I'm not looking forward to the Nintendo revolutions cause I don't think the controller with work well. We can only hope that this generation of gaming is as intense as I hope it would be, I'm not a graphic whore, I'm an engine whore =\ (and story/gameplay, but that's obvious for me).

I hate the controller too, however I think revolution might be a good still, due to the classic games, and also due to THIS :

By the looks of it, seeing how it's backwards compatible, the NES games will be using the SNES controllers, or possibly even cube controllers.

Im happy though, my cube games wont technically be retired, that's one reason I dont keep my snes out, there's no room for it left anymore in my cabinet area. So this way I can still play all the goodness.

Now here's to hoping that the backwards compatible technology is 100% supportive. I remember PS2 doesnt play all PS1 games properly, but then again, when it comes to being backwards compatible, when has nintendo failed in that department


I dont like moving around when playing a videogame, i prefer to move a control stick than move around and smack a child in the face by accident. But I guess im gonna have to make do

The controller isn't a big deal. It'll be innovative for games, but theres easy ways around it.

Which is just plugging it into a gamecube shell. But I can imagine other shells coming out for a mock N64 controller etc too.

Then theres always just the possiblity of them releasing adapters that use any old controller and let you plug them into the controller port on the top.

I am a huge Nintendo fan, Legend of Zelda series espcially. Huge fan. I would have a Gamecube but I am really strapped for cash [yes that bad] but I can't wait to play TP and WW.

PS3 will have its fanbase and fanboys, they are taking a risk on the BlueRay Technology. The only problem they may have with it is a marketing problem. The news about the HDD on the PS3 is new to me though, I don't even want to speculate about that, god knows I was wrong about the PS2 HDD. Certain PS3 titles I am looking forward to like MGS4 "Guns of the Patriots" but who knows what will happen.

Nintendo's Revolution is a system I am defeintly intrested in and hoping to buy shortly after release. With a built in Emulator combined with the Mario, Legend of Zelda, and several other series, I am probably the most excited about this.

Oh and I have looked all over for a copy of Xenogears for PS1, could not find it anywhere.

Its really rare now. I treat mine similar to a bible, keep it put away to prevent anything from happening to it, and try and play through it once in a while.

I have literaly looked for that game for years, I never went onto Ebay, never had a PayPal Account. I did check every gamestore, used game store, ect... nothing. /sadpandaface

The original Suikoden is also impossible to find. I've only played it once, rented it, beat it over a weekend. Bought the 2nd game. But Suikoden 1 +2 are being ported to the PSP so redemption is around the corner.

Even back on the PS1, when games started to actually look good, a game like Xenogears, which was pixeleted (read: not ugly, just looked unpolished in some places) to hell compared to FF7/FF8 remains my favorite Square game, because it had THE best story/characters and music I've ever seen in a game.

Xenosaga on the other hand is one of the best example of what happen when you have to invest too much in the graphic. Story is on par with Xenogear, but feel way too short and rushed at time because it's impossible for a company to make something like they did with XG using new generation graphics.
It's still my favorite series, but it could have been so much better on PSX

Agreed on Xenosaga, felt rushed. I still have Xenosaga II sitting next to my ps2 unopened.

The story is pretty good when you give it a chance, especially with all connection it has with Xenogears. My only concerns with it were the gameplay and length I can live with it since story is the only thing I care about, and XS gave me more than enough, but it's sad when you think about what it could have been if it was one giant rpg behemot like XG.


In any case, XS3 look awesome. If you have lost interest in the series and don't mind a few spoilers, it worth downloading.

Xenogears greatest game of all time though. It'd be nice if they fixed the second disc up though. Going from awesome gameplay to virtually no gameplay blew.

Zelda is all about gameplay. Most of the Zelda games can be seen as revolutionary in one way or another. But it's all about the dungeons and secrets and finding out what to do next and how to do it. Zelda games are simply in a class of their own and have high quality gameplay, that's why everyone loves them.

Everyone on this forum seems to pray to Xenogears, everytime I start playing it I never finish for one reason or another, I guess I really need to put it on my must play list since all I play now are old games anyway. I've owned it since it was released, just never got around to finishing it.

That was due to budget issues, although it was a nice break they should've done it more on the first disc to keep it consistant (and ultimately, make it so you can do more free exploring on disc2).

One of my favourite things in disc 2 is taking Emmeralda to the light house, so fucking cool...

I agree with the Zelda thing, before OoT I never found it interesting, and after OoT I never found it fun. Thing about Zelda games is the story is so uninteresting and predictable now all I can go on is game play, and I absolutely HATE silent protagonists (Chrono Trigger/Cross would've been hot with no silent protanonist).

As for the Revolution control schemes, I seriously do not see those working, the Zelda sword/shield needs a much longer cable, and probably a big TV so you don't have to stand close and end up smashing shit in the room.

The controller looks gay, the handles look way to close to the main bar, if it fits in upside down (so the long part are facing away from you) then it'll work nicely and the gun looks like it will REALLY hurt the thumb, effectively you'd only have 2 triggers on the gun, the main trigger and the bar trigger, the buttons on the top are made redundant in any fast paced game/situation.

I seriously hope those aren't anywhere CLOSE to the finals, cause if they are, failure.

If Sony doesn't make bluray/PS3 cheap, then failure too (N64 games were expensive, that always put me off).

If Microsoft doesn't design a game worth playing other then Halo 3 then failure, likewise if Bungie fucks up Halo 3, ultimate failure.

As for rare games, I'm lucky I found Xenogears in a games shop in london for £5 (OMG) and I got that months before I could even play it, Star Ocean 2 is rare as fuck now, same with Suikoden (but being ported, YES) as is Disgaea (PS2) and Valkyrie Profile (being remade though too hopefully).

I really wanna play Xenosaga, but I heard there weren't that many tie-ins with Xenogears, ehh, is it still worth playing? I was planning on getting it when I got my NA PS2 for KH2 lol
