    Nub question ; ;

Alright, ive been lvln CC again, and in the past ive always done the fletches synths, and thats a 10 lvl gap btwn each.

What is the biggest lvl diffrence you can synth? Some say 10, and ive heard a few say 15. 15 would be good.

Right now im 53 and have materials for 100 synths of the Hunters Cloth (lvl 63) And blk choco feather synth is lvl 72.

If 15 is the biggest lvl gap, I plan to skill on Hunters till lvl 57. So that means I only have to get 4 lvls from 100 synths, which may be very close. And then do blk choco to 72.

Anyway.. I just wanted some verification of the max lvl diffrence one can synth with.

    Thanks

15 levels is the biggest gap you can do and still perform the synth, but . . . if you are not within 5 levels of the synth and you fail you will not get a skillup. As such, being 15 levels below a cap, you will almost always fail the synth, and will never receive skillups.

10 levels the biggest gap that I ever did, and it was painful, shit breaks a ton even with support. Personally, I aim for 5 levels gap just so that I can get skillups even if I fail, but thats not always an option.

Someone in my LS told me that when I was skilling up on venom pots in Alchemy, and I'm pretty sure I failed the synth when I was at 62 and received a skill up. (Venom pots cap at 68). I might be wrong though, but I remember saying something like "I'm more than 5 under and I got a skill up."

Don't stretch skill ups more than a 10 level gap. The breaks there are still horrid, and being any more would be a nightmare.

Hmm didnt know that if you wernt within 5 and failed it would yeild no skill. Guess I never paid attention to it.

BUT, you can do 15 right? and IF the synth is successful, I can get skill?

What I usually did on lower lvls is use support and I think it took about 50 stacks to cap. CC is pretty cheap to lvl to 72ish. Materials to make any fletch is only about 2~5k per stack.

15 does sound like a big gap, hopefully having +1 glasses +support, will help though. I might as well try when I get there.

You'll fail 90-95% of synths at a 15 lvl gap even with the gear and support and the day all working for you.

Out of curiosity, post how many of those 100 synths you get through before you quit, and go with a more reasonable synth. I need a good laugh.

    Reasonable synth = ?

I dunno about you, but this synth is extremlly cheap. I made 25 stacks of Cotton Thread from desynthing 50k worth of items. And 100k for Caparace Powder needed.

The only other less effort synth is Silk Cloth -> Green Ribbon. And theres no way im wasting $ or time farimg all that silk.

And the skill range is only 9 lvls, I usually do 10.

Hmm, that doesn't seem correct to me. Unfortunately I'm not actively lvling any crafts so no chance at proving it wrong >.>

Sorry, that's absolutely correct. If you're 6 or more levels from cap, and you break the synth, you will never get a skillup.

15 is a really big gap :\ I tried skilling up with a 13 level gap (66 Smithing -> 79 Cap K. Arrowheads) and after breaking 3 stacks of synths for .1, I switched to the far more expensive Darksteel Synths's to get to 69 before I could comfortably skill up on the arrowheads.

At 53, I'd do the Green Ribbons for a few levels. It is more expensive, but you can attempt to desynth them for another chance at skill up and a few threads to recycle.

i suggest making green ribbons then get a high lvl cloth crafter to desynth them for you...

they have a good HQ rate...i cant remember well but i think it saved alot of money
