Igqira Weskit offers the same Conserve MP, this piece of moot.
Water Ring, Ring(duh): Conserve MP+15
Drawback of raping 15% of your mp, not to mention being accessible for 1 hour of every 8.
Sorcerer's Sabots, feet: Conserve MP+5
yay
Igqira Huaraches, feet: Conserve MP+4
less conserve MP than AF2..but uh, whens the last time you saw Harajnite ?? Thats what I thought...
Sorry no, Conserve MP gear is not a dime a dozen. You can, at most, wear Conserve MP on two slots, I dont count that subligar, and that ring is not available often enough.
I took the Magnetic Earring.
Why? Because all of the earrings suck unless you're a PLD.

the HMP+1 is like a ghetto boroka earring
I didn't really follow, but from sam tests, +10 store tp = 1% tp more per swing.Originally Posted by Lockecole

Store tp sucks, its highly overrated.
this is exactly how I feel about it.Originally Posted by Janice

You don't count because you're like the only blm I've ever heard of who actually uses -enmity instead of only caring about epeen numbers.Originally Posted by Lordwafik
no, has nothing to do with blm, other than the fact that all Conserve MP gear, other than water ring and the new earring, is exclusive to blm only.Originally Posted by Sefier
I stopped reading there. Every Store TP increase = 1% increase to your TP. It's that simple. Store TP +30? Thats 30% more TP per swing. Rajas Ring gives you 5% extra TP. WAR, THF, NIN all break the 5TP floor and take advantage of that. By adding the ability to get 11TP per set of swings, you break the TP formula even more. I don't get why people dont understand just how amazing that is. You're talking 2 extra TP per a single set of Kraken Club swings potentially. It all adds up, I mean geez its just a single ring, that ontop of that "insignificant stat" gives the best melee stats in the game, both which are useful in ALL areas during every situation as a melee, not to mention being the best ring for soloing or messing around with your PLD/NIN, WHM/NIN, RDM/NIN etc.Originally Posted by Xavier
Tamas Ring is marginally better then Serene Ring (worse for BRD), and only situationally replaces most rings for most mages in most situations.
MP is good for resting to full during an EXP PT, but ask any mage in a fast paced dynamis/limbus or wyrm fight how many times he/she can rest to full...and I doubt you'd count higher then 1. MND and INT will never, ever be useful at the same time, and are just simply there to make macroing less of a pain. -Enmity I guess is the area in which you could defend this ring, and I don't know really how to go about this. I'd reckon its useless for RDM 99% of the time, and more and more tank situations are that you lose hate to DDs and BRDs (in long fights) over smart WHMs. I'd say it's probably most useful for a BLM in the long run...where you're nuking, stunning (in some cases) and generally multi-tasking to the extent you're forced to pull hate.
You're still looking at stats which potentially are going unused with the Tamas in so many situations. Enmity being useless in situations where you'll never pull hate. (Dynamis, Limbus mages wont be pulling hate off of good DDs.) MP being useless in fast paced zones where you're forced to rest for short periods and never achieve your max MP. And MND or INT really only being useful at one point or another.
BLM: INT for nukes, MND practically only for stoneskin. (Macroable)
RDM: MND and INT able to equally macro rings in for corresponding spells.
WHM: MND only useful for Cure V and INT not useful at all. (Please dont mention MND or INT for debuffs.)
Not so much a question which is better, obviously some people seem to think they'll never level another job. But to say one ring (Tamas) benefits its jobs the same or more then another (Rajas) is just crazy. It's literally impossible to say that, because you have multiple stats that are practically situationally useless at almost every instance with Tamas, and you dont have that when it comes to the two rings: Sattva and Rajas.
I doubt anyone is reading this anyway...I could probably just make stuff up. >.>

You're a melee, of course you wont understand how we can benefit from the stats.
For BLM :
+5 INT, that's a snow ring right there, int being our useful stat for nukes.
+5 MND : Good for stoneskin/phalanx without having to buy another ring to stick into that same slot, ohio inventory, it's been a while, i missed you.
+30 MP : Trust me, every bit of MP counts, especially on blm when a big dynamis train comes along, and you dont have a second of time to rest, no aspirable targets, sometimes that +30 MP actually does something. Oh wait, that's right, I guess my MP merit points dont count, i'll take them away too.
-3 Enmity, the stat alot of people like to overlook, the stat that makes ninjas and paladins grab hate right back off you when the mob focuses on you, the stat that doesnt make you a magnet for mobs. I still dont understand why people think this is so useless. All blm have at least one peice of -enm gear, most often it'll be mahatma slops. Here's something fun, next fafnir tell your blms to nuke without -enm gear (even if it means being nude on that slot).
Now for RDM :
INT+5 : Great for blind/grav/bind/nuking
MND+5 : Great for Para/Slow/Silence/Stoneskin/Phalanx/etc
MP+30 : RDM have the worst MP pool of all 4, SMN > BLM > WHM > RDM, we need every bit of MP we can get without having to sacrifice other useful gear (i'd love if I could use zenith crown and AF1 hat for fast cast at once, but newp).
Enmity-3 : This stat not as useful, unless duoing with a monk or nin or something, but I dont recall the last time I pulled hate, only after a DS+convert.
WHM (now im not a whm, so feel free to add if there's something I missed, or correct me if im wrong):
INT+5 : Poop, maybe to help with drain/aspir? /shrug
MND+5 : Help with the whm enfeebles (slow/silence/paralyze), Cure5's limit
-3 enmity : One of the key reasons whm buy blessed/raven for wyrm and other HNM fights. Let the pld be healed without pulling too much hate.
MP+30 : Hot. Just hot.
SMN (same as whm)
INT+5 = poop
MND+5 = poop
-3 enmity = awesome, since alot of smn i know solo with their avatars, the more -enm on the smn, the more the pet tanks
MP+30 = great.
In conclusion : The ring serves it's purpose all at once without having to buy 4 seperate rings, which only 2 are equippable at any given moment (snow, aqua, ether, and serene). All these rings, on all the time, without equip swaps? Tell me how this is shit again?
Now for the Rajas ring which I had an option to get for my BST and upcoming thief :
+5 STR
+5 DEX
+5 Subtle blow
+5 Store TP
For my thief, I dunno, i'd wear if i had a ton of accuracy gear, but i'd rather have snipers in those slots and use this on WS. Store TP ? THF beats everyone to TP anyway. Subtle blow is probably the main reason i'd wear this ring, since I cant buy subtle blow on any other ring.
For my BST, the 5 STR/DEX would be awesome for rampage, subtle blow and store TP wouldnt be as useful, my pet is constantly feeding the mob TP at a constant rate, and I dont use my WS untill the mob has 10-5% HP left in it. No point WS'ing and taking hate midway.
In conclusion : I would gain most benefit from STR/DEX +5 for my personal use, but only during WS, However, the 2 stats that I am concerned about are also purchasable for 2 slots that I can use. So I'll just go buy a flame and thunder ring.

Im 75rdm and 75nin. I picked Rajas ring. Store TP is awesome to get an extra tp every few swings ( i also have brutal ), and Subtle Blow is awesome for nin as well. 2 stats I CANNOT get on any other ring, or pieces unless i use crap Unji + Unsho.
Not really worried about the Enmity for my rdm with a good Nin or Pld. Int or Mnd can get either from Ring swap. 30MP nice... but MP vs Rajas, gogo Rajas all the way. JUST LIKE ANYTHING ELSE IN FFXI, SITUATIONAL, so why make these threads go so many pages on different topics lol.

I took ethereal and I am still happy about it, but yeah I thought it might work with damage from souleater which would have been really cool for DRK or mnk/drk but oh well.
Also since part of the discussion moved to raja's ring, at least for me as monk it's a great item, I often do a ws 1 turn sooner which is a huge difference (from say 98% tp to 101%tp) Store tp is really noticeable especially for monk when you get a lot of random extra small tp increases from double attacks, kick attacks, hits taken, how much % tp you got from last asuran etc. Even just 1-5% often makes a difference of a turn.
Same for subtle blow, especially if i am subbing ninja where mob doesn't get most of his tp from hitting me, often a small difference can mean a mob will pull off a tp move right before i kill it or not get tp in time.
And both DEX and STR are so useful on every hit, criticals are a big part of my damage as monk.
Anyways for the earrings I went with the most unique and fun.
Way to not address every valid point I made. (I don't even get the point of underlining the stat effects for WHM?) I quit.
I took the Etheryal earring because none of the other rings really grabbed my attention, and I liked having an earring with +5 attack +5 evasion for when I solo as mnk/nin or something.
But recently I've begun wearing it when I'm using my BRD in exp parties. Generally I've been pulling, and in Ulegurand range where demons like to smack my ass around while trotting them back to camp, it's like a free extra refresh. I'm loving it so far, and I'm so glad I got that earring.
I have a Rajas and I don't regret it, because I enjoy playing my NIN and MNK more than my WHM. But I didn't wear my Rajas on my MNK until I was 75 with a cuple merits because what the fuck use is STR and Store TP if you can't hit the mob? But Lockecole doesn't like accuracy at all and is a crackhead for sushi, so I can understand where he's coming from, I just don't agree.
Tamas does more for mages than Rajas does for melees.
fun fact: WHM can enfeeble too. Dynamis, limbus, BCNM, and anything that isnt super strong HMS's (and most of those are immune to a lot of enfeebles anyway). So why shouldn't we mention it?WHM: MND only useful for Cure V and INT not useful at all. (Please dont mention MND or INT for debuffs.)
Here, here. Often times in small groups you don't always have the luxury of a RDM there to spam those debuffs. During limbus runs where the WHM is the main debuffer, this thing helps alot.Originally Posted by Janice
Getting to the point of the -enmity. This is probably the single biggest reason I chose this ring over Rajas. I am a Ninja as well as a SMN and a BRD. I went right up to the moment before I chose my Tamas ring. I truely believed I was going to choose Rajas, but chose Tamas moreso for the -enmity than anything else. Even on Bard I use this ring over other options. I walk around on bard with -17enmity and still make take hate ove a long wyrm fight if things aren't going completely as planned. The mp is nice and all the MND/INT doesn't help me much at all. However, when soloing stuff with Multiple Carbuncles in long fights that -enmity is all that keeps me alive. Its not like I didn't have access to a 50mp ring for SMN as I own a Vivian. Its the little things that matter, and -enmity is no where near little.
You can say that StoreTP and Subtle Blow are god, but when it comes down to it. The little extra bit of TP isn't gonna help me. In TP burn merit parties, I can outtp most non monks. Subtle Blow doesn't mean jack 98 times out of 100 in an xp situation, and 1 extra tp every few rounds isn't going to make or break me as ninja. Maybe for others that 2 seconds is going to mean life or death, good for them.
To the original topic. Magnetic all the way. I can see alot to go with for Ethereal, mages that take a lot of damage it helps a lot. The meripo bard puller, the . . . Oh wait we already figured out that the amount of MP you can back from that hit that got you 8mp is gonna cost you like 8 times as much just to heal it back and stoneskin is ftw. Say what you want about the Static. This earring is pure macro bait with Abyssal for BLM's. I mean how much over the course of a normal day do you BLM's actually Magic Burst? This earring makes sense like 5% of your time at most. Hollow, interesting choice... I have a friend who is leveling thief who chose this. I honestly don't know if its worth it over other options. Then again she will never see a Pixie earring so 2 dex is sweet, add the acc/racc and she is a happy camper. I don't know about it for other jobs though. Most DD at 75 are going to be looking at Brutal/Triumph or Brutal/Suppa or Brutal/Bushi. Magnetic however, is an MP earring from the gods. With MP/hMP/ConserveMP all rolled into one, its worth the loss of 2int for most non "epeen" BLM's because their MP is going to allow them to cast more spells. For WHM there really isnt much better save for "maybe" a Heavens+1. For SMN there is NOTHING better. You could argue that for a RDM Static is superb for debuffing and even tossing a MP. However, how can you overlook the conserveMP and Spell Interrupt, making this an awesome choice for solo and nonsolo applications alike.
Forgive me if I went off a bit, but meh.
