Obviously the moogle rod is teh answer.
Well, I'll assume hes not bullshitting for the moment. He did mention something about someone from the fanfestival. Start looking at all the info from the FF. There might be something key to beating him in someones post.
I think this may be the best theory so far, next pop must be tried!Originally Posted by Soma
Edit: It's making more sense. Once you kill enough, he stops summoning and you are able to take his HP down quite a bit. Then he uses bene and resummons, so you have to kill more to weaken him more. and Maybe again at 10% or something, his hp decreasing the whole way
I think this is interesting. Unless I'm a complete moron (well, I am, but that is besides the point), it sounds like Odin's AV got to an overall lower max hp somehow.Originally Posted by Soma
Obviously the trick to beating AV is to hit it with a Moogle Rod repeatedly.
This was already addressed in the other thread and it being at 93% could mean anything from 93.00000000001% to 93.9999999999% which could make quite a differenceOriginally Posted by Soma
Then answer is: puppetmaster <.<
Simple math go!
14500 HP Benediction
93% - 207143 max HP
94% (93.99999%) - 241667 max HP
Either way it is quite obvious that his max HP was way over 200k.
If it was 93.99999% instead of 93.0%, meaning a hit away from 94%, it would just further prove the difference in HP between our AV and LB's AV. Hence, there must be a way to decrease its max HP.
93.0% -> 100% recovery with 14500 HP means AV, at that time, had around 207143HP
93.999999% -> 100% recovery with 14500 HP means AV, at that time, had around 241667HP
Unless my math fails, which often it does, that just further proves that there's a way to decrease AV's max HP. You're right that it can make a quite a difference only if it's just 0.99%. But it's still clear that there was more than 100,000HP difference between EDI's AV and LB's AV. That difference must be caused by something. Well, in case my math is wrong, just don't throw out the BG forum cards at me
EDIT: Above poster beat me to it. Since we have the same numbers, I guess I wasn't off xD
I can see AV being destroyed by the new jobs, like an army of BLU spamming 1k needles or bad breath or whatever that overpowers them endgame...Originally Posted by Gentaro
GMs are so fucking retarded -_- and the SE dev. team and such sucks ass :\ my friend has been upgrading his relic weapon. He went to trade 99+1 T.Whiteshells to get an L.Jadeshell. Then he sorted his inventory and his L.Jadeshell count went down to 1 from the 10 he had (after the trade). GM couldn't do anything, reported the bug to the technical people, they said he couldn't get anything back cause it was a rule of their's. I swear.. shit like this makes me want to quit FFXI.. cursed Expansion keeping my hopes up x.x
If anyone cares I have a few screenshots on my Blog (with a detail of the Benediction too), here's the link:

Bye.
If the stuff you're saying is true, that GM is blowing smoke out his ass. If nuking over the wall is an exploit, then nuking from the ledge while fighting tiamat is an exploit, using ledges avoid some of the xarc dragons' and dynamis lord's AoEs is an exploit, etc.
Go read pages 50-70 in the big AV thread, thanks.Originally Posted by Tahngarthor

Because Tiamat + DL + Dragons can run around the ledge and attack the mages. AV is stuck and can't run up and melee (which all non-rng, non-blm above 70% hp do) and therefore it's an 'exploit'.
Hi, this is Xmode from LB Odin,
Hmmmm, seems like you guys have been falling behind on some info,
so i'll try to explain what the GM was talking about.
During a Fan festival interview held in japan, the dev team was questioned
about AV and they answered that there was in fact a way to weaken its strenght and defense and it is very beatable.
Technically the GM was lying tho, since the site was JP and not NA =)
Here's the actual link if you can read japanese:

I think it was on thi very site somewhere is one of the many AV threads that someone said something abut a jp site that said, if you get three of his wynav down to low hp, it will weaken him. But i remember noone seemed to pay attention or respond to that particular idea. Next time someone pops AV, maybe have someone try this, do a ying yang like ga attack on 3 wynavs and then instead of killing at same time leave them at very low hp. See if there is any noticeable change to what abilities he can use and such. Not making any big claims about it ofcourse, in fact just talking about AV makes me feel completely ridiculous, but it would be cool to see someone beat him w/o a nerf.

Apparently you didnt read and pay attention. The point was brought up that there is a difference between nuking from the ledges vers Tiamat, DL, Dyn-Xarc. Dragons and using a completely blocked ledge vers AV.Tahngarthor wrote:

The difference is that Tiamat, the dragons, and DL can at any time run around and smash you to bits physically. AV in this case cant.
Its against ToS to attack a mob that cannot get to you b.c of a physical barrier. Please check the qoute in the thread, end of discussion.
