVERYTHING. We where moments away from backruptcy from the loss and through it all the us government did nothing. but you didnt hear us in that area screaming the race card every time we needed help. You are such a fucking waste of sperm, your mother should have drowned you and sold the milk.

Second dont assume i dont know what happenes with my tax dollars. I know there is tons of money wasted in this government and it infuriates me. Not everyone has the ability to return home. Their is no flood insurance for renters for instance. Also some of the worst hit areas are just now getting power back on and sewer and water hooked up as well.

FEMA trailers are coming in but slowly.

Also to whomever posted that NOLA is dead center in every hurricane path you could not be further from the truth. I have lived here for 25 years now and we have never had a direct hit. Even Katrina was not a direct hit.

I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I had family to go to and the means to get there. My company was absolutely wonderful and set me and the rest of my office up in apartments accross the US from Tampa Bay to Los Angeles. Many of "Those people" as you describe them were not so lucky. They worked crappy jobs and live paycheck to paycheck.

Evacuation orders came way too late and many people were forced to stay. Many more turned back when faced with the traffic. (I left at 4am Saturday and it took me 4 hours to make what is normally a 45 minute trip.) One of my co-workers spent 5 hours to go about 30 miles before she turned around and came back. She had to be picked up off of her roof by helicopter.

The mass transit down here sucks. So people that need to evacuate that have no car are screwed.

Also your point about the money supposed to go toward food it incorrect. Those were seperate balances. FEMA bascially just deposited money into the bank account you gave them to do whatever with. Food stamp cards were also available but this could not be used to purchase a designer purse. Not defending the purchase of a $1000 purse just pointing out that it wouldn't be food money.

As to the issue of 2 hotel rooms my question would be to ask how many family members there were that were living there. I am willing to bet that there was more than just the husband and wife. I also fail to see how them needing a hotel room means that they have no respect for those around them. Were they trashing the hotel rooms or something?

Furthermore you also alude to it that you would be smart enough to leave if there was a warning of a natural disaster. Clearly you do not live along the Gulf Coast. Hurricanes are just something that you have to deal with. They are very unpredictable and often even if you aren't in the direct path you can still get damage. If you were to leave everytime your area was in the warning zone you would litterally be evacuating every 3-4 weeks.

Just because people are able to decide that they might want to make love to someone of the same sex, doesn't mean that everyone who is attracted to the same sex made that decision. People are capable of choices, that's true. I can't really think of a good example to use at the moment...
