My ps2 was from NA launch too, died about 9 months ago completely. I thought about getting it repaired, but when Sony released the slim PS2 I just grabbed that instead.Originally Posted by Gregorio

From what I've gathered, they're releasing a new undead zone that seems like it'll be another KRT part. Might be fun, god!

I liked CoP, but I hated the fact that they released it in installments. If they just release the whole goddamn thing at once, I'll be content.
It was great being amongst the first in Sea, despite SE's bests attempts to stiffle our progress.
You guys fail at servicing PS2'sCan't wait to get ffxi on my 360 and finally be able to throw away my "can't play games anymore cause the reader sucks but still has a HDD on it" PS2.![]()
This happened to me, too. Twice. Both times I fixed it... I'll impart my knowledge? You unscrew all the screws on the bottom, remove the bottom plate, remove the section covering the disc reader / lens [take care because the ribbon is taped to this somewhere, if you just unscrew and pull it will rip, you need to carefully pull it up and remove the tape, and set it aside.] This will expose the lens, take a cutip and wipe it softly on the lens in a circular motion a few times, put everything back together, replace all screws, and works like new. Time to fix: Approximately three minutes.
Another problem commonly seen is that the voltage setting for the lens is set either too high, or too low. The problem with adjusting this (there's a screw to turn it up/down) is that if the PS2 is not working [reading discs incorrectly] there really is no way to tell if the lens is just dirty, the voltage is too HIGH, or the voltage is too LOW. This makes it dangerous to just turn the screw one way or the other because if its set high and you crank it higher, you could burn out $150 worth of electronics...
Suggestion : start by turning it lower. You'll have to turn it [I think quarter turn?] and restart the PS2 everytime to check it... Then again, I find 30 mins of [light] work to be a lot better than shelling out 50 bux to fix a 150 dollar machine... And IMO its much better than just throwing it out.
Anyone else notice the BLUs wearing Homam gear instead of Nashira. BLU = Melee??
