how about passing judgement on the movie before you go see it.

while it may have a lot of gore and graphic situations, it actually shows 1 characters progression from being an uptight tech jockie pussy, to a father who will stand do anything to protect his child.

you cant blame hollywood for the progression of violent content in society. why? because hollywood only makes things they percieve we want to see. if american society didnt want to see movies of this nature, guess what? they would do horrible at the box office, lose money and then the companies would re-evaluate their current market demographic.

so if you dont like horror movies because of whatever reason, (usually its some lame religous manafestation), then dont provide patronage to that movie and go see something else. seriously, it was a thread telling you i saw this movie. i said i liked it, you all know its a horror movie so the choice is on you to watch it. i dont care about your moral idealism, i was just reassuring you this movie was good in my opinion.

    EDIT:
by saying horror movies promote societal violence is absurd. humans are just as violent today as they were 500 years ago. the only thing that a movie of this nature does, is play on our fears. horror movies dont bring out the secret lust in us, they use the most basic premise of "this could happen to you" to give you an artifical sense of unease and fright.

Dude, violence in the mainstream isn't going to be the downfall of our society. Historically speaking, the only reason any civilization ever failed has been due to religion or disease.

Also, now that you've thrown out "Your a bitch," I've lost the interest to argue with you. Your spelling and grammar sucks. I don't mind having an intellectual debate on such a topic, but really, I can't take anything you say seriously anymore.

Oh come on. You know every zombie movie has that one girl that never shuts up. As soon as a zombie rips apart her neck, you get a feeling of satisfaction knowing that chick got pwned.

This is a public message board, I expressed my opinion, you didnt have to read it. I read your opinion and came up with my own and posted it, I never said don't see the movie. People who have their minds set in these things are going to do them regardless of what I say so get off your high horse.

Second, the images you watch were not being broadcasted 500 years ago so your comparison is total BS. People didnt own TVs, the amount of external information was much less than it is now with the advent of the internet, movies... How can you compare 2 totally diffent time periods and assume that they are equally violent although there is no numbers or actual evidence you present. Im not denying it was violent long ago, but do you think it was equal? Its impossible to judge, a poor anology that you weigh alot of your opinion on.

All that matters is now, the present. People falling into holes full of syringes just seems like an unusually graphic thing to watch. At the point where "horror" passes into disturbing, completely pointless to watch other than to make you sick. After you watch it 3 times you could care less and now the only thing "entertaining" is something more graphic. That to me, is pathetic.

There are buddhist priests in thailand who study pictues of dead bodies, mangles corpses for clarity, to help them understand that life is fragile and can end at any moment. Those types of images have an idea attached to it, as opposed to what everyone in the rest of the world is doing. Watching people die extremely violent deaths just to watch them die is like might as well just watch the faces of death videos.

ya, because watching it on TV and having it happen in front of your eyes on a daily basis isnt a good comparison. if anything we see less on the avg day than someone of years past.

face it people were hung, put in the stocks, crucified in public forum... with children present to watch. your wife was taken from your home so that the king of the land could have sex with her before you on your honeymoon. slaves being beaten and killed in plain sight while working on major community tasks was around too. dead bodies being piled onto carts to be carried away because they died from a plague.

90% of the "violence" shown is censored but we get the jist of it. so if anything, things were more violent back in the day. sure they didnt have a television pumping it 24/7 access, but i think its much worse when you have to actually see it and live it first hand than being able to have the choice to turn the channel.

the only reason i said something about passing a critique about a movie you never saw is you lose out on seeing if there was an actual meaning. all you seem to see is gore, when theres a latent story which shows the extent a man will go to protect his child... the gore and death just reinforces it. your opinion is fine, i just asked you at the very least read a summary of the movie first.

There is a HUGE difference in the way someone views a movie when they KNOW that it is fiction as opposed to them KNOWING its real. I can watch some disturbing shit such as "saw 2" because i KNOW its fake, but i cannot endure watching the images on ehowa.com of the hussien regime massacering its own citizens...and those videos arent even close to as gory as the fiction i watch on CBS. The mind has this perception, and can easily distinguish between fiction and reality. Those who cannot, are the ones who shoot up schools, and murder innocent people for no reason. They have issues far beyond being influenced by a movie. When will people realize its not the movies/games that kill people. Im sick of people trying to justify actions such as these by blaming the entertainment world. Well, reality check, 99.99999999% of the population play games, and watch gory rated R movies, and live prosperous normal lives. All this coming from a god damned republican conservative.

This movie didn't cause Charles Cullen to murder 20+ people while he worked as a Nurse in hospitals.

    Don't be stupid.
