Question about signet

I hear from some people that crystals take the place of drops, but I hear from other people that it's just a myth and that signet won't screw up loot pools at all. Does anyone know the real story?

And yes, it's only a myth. Crystal doesnt take the place of any other loot.

Ask Berticus. He made a study on it once. Don't think his whole LS approved of it much.

The ratio of Loot to Crystals is inversely proportional to the importance of said pool. The more important it is the more likely your going to get fucked up the ass and get lots of crystals.

We entertained that idea for a while, simply because what's the harm in trying? Like knocking on wood, wtf is that going to do? Yet people still do it. Then it got to be too much of a pain to have half the alliance drop out before something died. At this point I put it at the top of the silly list with THF kill and facing north when you kill Suzaku for better drops.

I don't think signet's crystal drops replaces other items because there is a couple screenshots of mobs dropping 11 items (fafhogg) and a person automatically getting 1 item, to clear the loot pool for the other 10. (Which still could be a problem having signet, but for another reason)


A lot of people on my server believe that crystals replace other drops tho... (who has signet, that could have been the key in Sacrarium!) They take it too seriously even for dumb things like that.

There have been countless screens of Jormungand dropping 10+ items often, so I doubt signet affect the other drops.

It wouldn't be that big a problem because non-rare, non-ex items will be pushed out of the loot pool before the R and or E ones (if you do dynamis you see this alot when synth materials will auto-lot before anyone can even lot them because coins will drop so fast), so you wouldn't have worry about shit like a Ridill falling on a BRD, it would just be a fire crystal or at worse a Dragon Talon.
