I prefer Japanese "cartoons", watching anime is 100x more interesting then some random cartoon (bar a few oldies). But I'd rather watch an American/English movie (3D or otherwise). While both sides have good things it's best to mix and match, and more importantly watch whatever you want too.

I'm sure we can all agree both produce a ton of crap, and a few gem here and there :D I'm not sure why people are constantly trying to show one is better than other.

Just trying to say anime is grossly overrated. You can compare the Batman series as far as cartoons go (can't think of any other good animated cartoons). Really I do not watch cartoons or anime much if at all. I was pointing out the fact that Japanese Anime has less frames than most cartoons. People just go gaga over the manga style artwork. Go read a manga anyway.. from what I hear they are 100 times better than the anime usually.

Not really.. I did like Transformers. I was in elementary school back then.... When I watch those cartoons I feel some nostalgia. Mostly I think.. Damn this shit is stupid as hell. Cartoons back then weren't so great either in hindsight.. but they worked fine when I was a child.

It's not true. You should see the number of anime released in Japan that no one will ever hear about because they simply suck. People like certain anime because they are good, not because they go gaga over the artstyle.

About frame rate. I think you need to watch TV more :D Especially cartoon chanel. Not everything have animation like Futurama. There is so many TV show with totally uninteresting character that dont even look human with animation so simple it could have been made by a college student.

I think I will pass. I really rather not watch much TV. I play videogames, smoke weed, play guitar, listen to music, etc. No time to watch bullshit cartoons on TV. Well cartoons are a hell of alot better than the reality TV crap my parents watch. I want to fucking kill MTV for releasing Real World...

Agreed, I love to watch good shows, I don't care where they are from. Although I do think that a good NA cartoon will have more frames then a good anime, most animes really only bump up their frame rate for action scenes or scenes that call for fluid movement (ie water). Most 12-13 episode animes will have good animation, most ~24 episode anime will have decent and consistant animation throughout and anything 24+ will either have a few good episodes, a shit load of decent/below average and quite a few poor ones (oh god, I remember one time in Naruto when they were jumping on the trees, they had a whole good lot of what looked like cardboard cutouts of the characters moving up and down on a fast moving forest background)

I don't think anime is overrated, I think the fanbabies/otakus/JPwannabe spoil it for the people who like anime for what it is - a program meant to entertain you, not start a cult following...

Did anyone watch Justice League (+Unlimited)? Man that's was one of the few shows I would actually sit down to watch. Good story+good animation+good voice acting = win!

That's another thing I like about cartoons, the language and VA isn't so basic (unless you're watching Cbeebies)...

Naruto's story/world has far too much potential for it to simply "end" at like 150 episodes. If you don't like long anime, then don't watch them, simple as that. I don't even get why people complain about length, its not like Naruto has suffered because of the ongoing manga, the quality has been maintained all the way, every week leaving me wanting more and more.

That's a lie, quality differs depending on the episode, the Rock Lee vs Gaara fight was fucking beautiful and a lot of fights have either good quality of animation or bad (uhh, Sakura vs Ino(sp)). The episodes with just talking are filled with backflash after backflash, it wouldn't be so bad if the backflashes were new material, but a lot of it wasn't, and it really made me sick to see something I saw 1-2 episodes ago (and the flashes aren't short either...)

Naruto is amazing, it has great art and a great story, but that's just the manga, the anime is a sad sad thing. I don't mind long anime, but needlessly long anime that's only long due to flashbacks, reused clips and pointless fillers makes me angry.

If you want a good manga, read Berserk, it is the most amazing manga you'll ever read.

Well, I did agree that Naruto as a whole is good (just the bad parts stick out to me now), I did enjoy the Anime for quite a while, like 70+ episodes, then I got tired and cause the story was getting interesting I decided to read the manga, after seeing how amazing it was I could never watch another episode without being bored, the suspense is tight in Naruto, but it feels drawn out in the anime...

I will watch the anime again when they start the second season, shit is heating up now...

I also want more Berserk, my GOD, the art is amazing, I could orgasm just looking at it, each page is so beautiful I want to make love to it I wish I could draw that well...

And speaking of Mai-Hime I'm downloading it right now lol, I wanna see if the anime is any good (manga was great)...

I think Mai Hime ranks as my favourite 26 ep anime ever. Much better than Mai Otome, which I'm also enjoying currently.

Oh and check out Fate/Stay Night if you havent already. Another good series (9 eps so far).

long story isn't a bad thing if the story continues to bring fresh new things. However... Naruto is getting somewhat predictable. I can see it going on for quite sometime more with the Manga and if the anime follows as it has been it'll be insanely long with a lot of crap episodes in between the actual good story. *shrugs*
