Merc. Kris questions

I don't have a merc kris myself, though I was working on getting one for playing around with. Unfortunatally, getting the time to work on the quest isn't working out.
Any arguements against it based on HNMs are moot, since any thief who knows what they are doing wont be /nin against HNMs (whm war sam mnk rng, take your pick, all way better subs).
I also dont personally think a thf should sub nin in an SC pt either, but if they are, that likely means slower kills; which means mob TP and consistancy with partner are more important.
As for WS spam PTs I guess it depends on the Thf. I have full triple merits, af2 feet and homam for tp gain. No brutal, its not worth the money imo (was about 22M worth of coins before, not sure what the going price is lately). The times that I have pted with M.kris thfs, my TP gain was just as fast as theirs, since I offhand higher damage dagger this means I was doing more DOT. I have to say, I dont make a habbit of checking other people, so I can't say for sure what their gear was in comparison.
While it is true that you cant triple on the same turn as a multi-hit weapon fires, having full merits+equips raises your chance that you will triple were the weapon not to go off. In this case I would not be surprised to see nearly non-stop triple or double swings off M.kris.
In my average WS spam pt I parse around 1950 damage per fight or so, where WSs average about 1400. So, if m.kris can give a full merit thf 100+ TP in sub-30 seconds (which I would expect it can easily), that could in theory take a thf's damage up to 3k/fight. That would obviously never happen unless the other melee are entirely worthless though, so I supppose it is a case of deminishing returns >< but its too early and I'm not nearly willing to try to figure out the math based on my parses =P

Yeah, there pretty much is never a round of fighting where I hit less than 3-4 times, seeing 2 hits (1 from each hand) has become extremely rare. Also, the favorable ws, and geta 6 hit attack round so you're at 45% tp already has become much more common. It's a great weapon. If I had to give out numbers, i'd say if you add up sa damage and TA damage seperately, itll add up to your ws damage on average. So if you're pushing tp out like that it's great. The one thing I dislike about doing sa and ta seperately is the delay between using sa or ta, and your attack round (sometimes have to wait like 5 seconds and it's torture)

Hah i doubt you could even come as close as I did. Go pt with the best equiped/set up war (well moochi maybe beats him slightly on gear) on your server then come back to me. With a bard war dmg will never be outdone.
He doesnt use axe there, uses joyeuse/ridill (since joy is piercing dmg) and can constantly hit birds for over 100 damage. So before you try to critisize go pt with an uber war, not some average one.

Also werent you the ones saying you could outparse people by far on deco weapons then got your ass handed to you in comparison? Im not talking about some gimp war you pick randomly. Pretty much the only 4 wars I pt with are extremely well geared.

If by "ass handed to you" you mean a war with more merits and essentially done his gear beat me by a good bit then yeah. I was closer to the monk than the monk was to the war, but man my ass totally got handed to me, considering the mnk was top on gear/merits as well and monk is also a super DD... (and I beat the nin)

Joyeuse is piercing dmg but it's still a Slashing weapon for WS's. With just a piercing bonus I would be up there with a good war, with them at -35% dmg there really should be no way they're higher than me.

And I can beat average war's and mnk's, and with the dmg bonus/penalties on birds honestly there should be no reason to get beat. +25% for thf and -35% for war is such a huge difference. If I do get into a party with a war I'd prefer to do U.Range and Sky anyway, I'd rather go against them in an open contest, despite me not being near-complete my gear yet, more fun trying.

As for the topic at hand: I'll eventually get an M.Kris but I won't be paying much for it, I like my Blau/Sirocco so I'm just going to stick with that. Thf has poor dmg vs mob given to tp already, M.Kris just makes that so much worse.

The THF Koyangi is talking about is in my linkshell, and from what I've seen/parsed in XP and Fafhoggs I really like the kris if you gear yourself right. The one place where it falls too far short is in Xarc, where it just hits for 0 so much that it's not worth using (hell same thing happens to pimp wars)

It really isnt such a huge difference because minuet closes the gap. Had it not been with a bard it might have been a different story, regardless, he's a top geared warrior with full war merits(8 sword in sword), haste gear set up for tp, ws gear for ws obviously. Fact of the matter is a thief can't keep up with a top geared warrior no matter where. Other thieves have pt'd with them and they all told me they did way less dps than me. So even with minuet when my main hand is hitting for 30-40ish, hes hitting for 70-100. I might outweaponskill him, but I can't out damage him on normal hits, and use sirocco kukri on birds? Bye wind damage.

Go find yourself the top war on your server, make sure they have ridill and the best gear, and you wont stand a chance on them anywhere.
And by the way, thieves get a piercing modification on demons, they lose damage. Molechs and ahriman are squishy however.

THF's are very strong DD's, even on (zomg) HNM's. If your LS just uses them as TH whores that's up to you, they can do alot more.
