AV is up on Odin.. apparently out of MP & stopped 2hr-in

Once again, why would the blms have any reason to panic taking AV down from 100-51 if AV was not using any 2hours or magic?

Demo, dude. What don't you understand? Maybe I haven't made myself a little clear but I'm pretty sure I answered you. The WYNAVS from AV cannot be simply easily easily by 3-4 aga spells man. You need a bunch of agas to set off killing each and everyone of them. Btw, we got exp chain to 5 on wynavs. It wasn't because we panicked, we wanted to kill him. In a screeshot that my linkshell member posted on our forums (maybe this one too, not sure?) at 55% he still used his 2hr so, CLEARLY, he still used a 2hr.

From what it sounds like you guys were just trying to slain the Wynavs asap (logical since they rape) but maybe you can steal something from them? Hell something as dumb as; (and please this is just a wandering mind)

It did once at that /sigh 52% , at 85% 88%, at 87%, 97%, 98%, 72% (/sigh our 2nd lowest from the first one.. that I saw while being in the alliance before using all of my MP.) It was random percentages that it did benediction. I'm starting to hate even my own 75 whm -_-;.

How much did each bene restore for each percentage, if you recall ?? Would proove or disproove the "its max HP goes down" theory.

Both those examples are horribly wrong, because the HNM still has a way to path to you. Should a BLM draw hate, a kited mob will run to the blms and start hitting them.

It's not like AV went over the wall eventually or anything.

Just curious but did you have a samurai in alliance at that time? (if you can remember that point out of the 30 hour marathon at all, that is)

No, we didn't. 17 BLMs & 1 BST, lvl4? Maybe a bard or two but that's about it.

@ Nynja, sometimes 17.somethingk HP, sometimes 20k, sometimes 30k.. it was totally random at different percentages though. It didn't make sense when it covered a certain amount of hp during those %ages because it really seemed like instead of an assume 100k hp, his form made it seem like he was well over 100k HP from his first benediction at 51/52% ;[

He benedicted at 51/52% and recovered 46k, that puts his total hp at 90k. This means 1% = 900hp.

However, some people say that at the beginning, 6 blms simultaneously aga3 dealing 3k+ damage doesn't bump him below 99%, or maybe barely brings him to 98% for a fraction of a second.

This does not make sense. 3k dmg should bring him down to at least 97%.

What I'm asking is for a few more data points on when he benedictioned, and what % he was at when he did it, and how much HP he recovered. This will tell us whether he has a stable max HP or whether his max HP varies and how it varied over the 30 hour fight.

Well at certain points in the fight he would actually glitch and go into the wall a bit, like nearly halfway through. He wasn't in melee range or aeroga range to the blms but sometimes he got close enough to be in meteor range on the BLMs.

I'm not really sure what Demo is advocating it did, but the only 2 hours that would have been used during the second form would be manafont or soul voice. White Mages were never in the alliance for second form because we wanted as much damage in as possible.

We did not get to try to steal from AV or his wynavs, and i'm told now that the flat blade stun on AV with justice sword never got to happen a second time and the first one actually missed, so that theory could still hold up that you can stun him with virtue weapons, however, one of our monks tired to shoulder tackle him and it had no effect yet he had no banghkahs on.

We've spent most of today reflecting on the fight and things we can do better next time along with compiling a bunch of theories to try including some already having been mentioned here including stealing and killing surrounding aerns to weaken him. I dont think we experimented with him as much as we would have liked to do, but we were fairly exhausted at the time and many of these ideas seem like a faint hope of working.

In regards to the exploit thing, sure call it an exploit, but I guarantee you, absolutely noone would have lived through that second form for more than 10 minutes if AV and his wynavs were free to run around and attack people, not to mention the fact meteor would hit everyone and he could still do his aerogas. If we didn't find this exploit noone would know this second form exists or the behaviors that he goes through at the 60% mark. If this exploit is nerfed it's gonna take a hell of a lot more planning to be able to deal with him. Keep in mind the first group of 3 wynavs weren't familiared and they could be killed with probably 4-5 tier IV nukes. The 2nd form's wyverns were always familared as they came out and took around 15-20 -gas to take out.

We actually theorized while fighting him that the wynavs played some role in what 2 hours he could do as I mentioned in my summary, but this proved to be false. I woke up today really pissed off at having nothing to show for our efforts, but by the end of today I'm really fired up to try again with some of the ideas we've come up with to try next time. I do hope we try again in the near future, but I wouldn't blame masago for wishing to wait, because as we all know JoL sets take a good amount of time to put together and getting no AV drops from them is a hard thing to waste.

If you want to get tehnical, it was 46.6k hp, rounding it closer to 47k. Factor it in that it was 51-52%, and you're definately closer to 95k hp instead of 90k hp.

You're right I was dividing by .52 instead of dividing by .48, oops. Still, 950 hp per %, 3000 dmg is still over 3%. A single 3000 volley should drop him to 96.8%~

Great job LB! I ended up skiping a class cause this thread was such a good read. ^^;


One suggestion for killing him, which I believe would work:

1) After getting him down to 51% using LB strat, have the entire main alliance comprised of people with single target high dmg abilities (e.g. spirits, cactuar amigo).

2) Have all with AOE high dmg abilities abilities (ga3, astral flow etc) to form parties of 4-6 or so, and have each party pull a mob with high HP(probably a yovra) directly next to AV, then sleep it.

3) Call a time. Have all melee use their WS at once at that time, and have all the outside parties GA their designated mob. The aoe affect will hit AV.

So, at 51% he would have approximatly 45k HP. Say everyone in the main alliance did 600 dmg x 18 = 11k ish. Say the outside parties consisted of 20 BLM using elemental and 5 SMN using astral flow. That should do about another 20k dmg.

So using this strategy, you could maybe get him to 15%. The main problem i see however, is that the yovras might die before the blm/smn get to fire off all their stuff. To compensate for this you'd need other parties kiting around other mobs CFH'd on, to drag right next to AV after the inital wavea of mobs die.
