Ah Wafik, I wish I could PT with Brennon heh...

Yeah, some WHM's are fast like lightning on the Blindna, I've had a WHM who would be casting before the damn Black Cloud Animation was done, which is good in a sense, and bad in another...

The only thing Sushi really has in KRT is is that you still hit like 95% even when blind, but the damage different isn't worth it imo, just suck it up and buy some Visine.

Russta, I use a similar setup except I am not a big fan of the shura set and I like all my gear to be rare ex or signed by me hehe

I use osode for body, and i switch between bandomusha kote and temple gloves+1 for ws and seiryu kotes if i need to tank something hard and melee gloves for chakra etc. lots of my macros depend on me carrying around a ton of extra gear to swap in.
For headgear I switch between optical hat and melee crown, some pieces are really ugly to me like genbu kabuto/shura head, dune boots etc so I don't usually wear them
For neck i have a flame and thunder gorget to swap in at ws, and the rest of the time i usually use an awesome 3k genome signed spike necklace. Feet I tend to use melee boots for the extra hp and DEX mostly and I use counterstance when things go bad like if a mob casts sleepga on PT and I was 1st voker and now i have to solo it. <3 counterstance and counters
For earrings i have brutal too but other one is usually fenrir or diabolos because they are rare ex and i tend to leave non-rare ex stuff on mules.

At least in my personal experience, I don't see much effect of adding a bit of extra STR or acc from shura etc but I see a huge difference with DEX+ in the amount of criticals I do. I have max merits in crit% so 10% crit and maxed h2h which both make a big difference.

About blindness I don't get blindna much but then again i still hit pretty well even with blind on, some blind seems to be stronger (dark sphere from ghosts and dark claw from dogs) so I just use chakra on those to blindna myself. I usually don't have space to carry medicines etc.

In mnk pts I seem to be capped on damage somehow, criticals always do 200-210ish damage at most regardless of how i swap gear, and my highest asurans also seem to be around 1300-1350, and those I get also without swapping in legs neck gloves etc. I can't tell the difference from those darn flame gorget etc.
That's why i love DEX and criticals, because increasing frequency of criticals is one area where I can make the biggest impact, together with counters and kicks frequency, and kick damage with dune boots i guess too.

Also I kinda like to be able to do everything with just 48k gil total in gear hehe (spike neck 3k, amemit NQ 5k , 1 ruby ring 40k)

I've managed to do that without buying eye drops.

The thing about KRT PTs is that everyone has to pull their weight otherwise you aren't gonna get good exp. But it's hard to get a good PT with serious people when everyone thinks they can just half ass it and get chain omgwtfbbq and 15k an hour.

Also I PT'd with the RDM Elf who didn't have WHM leveled (Thevian I think?) Worst RDM ever.

having a rdm experienced in these PTs who would stand up as soon as he heard bard pulling macro saying a sorcerer or lemures was pulled and started to move in to dispel and then silence just in case. Having monks wait for dispel is undesirable, as we both agree, but the best solution is rdm casting dispel right away as mob is being pulled, so nobody has to wait for anything.
Since when did a good RDM sit to rest MP? >< Unless there's some serious strain on MP from previous fights, there probably isn't time for the RDM to rest.
Edit: Maybe rdm should rest... I've never gotten past chain 42ish, so perhaps this is the secret to reaching the ever lasting chains. (Though usually its not an issue of MP, but rather... we're too lazy to silent oil over to the smaller circle loop with the secret room)

I agree, RDM should be the backup dispeller, incase the mob recasted ice spikes. The mnks should not wait for dispel though. When I see mnks fighting bones, I often cast Paralyna on the MNKs, regardless of if they are paralyzed to save time. Its not worth it to have 3 mnks sitting out of the battle waiting for dispel.

anyway, back to the original guide:

    Modifications:
WHM and RDM can each haste 1-2, split it accordingly (usually depending on which mage is better / less lazy), not rdm 1-3 and whm 0-1

BRD does not have time to minuet x2 and ballad x2 before the mob dies, chances are, there is only enough time to cast 1-2 songs. Have the BRD alternate which ones he/she sings so that at any time, melee have both songs up, and mages hopefully have ballad II on. The BRD can occasionally pull two mobs back to back, so that there is enough time for ballad.

You should write down the name of the TP attack that causes atk down, so the mages know when to cast erase. (I still don’t remember which one, fear touch or terror touch) or something like that...

    BRD/RDM {Thanks for the offer, but I'd have to pass}
Using the RDM sub means faster songs, more time to do stuff. BUT the brd loses curaga, curaga2, erase (incase he/she gets bound or gravity on pull), paralyna (Howling), and Divine Seal.
By using a WHM sub, you can share the curing load and spend the MP on curagas. The 3 MNKs are dealing plenty of dmg, so it is very safe for the BRD to toss curaga 2's. This allows the RDM to have another person to refresh (yes, this is a good thing). The more ppl recieving / using refresh, the better.

New Suggestions: (Sorry, not many tips for MNKs, I’m a taru mage)
    Barblizzara:
RDM or WHM should always barblizzara before fighting Hati, so that there’s a high chance that the party is not paralyzed by Howling’s AOE.

    RDM pulling:
RDM can occasionally pull if the BRD needs time to sing songs and use some MP. It gives the brd time to spend MP curing, and receive refresh from the RDM (The more people using MP and have refresh, the better).
If the RDM pulls, use silence vs mages (and dispel upon reaching camp), or Paralyze on warriors.

    RDM + WHM who cures?
There are many different styles of play for the rdm and whm. I prefer having the rdm cast curagas, while the whm uses Regen 3s and cure 5s. This allows the whm to do a quick big cure and go back to resting, while the RDM is keeping everyone’s HP at a healthy percent.

    WHM using flash?!
The whm could use flash when the mob has around 70% HP. For a low cost of MP, you can blind the mob for the rest of the fight, making its Hell Slash useless.

    Links
During links, RDM should gravity one of the yellow mobs. Since the mob was only agroed (probably from yellow HP), the mob will chase the RDM. With gravity on, it renders the mob useless, while the BRD has time to recover and sleep it.
Meanwhile, the WHM (depending on HP and situation) could flash one of the links, similar to gravity, it will buy time for the BRD to sleep it.

Dia 2: (this one's kinda simple)
To control the speed of the kill, the RDM should cast Dia 2 on the mob. Usually, it is a good thing to cast Dia 2 at the beginning of each fight. The fight is quick, so either cast at the start or save your MP for the next fight. If there are no mobs around, or the next pull is still on the way, do not cast Dia 2. Prolong the fight, while everyone gets ready to move on to the next mob.

    Divine Seal {When?}
Use divine seal for Cursna. Sometimes, it is helpful for Howling, but for the most part, the rdm and whm can each paralyna one mnk, so there's no need to save the recast time of paralynaing the third mnk (for RDM, its practically no recast time) If the party is low on MP, then feel free to use Divine Seal + curaga, to make the most of your last ounce of MP.

My tiny bit of advice for MNKs:
Pay attention and start moving as soon as you can. I recommend you turn off auto lock before the mob is dead. This way, you can start running to the next mob before you even disengage from the fight. For switching targets, if /autotarget didn't work, you can manually switch targets just before mob dies, which produces a similar effect as /autotarget.

    ---

BRD's worst enemy = lack of time to do stuff (RDM sub solves this, but generates many other issues of its own)
RDM's worst enemy = Running out of MP before the convert timer
WHM's worst enemy = Resting MP for long durations of time, make sure you can reach the party in time, for emergency cures.
MNK's worst enemy = The time it takes to get from one mob to the next on long pulls.

a BRDs worst enemy is getting to the next enemy on time.

a MNKs worst enemy is Howling, lazy mage(s) or an unbanished Lemures.

Well, thats what I mean about BRDs having not enough time to do stuff, cuz they gotta pull every few seconds.

As for MNK, well, like I said, I'm just a mage. I don't have any first hand experience. From the mages point of view, one of the most obvious differences between a good mnk and bad mnk is how quickly they begin attacking the next mob / run toward the long pulls. (And I guess it never occured to me haha, fearing bad mages, since I'm always one of the mages)... Sometimes, I am worried if my mage partner the rdm or whm is good. (I play whichever job we can't find seeking pt, but prefer my rdm).

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try to test them and add them in my guide as options soon.
All sound pretty good, I definitely agree about the rdms casting dispel even if uncertain and melees not waiting.

Tsunade, about monks engaging next mob however, I have to disagree from my own personal experience. It's best to keep autolock on all the times. If you leave the first mob too soon it can actually backfire on you, he could take just those few extra seconds more to kill to break a chain if monks damage is split between mobs, especially if mob does a drain aoe on his last leg.
Instead, if you have autolock on and are facing the right way, you can start pressing run while still damaging the current mob, and you won't run out until the second the mob is actually dead, and can engage the next mob right away without any problem or the need to take your weapons down and draw them out again, but also without the risk of spreading damage thin too soon.

A few other small things can also be improvements for monks, for example knowing when to use tp and when to save tp for next mob to keep chain up, or being aware of other people's tp and guessing who will use it and when. Or remembering to use berserk and focus frequently and when to use warcry, and even how to time job abilities so that they take the least delay from current attack turns (e.g. if you press your macro so that it starts with boost+ws right after a punch-punch-punch-kick animation starts, instead of at the end, you basically save an extra turn).

Personally, I'd never go to a MNK party as BRD/RDM. I'd never do most things as a BRD/RDM really. /WHM offers so much more than a second or two off the cast time that /RDM offers. Bones parties especially, because I find the curagas/paralynas/cursnas/whatevernas are essential for me to use as often as possible to let the mages save MP so the chains can keep going.

Absolutely hate it when neither the RDM or BRD dispels ice spikes. If they refuse to cast it at all, I break out the (Ice Spikes) <annoyingcall> macro RDMs always seem to be good about Dia2 + Haste tho ;o Makes my job easier :D

Don't xp on whm much, but the few times I've been in 3MNK RDM BRD WHM pt, don't think I've seen a single MNK use eye drops. Doesn't bother me though.

MNK's should turn around for the chance that they swing a split second before dispel goes off. Other than that, dispel isn't needed...

Also, we don't silence it unless it's casting a damage spell.

As a side note, the BRD I normally do mnk PT's with prefers RDM sub over WHM sub for the fast cast. Fast Cast + Manteel + Minstrel Earring + Rostrums helps cut down the time singing and keep up on pulls...

I think brd/rdm is a bad option. Im a 75rdm, and I always go krt as RDM/BLM. I do the pulling. I pull the Blm's with Silence, and the bard is there to finale or lullaby depending on the other mob the Monks are fighting.

brd/rdm would take out the curaga factor that helps keep that much more MP strain off the WHM. Maybe some of you think RDM pulling in krt is a bad idea, and maybe thats the case if your RDM sucks, like alot of them do. RDM pulling means

1: BLM sorc can't cast some tier III aga on pull that monks have to wait for to kill.

2: BRD can focus on both songs on monks and whm. (I use vermy and always strech my mp till next convert so I don't need both ballads).

    3. Ice spikes only once. and the BRD dispel's after I pull with silence.

Thus far my highest krt chain is 46, and when I go to krt as RDM, i always perfer to pull. How many other ppl have Pt's where RDM's pull? B/C I don't think it happens much but I know its very effective.

Also, RDM/BLM owns b/c if monks are saving TP for Lemur's I can nuke down the skele or doggy with a thunder III.

Edit: Plus I pull with gravity many times on the other skele's to give the brd more time to finish his songs and save myself from getting hit. Plus stoneskin + phalanx always up, can take 3-4 good hits before it's torn off.

    Interesting.
    RDM pulling means

1: BLM sorc can't cast some tier III aga on pull that monks have to wait for to kill.
On this I actually never found it to be a big deal, because even if a mob casted say thundaga3, the puller can just run out of range np. I never really got hit by a tier3 aga that way on pull (only on add from hp agro hehe).

I think those are good points with rdm pulling and rdm/blm working too, but I have been in some parties with those choices and they happened to be bad, so I am inclined to think that those choices can work wonderfully if everyone involved is skilled, but that the usual mold setup with rdm whm bard and bard pulling is harder to screw up or simpler to get right or can handle a bit of slack from people in party not being as experienced somehow, so I think I would still recommend that setup to a beginner or random party, and maybe these other more 'advanced' setups with 2 rdms, or with rdm pulling etc to people that want to try them and think they can pull it off and get them to work well.

Plus often rdms are already aggravated having to cast haste and dispel, and really don't want to pull, lazy bastards  , and i can't blame them too much because I wouldn't want to do that either it seems like a lot of extra work lol

I read that on page 3, and it made me wonder how monks around the servers use counterstance.

I'm a big fan of counter, because of the bigger damage you deal, and the lower damage you take (when you counter, not when you don't), and I keep counterstance up all the time. It works very well now that I have capped counter and H2H merits and use CCs, but was working ok when I was a fresh lv75 monk.

So how do you guys use counterstance ?

As for using WS, I think 1 MNK WS a fight is enough although more then likely you'll have a bucket load of TP so, 2 is maximum you're MNKs should ever do a fight.

The only time you actually chain 3 WS is on Lemures.

You should also be able to kill a Skel fast enough without WS while maintaining a chain (for TP).

Another thing I noticed is MNKs using WS at low HPs in non desperate situations. AND that some MNKs never seem to use anything but Asuran Fists.

I wonder what does more damage: An Asuran for 900 damage, or a Raging Fists for 800 + 200-400 damage? I tend to use Dragon Kick after Asuran, cause I like the way DK looks. 8)

Or realize this, read up a few more posts. Notice that i'm a 75RDM, who is complaining of other bitch ass piece of shit rdm's that makes everyone think RDM's are shitty ( which most are ). I go to KRT as RDM/BLM as I posted before. so I dont have any paralyna blinda to do. also notice that with a Vermy Cloak, and Refresh on yourself, your getting HOW MUCH MP BACK THAT YOU SPENT? a good amount of it, so dont act like you just lost some precious 200MP omg. And I dont know if you have Galka MP or anything , but when using food im at around 920HP/900MP as Hume, so after you've done 1 cycle of your jobs... your down a few hundred MP wow.... then convert will be up... so realize RDM has a shitton of MP, quit being a pussy RDM.
