What good did it do to quote yourself? It has no information other than the NM exists...Originally Posted by Sefier

There is nothing here but a handful of musty old manuscripts.
There is nothing out of the ordinary here.
You start to get goosebumps.
Your heart is racing.
Your common sense tells you to leave as quickly as possible.
You feel no evil presence here
Something is lacking.
Nothing happens.
Something seems out of place.
An evil presence fills the room!
You feel as if a burden has been lifted from you.
Does he remember which JPs were fighting it? Has anyone else on Ifrit (or any server for that matter) ever seen someone wearing a Parade Gorget?Originally Posted by Sefier
No. I'm currently trying to track Feon down when he is online and make him spit out some names. When he is on and if I get some, I'll post.
Unless someone else from Ifrit beats me to it.
Through more reasearch, in the .dat files there's an item called "Goblin Drink"
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?fitem=8638
Even *gasp* allakhazam picked it up when doing auto-collection of dat files. I strongly beleive this has something to do with it.
Anyone see goblin drink in cooking recipies? Im lvl0 cooking.
That's an interesting item, but I see no recipe for a Goblin Drink in the cooking guild.Originally Posted by Lordwafik

I don't think so. I scanned 10 JP sites that mentioned it. In call cases they said it was "unreleased food" along with http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?fitem=8632 and a few other things.
A little off-topic, but...
As Hirronimus already posted, you never aggro though sneak (as long as your HP isn't yellow). The tall tale about aggroing mysteriously through sneak is most likely someone who still had drown from dancing chains, used a silent oil, and started walking through groups of fomors. At max fomor hate you'll always aggro fomors even when you have Sneak up, if your HP isn't white.Originally Posted by Heian
And as far as I can tell (9 Belts over 4 runs), divisortheory is 100% correct about Fomor Hate and ability to pop the Swift Belt NM's being distinct.
Anyway, so back on topic... I think we should examine the other NM's added on July 19 '05 for a few more clues, specifically the ones popped by checking or trading items to targets. These include Alastor Antlion & Co., Shen, Mycophile, Hercules Beetle, Chocoboleech, Nihniknoovi, Kurrea, Aroma Mobs, Ziphius, Goblin Collector, Bugbear Matman, Shieldtrap, Unstable Cluster, Swift Belt Fomors, Yara Ma Yha Who, White/Black Coney, and Edacious Opo-Opo. I've only had experience with half of these, but I think we can look at a few ideas and see which hold more water. (har har..)
1. Killing G/Moblins will eventually give you enough Goblin hate to check the Scrawled Writing or trade an item to it to spawn the NM.
Based on the text Demetrios got from the dats, I don't think there are enough different "responses" you get from the writing to make this possible. The Stale Draft for the Swift Belt NM's gave three responses to tell us what our hate level was (Goosegumps, Heart Racing, GTFO ((c) Kuno 2006)), one trade response telling us we were in the wrong room (out of place), one trade response telling us we were in the right room but without enough hate (lacking), one trade response telling us we traded the wrong item (Nothing happens), and one telling us we popped the NM (you are enveloped in... i mean, an evil presence fills the room!). I don't think S-E would be so cruel to add a NM that requires goblin hate without giving us messages telling us we were on the right track... but hey, I might be wrong.
2. You can only trade the Movalpolos Water (or name your other favorite drink) to the ??? on full moon! Or at night! Or both!
Given the name of the NM (that we think should pop here), these are good ideas. The White and Black Coneys are only poppable during Full and New moons (but its ??? doesn't pop otherwise). The Hercules Beetle and Ziphius are poppable by trading items to multiple ???'s at certain times of the day and then checking them later. I haven't fought these latter two; maybe someone can tell us whether it tells us something different when you put honey/fish at the ??? as opposed to something else. Maybe after we trade the right item we have to wait until a certain time of day before checking the target again to pop the NM.
3. We're not trading enough of the items!
Trading one stack at a time pretty much covers all our bases, I think. As far as I know, you can trade a full stack of anything to an NPC/target that can only perform one action with any number equal to or less than the number you traded of that item and it'll take take the right number and perform that action. (I have a funny related story about Dynamis currency but I don't wanna ramble.)
Also, what if the NM takes multiple repeated trades, like Goblin Archaeologist, Yara Ma Yha Who, Edacious Opo-Opo, etc.? Maybe it will only take one item every so often.
Anyway, I hope this helps us find out how to pop it. I don't like leaving pop conditions unresolved. =)
I've had alot of experience with that Yara mother fucker guy. When he takes water it'll tell you something.
As for the trading one stack thing, for Lu Shang rod you can trade 8 stacks of moat carp at once so that blows that out of the water.
I tried trading him water clusters to quench his thirst, nothing. I also smashed them into crystals, tried them 12 at a time, and then 1 at a time, nothing.
Has anyone maybe tried giving him the recipie to make vampire juice? He's thirsty, give him ingreds? >_>
Im still thinking it's the "Goblin Juice"
When was goblin juice added?
For a long time the recipe for "Boiled Tuna Head" was a mystery--wasn't given out by npcs, but definitely existed, known by a very select few--and on a few occasions, the cooking guild GP item has been a food that nobody knows how to make.
Im confident it was added in the same patch, im not sure though.
If a goblin is thirsty, what else would it want to drink if it's rejecting everything?
edit : nvm
I have a semi-cleaned up version of the 2x dat files, new and oldtown, nothing special about them really. Newtown has 1x ???, oldton has 11x ??? though, which is weird, I dont remember seeing that many.
Maybe somehow find a ??? that gives something, then trade it in? Kind of like Uggalepih whistle popping Sacrificial Goblet.
Hm, yep. Forgot about that.Originally Posted by Not Kuno

Then search the page for ゴブリンドリンク
One of the entries appears to be a recipe for Goblin Drink, then another guy appears to be saying he tried to make it at Lv. 60 but it was too difficult. The recipe seems to be a combination of like 7 different types of bloods. Anyone can translate better than me? Doesn't make sense though, because the description of the item says it's made from vegetables, not blood. /shrug
Yea, it says it was too hard for him to make at level 60 and the recipy was:
闇 ウィンダス茶葉 ギサールの野菜×2 爪の入った麻袋 蜂蜜 蟲の卵 蒸留水
Dark Crystal, Windurstian Tea Leaves, Gysahl Greens x2, Fingernail Sack (wtf is that?), honey, Crawler Egg, Distilled water
I don't know where you read anything about blood
Come to think of it, this really sounds like the craftable spawns items that CoP has.
