Micken said that. Even though NC at times had its jerks, Lei never was a jerk to me at least.Originally Posted by Mifaco
And Ceph, the story you said is what I had heard. I just hadnt heard they came back. I partied with the new and improved micken the other day in Sea xp, and he didnt even say one word to me.. I would have assumed if it was Micken he would not have xp'd with me at all.
Im guessing what he meant was he saw screenshots a year ago of Lei in full kaiser gear. Lei's been around alot longer than I have, I know that is for sure.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX
First off, those two sentences aren't necessarily related. So my knowledge of his existance and seening the screen shots of him maybe in a diffrent time frame.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX
Second, explain to me what you mean by sad? I found SS's of him over a year ago? Is your point that you knew about him before I did? If thats what your getting at you have some strage e-penis fetish. Needless to say both of us have been around long before that point. A year, when the game has only been out in America for a little over 2 years is a good chunk of time. I don't know if you ment to sound like an ass, but thats how it came off to me.
This guy has more fully upgraded relics than sylph does total
(only known of samurai here XD)
edit: Many people just have the coins so far, just no rare/ex.
I am on midgard... Time to hunt him down. xD
This seems like first real post I've heard about the relic shield, most of it is hyped up stuff that we kinda saw around excalibur when Bikk first got it.Originally Posted by mdn
Really, if someone got the shield and saw it sucked or was about the same as earth staff (and used LS resources) they're going to exaggerate its power... kinda shitty to wake up and realize you just wasted a billion gil.
Can anyone speak about the real proc rate of Aegis & damage reduction of Aegis? Yeah I hear a lot of "it's godly" from ppl who've seen the Iron SS's, but I've also seen Shadow ring go off three times in a row and we all know that isn't indicative of its true potency.
A galka PLD on unicorn have it, i saw him tank Aspid fafnir and tiamat with it. On aspid the block rate was sick, his HP didnt go below 80% the whole time (mind you hes a galka with full koenig and D.ring). He was solo tanking aspid and was blocking ALOT more often than any other HNMs iv seen him tank.
On fafnir hes block rate was lower. Still he was blocking alot of fafnirs attacks, but defenitly at a lower rate. On tiamat his block rate was way down, i would say he blocks like 3/10 out of tiamats swings. This shield isnt overated, the -25% magic dmg alone is worthy the upgrade and i beleive -25% is what the -magic dmg caps at.

Magic damage caps at -50% just like physical damage.
Tiamat is a level 95 HNM, Fafnir is a level 88-90 HNM, and Aspidechelone is a 85-88 HNM. That can explain the difference in block rate, however the bigger question is does monster level affect the block rate for any type of shield? The only parsed evidence I've seen was from Nevi who gave proc rates for all four types on IT+ Aerns. He didn't post any information on the proc rates for different types of monsters.
If it blocked around 30% of the time and negated 70% of the damage taken, it'd slightly superior to Earth Staff.
He gets hit 10 times for a base of 200 damage with neither a shield or staff on (2000 damage.) He gets hit for 160 damage 10 times with an Earth Staff on (1600 damage.) He gets hit for 200 damage 7 times, and hit for 40 damage 3 times with Aegis on (1580 damage.)
Speaking from experience I've never noticed any kind of big increase/decrease in block rate from xp mobs in comparison to things like Fafnir while using my Kaiser Shield. No matter the mob level the block rate is about the same for me.
Edit : Well, kind of. I don't use the same gear for xp as I do for tanking HNMs obviously, so there are alot of variables not being factored in. Straight tanked HNMs I'm gonna be throwing on some Shield skill+ gear but in xp I never use that kind of stuff.
Thats funny, haste also caps at 50% as well.Originally Posted by Demetrios
I'm assuming that all of them have capped and merit'd Shield Skill. With tweeking a couple accessory slots you can get over 310 Shield Skill (With Merits). I may be wrong, I don't have exact numbers on this.
I would guess that should give a suffcient proc. rate on Aegis, but I know there are other factors as well.

fully capped and merited shield skill with all shield skill + gear will be around 330-335
That seems pretty high, I'll look into it tonight.Originally Posted by Surealistic
Of course it does, I block lvl 60 mobs ALOT when soloing yet when I fight 74-80 mobs solo it doesn't go off nearly that much.Originally Posted by Demetrios
I think maybe the checks are:
1. Shield Size (aegis is supposed to be size 1)
2. Skill level (given the skill level, shall I allow it the chance to random to block?)
3. /random (the chance to block)
I think there are so many evidence that tells us how Aegis is so powerfull relic weapon, take IRON ss for instance @ Kirin when Winraf straight tanked Suzaku during chainspell, I didn't see how much dmg he took but a normal PLD even with Defending Ring won't survive 3-4 firagaIII/Flare/FireIV unless there are 100 whms spamming cures behind him.
Also the galka PLD in unicorn I personally saw him with Rotsu take 20-50 dmg from Nidhogg's breath (this guys doesn't have any shadow items) and Aspid hits him with 50-100dmg per swing :E
Are you stupid? For one, anyone can tank Suzaku during Chainspell because if you're a compitent LS you are stunning him, like Winraf ls was probably doing, so that he couldn't just SPAM spells.Originally Posted by Jhun
I won't touch your second paragraph.
As for my opinion, I think any improvement on a shield is a good improvement; especially when that improvement makes it significantly greater than any other shield in the game.
