lmao Amarok... yeah they are going with more simple songs and actual singing... my friend let me hear it in the car the other day.. I heard singing and said WTF .. did In Flames just sell out? I haven't heard any of their stuff in a while so forgive me if I didn't hear them singing before since the only CD I ever had of theirs was Jester Race. Well In Flames can rest easy in knowing them and At the Gates spawned a whole bunch of bands who tried to sound like them. Death Metal was so much better in the 90s it isn't even fucking funny.

Agreed.

Funny how so many groups cite them as their influence and now they try to sound like everyone else. I heard one of their more recent songs and just laughed at how blatently it sounded like Korn.

They probably said to themselves.. hmm we need to do something really lame to make alot of money. There are lots of bands that sound like In Flames (ripoffs of At the Gates too *cough*blackdhaliamurder*cough*). They thought there was something that needed to be done to differentiate themselves from all the bands ripping off the Gothenburg sound. So they went and copied some lame ass Nu Metal bands and put whiny emotional singing in their songs. I didn't like In Flames much to start with anyway lol. They were better than At the Gates though.. metal really has gotten shitty.

I didn't know singing in songs was a thing to look down upon

I have never heard any of their stuff so my opinion on the specific band doesn't count but if the only reason you think they suck now is because they sing... then uh... don't listen to music. If there are other reasons for why they suck now then ignore me.
