    I think everyone is missing the fact that there are two new quests in the DAT files. Granted, I could obviously be wrong here, but:

    Quest Name: Shadows of the Departed
    Quest Nation: Jeuno
    Client: Esha'ntarl (Audience Chamber, Ru'Lude Gardens)
    Summary: Strange readings have been recorded from the Emptiness surrounding the mothercrystals. Travel to the crags of Holla, Dem, and Mea and investigate the coordinates where this phenomenon is occurring.


    Quest Name: Apocalypse Nigh
    Quest Nation: Jeuno
    Client: Esha'ntarl (Audience Chamber, Ru'Lude Gardens)
    Summary: The next incarnation of the Keeper of the Apocalypse is attempting to cross over into Vana'diel. Sing the Lay of the Immortals before the fifth mothercrystal and put an end to this threat once and for all!

    The quest everyone is talking about is the first one, Shadows of the Departed. It's possible that these two quests are completely unrelated. It's possible that Apocalypse Nigh is flagged simply by having Bahamut #2 cleared, and that Shadows of the Departed, the one that everyone is doing in this thread by going to the crags and shit, has nothing to do with Bahamut.

    I have Bahamut #1&#2, Shadows of the Departed, and all of Zilart/COP completed. Once you get all three of the key items and return to Ru'Lude Gardens you get a quest completed jingle. My money's on them being related. You probably have to wait at least until JP midnight after finishing the first quest or there is some other cutscene in Riverene BO1 / Pso'Xja / Monarch Linn / Tavnazia Safehold that we are missing.

    To people who just cant read the patch notes..

    - The Sequel to "Storms of Fate"

    The quest "Storms of Fate," which brought players into direct conflict with the mighty Bahamut, was introduced in the December 2005 version update. This February, prepare for the next chapter in this epic story with a new quest to challenge the most powerful of adventurers.

    *The Rise of the Zilart and Chains of Promathia expansion discs must be installed and registered in order to undertake this quest. Certain storyline progression in both expansion discs is also required.
    This is a Sequel to Storms of Fate.. there is no relation to Bahamut #2 so stop trying to relate it.

    Yes I just finished zmissions off today, have cop completed and have done bahumant 1 & 2 the orb battle isnt part of the story its an optional bcnm with item drops. I think these two missions are related. I am hoping since those earrings are the reward for beating the next bcnm(or whatever) like choosing the three rings. Since the avatar battles seem to only yeild a carbuncles pole hopefully these quests have some purpose.

    You don't need to fight Ouryu to do this new quest to get the earring's if that's what you mean. Bahamut #1 BC's only requirement is 100% of COP being finished. You don't need to beat Ouyru to do the first Bahamut BC. You don't need the second Bahamut BCNM to do the new quest earring BCNM.

    I have done the first Bahamut BC... completed CoP (of course), beat RoZ.. why the hell can't I get the cutscene lol.

    Thought you needed a monarch orb for the first Bahamut BCNM. Regardless, my LS doesn't seem too motivated to do the Bahamut BCNM as we haven't been too successful with wyrm attempts in the past.

    btw I said "I hope" the earrings come from this bcnm unless its confirmed its only speculation on what if anything is rewarded.

    I think its a very very good possibility. After all, they have the same model as the DM Earrings (Which is that of a Bloody Ear as though they were taken straight from the head of the AAs <.<;; ) and since this mission/quest/whateverthehellitis is so tied to ZM and CoP, I think they are just close enough together to make sense. Speculation from the .dats suggests that you have to fight both of the Brothers at the same time, so 2 mobs, 4 Ears, 4 earrings, it works. As I type this, I'm hit with a flash of Insight!!!! If you all remember, the stats on the Divine Might earrings reflect the mob that they were torn off of, Suppa=Hume(NIN/WAR=Dual Wield/Sword), Busha=Galka(SAM/DRG=STR/GKT), Abysal=Taru(INT/Scyth/Dark Magic)Beastly=Mithra(umm, not sure of the stats, but I remember it was very BST friendly), Knightly(or whatever)=Elvaan(PLD/WHM=Divine Magic/VIT/Shield). Why mention this? Well... lets look at the new Earrings.

    I have only gotten to ZM14 (Did Divine Might) so i'm not sure of the ZM17 fight, but I can guess just by the stats of these Earrings. Looking back, I'm pretty sure that the Hollow Earring reflects the abilities of the Arch Duke, the Enspell Damage+ is a dead givaway (How many RDMs have looked as his Enspells with Envy? I know I have). I don't know which other Earring would best suit the Arch Duke because its been so long since I fought him, but if you think of each earring as being a small bit of the essance of these mobs (As the DM Earrings were, I mean c'mon, you ripped their ear off for christs sake) then it makes perfect sense.

    that Etheral Earring would be hawt for my solo-ing RDM ass but that Static Earring would be nice for stoneskin too >< oh so hard to choose
