Please tell me you've noticed that Magic Attack is kept completely seperate from magic defense in calculations and that it's a flat 1% bonus for each point of Matk. Please. Please tell me you have.

In case you didn't notice, that's not a detailed foruma just a basic listing in the order things come in. INT is calculated before magic attack bonus, and staves/mb gear is before all that. Ele staves arnt actually magic attack bonus, since they influence the base dmg of the spell, like the blm trait magic atk bonus, the gear only multiplies after everything else is said and done.

Hmm... I'd like to say it's MAB before MDB, but I can't say for sure.

I know it comes from The Forbidden Forum, but there are well written posts about spell damage. In my experience, it's accurate enough to predict damage changes experienced when changing whatever gear, but currently doesn't consider how MDB works within the formula (straight percentage cut vs direct mod against MAB).

what hnms are you people fighting where elemental skill doesn't matter? or do you just not care if you get resisted 50% of the time as long as you do 1600 thunder IV bursts occasionally? with full elemental magic merits/gear against something that resists really highly like kirin, you will rarely get resisted, something like 1/10

Pardon for going all Alla on this, but Hirro and I have been having this eternal argument.
MND vs. INT
I believe, through the joy of nuking as RDM, that elemental magic defense is determinted by INT.
For example, mob has X int. You cast burn, mob loses... 15INT, your nukes go up in damage. We all know that right? Right.

HIRRO ON THE OTHER HAND, is convinced that Elvaans are blessed with the highest magical defense, because MND determines elemental defense.
So, basically, that would mean elvaans are a broken race since they have 2nd highest VIT, but also, the highest magic defense.
