Synthesis Glitch

Am I the only one getting this? Sometimes when I synth, it randomly 'fails' about 1 second into the synthesis animation. Sometimes I lose all my ingredients (but the chat log doesn't say this), but most of the time the synth succeeds. I just synthed a kingdom horn, but apparently the synthesis failed.

Is this anything to do with a glitch that I read about where synthes will go all glitchy and randomly HQ loads of times in a row? Something to do with making time on your computer run faster than it should (not the speed of the system clock or processor speed). I don't know.

Happens a bit. Happened yesterday while i made an ocl ring i nearly cried

yup actually i had head this happens quite often but havent had it happen to me until yesterday

was making a Nomads, showed NQ synth, said i had broke and lost crystal, and the NQ was in my inventory.

I did it again while making GP items this mornig. Break animation, break report, HQ product in my inventory

Again, this has never happened to me until yesterday

Again? They had maintenance for this a few months back...

Well, I've had a mess around with this, and it looks like the cause of these breaks is when your PC becomes out of synch with the server during the synthesis. For example, if your PC thinks that the synthesis is finished when the server knows it isn't, then you will get the 'you lost your crystal' message and the ingredients will disappear from your inventory.
It's kind of related to that really old glitch where if you edit your windows clock (in the bottom right of the screen) to make it jump 10 seconds into the future (ie. if it reads 8:10:20, change to 8:10:30), FFXI will randomly run at 20x speed for 10 real seconds. If you synth when it's like this, you always get the same message.

I did something like 65 errant slops on tuesday, happened twice in all the synths (counting subcombines/desynth/resynth, probably 250ish)

It happened to me yesterday on a wing earring: hq animation, log report of smashed crystal no losses, inventory had a drone earring in it.

It happened to me yesterday on a wing earring: hq animation, log report of smashed crystal no losses, inventory had a drone earring in it.

HQ'd 4, i'll take it :D
