Hey this is Xmode from LB, i'm going to write some stuff i noticed in our fight and things i've read, plus ideas.

first, when fighting AV, the first fight, before it was accidently CFH - WE SOMEHOW GOT IT TO STOP CASTING SPELLS. Now everyone who was watching said this was a glitch, and the fact that we were never able to do it again seemed maybe it was true.

After fighting it a 2nd time when it was unCFH'ed, we somehow got it to stop using 2hrs, and it completely stopped casting wynavs.

Around 60%, he came out with his bracelets and got much stronger. using 3 consecutive 2hrs at a time in similar sets, altho there werent any patterns to it.

Invincible > Benediction > Mijin Gakure
Comet > Comet > Meteor
Blood Weapon > Hundred Fist

those were just a few combos that i've noticed.
Now as far as AV, i dunno if any of you guys read greek mythology, but in Cantos XXII - XXIV, it talks about the virtues and sins, and how does one obtain "absolute virtue." And he described it as having to obtain the virtues (which we already did) while at the same time, you have to be cleanse of sins. Now what i think is that we did something during the battle that triggered it from stop using its abilities.

Here's what the mythology says:

Invidious - (kindda like envy) To be cleanse of this, one must have their eyes sewn shut. (sounds kindda like the spell Blind, maybe someone casted Blind during our hours of fighting that triggered this)

Indulgence - (kindda like pride?) To be cleanse of this, one must be punished by having to carry weights on one's back (sounds a lot like Gravity if you ask me, maybe someone casted gravity at a certain time to trigger it)

Infatuation - (kindda like lust) To be cleanse of this, one must be burned in an immense wall of flame (Maybe someone casted Burn on AV to trigger this? or FIRE possibly)

(others included being poison, and some other things, too lazy to list them now)

Well yeah to shorten things up, maybe somehow during our long hours of holding, we triggered many of these to stop it from using its moves. This is my best guess anyways in explaining why it stopped using spells (aparently always still had MP cuz we aspir it for hours) and 2hrs.

This is also a very good reasoning. Just because SE hasn't done it before doesn't omit them from doing it now. Their customer service blows, but it's possible they might've gotten a clue for once <_>

On another AV run, people should bring Blind pots and such, maybe being afflicited by the status yourself is part of it as well.

i remember seeing the text "jailor of love uses astral flow" in screenshots from old fights, but when we fought it last weekened, it still used 2hr animation, but I didnt see it say it was using AF anywhere

About the blind pots, i didnt actually mean cleanse YOURSELF of sins. AV is the "absolute virtue" so for him to be that, he needs to be cleanse of his sins. i guess...... i know it probably sounds like a very long shot, but for sure we did something to stop it from using spells and abilities, so i'm must making assumptions.

....but you can't stop and ignore that of the 32 hours they held AV, the closest they got him to death was via the exploit, and this was only 30mins of that 32hour period. To say they did more with the wall trick in 30mins then they did the other 31 1/2 hours combined doesn't constitute this added some unreal advantage to the fight, is crazy....

It was 28 hours. People round it off to 30. Stop adding to it.

While I agree it's an exploit, I will also agree that it is damn well justified. The mob is broken, the game is broken, what harm is done in putting those two together? At the least it might actually bitchslap SE into fixing it, same as how they finally fixed JLo after it was beat with manaburnga V.

oscar scarf affects the mob i believe with gravity, blind, poison and the rest of the annoying shit that malboro's give you, but it works on the mob instead of you.

y0, first off, i wanna thank everyone who cheered us on and has been supportive, too.

secondly, i agree with auron: just let the exploit issue rest - everyone knows it wasnt the way it was suppose to be fought.

thirdly, as stated already, every advice of how to inflict more damage and whatnot is useless - it all boils down to benediction, and benediction only.
either we find a way to disable it or its pointless to try SCs, MBs, CBs etc. etc.

thats where the discussion starts that we all should be having or rather get back to: what hasnt been tested yet and what sounds reasonable?

xmode mentioned the mythology thing earlier in ls but that it was a long shot but we all agreed that its definitly worth looking into.
also, when he mentioned the sin that needs to be cleansed by "burning" - coincidentally i tried using burn at the end of our AV fight when i was going through random spells just to see what happens - and burn actually stuck.
now its possible that the spells dont have to land but simply have to hit in a specific order - chrono cross anyone?
far fetched, but worth a shot, because its quite possible that ppl somehow did all the necessary spells on him without noticing it before he changed.

also, while we were discussing theories in the LS, we kept thinking about what we MIGHT have done to trigger the first form to stop casting spells/using 2h i remembered that somebody agroed a UFO and we killed it shortly before the change - then i tried to think of more reasonable hints that would point at UFOs playing a part in all of it.
#1 AV is popped by JOL, a UFO - so that kinda hints at a possible connection
#2 UFOs are the only NMs in al-taieu aside from the jailers

there are several theories that have yet to be tested - and no, we didnt get to test steal on AV/wynavs, when we were going to let it despawn, we wanted to let some thfs test steal - but none were responsive.

The only problem with the idea about blind, gravity, poison, etc. on AV disabling certain moves is that... what RDM *won't* be casting all that shit already?

While it sounds nice, and matches with the mythology excerpts, I'm fairly sure someone would have done all the debuffs to AV out of habit. Hell, its how I would start out any NM fight.

Unless, of course, you had RDMs in to start and they debuffed, but later took out RDMs and made the entire alliance 3 PT of 5 BLM + BRD and just ignored keeping debuffs up or something.
