Well, it seems kind of like it takes a lot of the elements used in SimEarth, SimAnt, and SimCity (and probably other Sim games I haven't played) and combines them all into one massive game, so it should be pretty fun since I think he had to skip a lot of gameplay in order to show all the parts of the game. My guess is it'll be as involved a game if not more than The Sims.

Yeah for awhile I thought it was basically a MMO with a fully customizable creature. I was excited thinking you had to like fight for your life as you tried to level up for your egg and get new parts and evolve and shit. Then when he said it turned into an RTS and you have a society I was like.... mmmm that's not so hot.

This game would be so much kewler if it were actually an MMO and you actually advanced your creature and not an entire civilization.

At any rate, where can one get this game? I really want to play it and if it really is "ofn" then it should be out already, no?
you do realize you don't have to go into RTS mode right? XD just keep your creature not so smart and it'll stay in evolution mode.
Not necessarily, I believe you can only advance and lay eggs a certain number of times before you are forced into a civilization type game play.

But look at how open-ended the entire thing is. I dont believe it forces you. I recall him saying you had to upgrade your mind many times before you advanced, or something to that effect.

Yeah, he did say you would evolve when you put enough into your brain. Personally though, the fact that you do get to that step of the game does seem really awesome to me.

And when he was getting shot at by the other civilization then blew up the planet, boy did I laugh.

What would make everyone who has watched this video splooge is if he told you that everything in the game, it's microscopic ecosystem, it's smaller ecosystem, middle ecosystem and higharchy of races, were all player controlled. If this were a true MMO and like you controlled your race and shit that'd be insane. Imagine the PvP possibilities; Alliance, Enemies, Interstellar Traveling, Communicating with other "races", opting to choose not to civilize and just become a king pin in the ecosystem, i.e. Tyrannosaurus Rex. Omg... I cream my jeans just thinking about it

Well he did hint that the other villages and stuff were controlled by other players, so it might actually turn out to be like that if they do make it entirely online.

He didn't say they were controlled as much as generated by other players. What's interesting is that so much of the content is just taking the rules of one created species and pitting it against your own creation. The computer handles the behavior of your rivals based on the parameters set at creation when it downloads it. Kind of like how new furniture and stuff behaved when you downloaded it into your house in Sims.

Which makes this more like a cross between civilization 2 and pokemon. "Six legged giant-headed bird thing with an agressive militaristic expansionist society, I choose you!"

he said it wasn't complete but... maybe they will allow some-what MMO mode where you can choose like.. RTS mode, First Person Creature mode, and other various modes so you can test your civilization against another's or your single creature against another's.. man that would be fun :3

No, it is not MMO style. It takes templates from other players and mimics them on your PC. He mentioned that in the video several times. In other words, the creatures/races/worlds are controled by your computer but are baced on templates created from other players. People can see your world, and destroy it even, and it won't affect your PCs content, or viceversa.

Yea, and im saying thats not possible. The content isn't live, there isn't a way it could be MMO style. The best you could hope for is a peer-to-peer system. My bet is they will intergrate something along the lines later in a expantion.

I'll explain the diffrence between an MMO and what you watched. With an MMO, every mmo on the market atm, all of your movements, items, spells, everything is a pre-made animation that exists on your computer already. Models, skins, ect are all what you already have on your computer. I'm sure you all know this already. But read about that game, its not using any form of pre-generated content. Its using a script to guess how your models would move if it existed in the enviroment that your creature was in.

The ramifications of this is it would make it hard to create streaming content. Its more then "move model a to point c, start model animation file 8". Your PC actualy has to think about how, with your model the creatrue would move. Your computer isn't displaying what its being told to display, its generating the content. Granted, the game has the capabilities to render anything that anyone else could create, but because the content being created is dynamic, creating a working netcode for it would be a huge task. One thing you have to take into consideraton, if netcode is overly bloated it affects the gernration of the realtime environment. Simply put, if you have to send too much info to the other persons computer, you limit how fast the other person will display your actions/movements.

Great example: The muli-player mod for GTA. Even over the local LAN we had setup, with all the physics the game had whenever we had more then 2 people playing, you couldn't even hit eachother with cars it was so lagged out.
