I dunno, I couldn't stand playing the game like that even if it stops macros from fucking up 'cause the game likes to ignore your keypresses at low fps.
I think he was referring to something like this?

One server got a few hundred people together to kill Sleeper and after much death and a long long time they were going to win. And a GM came and depopped it. Sleeper caused so much drama... They should never have put mobs in the game that were meant to be unkillable that you could damage, and they should never have put "1-time only" event mobs in the game at all.

wizerd i have 330 play days, and ive known you for all of them, and you my friend are a douchebag. idk how i didnt realize it when we were first friends on titan and everyone over there hated you, and i was like "Why?, you seem like a good guy" but i didnt know shit about endgame or what a little baby you were.

the fact is it was capable of casting on us and shooting us OR MAYBE it was actually a coincidence that it was only casting before we started doing our 'trick'. Either way beat it ANY WAY YOU CAN, pay off a gm, go to the dev team and hold guns to their head until they give you answers on how to beat it or whatever you want, then talk.

Yeah, look at how much damage the Twinkling Treants, those possessed samurai armors, the blitz buffalos, etc. caused in FFXI.

Well, if they stuck to their original wording... any server that did not kill all of the Treants would not receive the OP warp system. In the end all servers got it, but seem to recall one or two servers who did not meet the requirement but got the reward anyway.

I'd rather not fuel the fire, but I'm pretty certain that AV is near to impossible to kill for any LS without using that wall trick, unless there's another unknown way to weaken him substantially... Either way, there's a huge difference between an AV that can't attack anyone, and an AV that can. Whether it can use 2hours or not.

No offense meant, but it's the truth.

EDIT: Is it just me, or is the quote not working?

    EDIT2: Fixed, thanks Netz

I like that screenshot better... but I thought he meant FF7-like in terms of the shitty graphics >.> and not the font. My mistake.

Edit: Rukenshin, did you accidentially check "Disable BBCode in this post"?

i'm sorry but nuking it for an hour with no repercussions was cool the first time, and only the first time. don't get me wrong, it's nice that you were able to keep it exploited and get the kill just to say screw you SE, but to come around and be like ha fuck you we're not telling you our sekr3tz assholes. meh, not impressed.

I'm going to have to disagree with you here, and let's look at the facts for a minute. You start with a monster that 1. Can and will use all jobs 2Hs repeatedly; 2. Has instant-cast Aero 5, Aeroga 4, and Tornado 2; and 3. Has the fastest regen of any NM in the game.

Now I've been rereading this thread and the 80-page one, and reflecting on our pop last Saturday, and lets look at the experiences over the last week of Limitbreak, Apathy, and my LS, Kupo.

    1. We all got him to stop using 2Hs in his first (non-bracelets) form. Limitbreak did this after 4 hours of Shadowbinds, Apathy did this after bringing him to the wall, and we did it accidentally and--at the time--inexplicably within the first 5 min or so of our first attempt to fight him before conceeding ourselves to the wall. As for his second form, only Apathy was able to stop him again from using 2Hs, and that fact that we (Limitbreak and Kupo) weren't able to trigger this is the reason the wall exploit ultimately failed for us.

    2. Before their CFH, Limitbreak had also gotten him to stop casting these spells (see the title of their thread). If you read page 2 or 3 of this thread, people mention that he's not casting these for them either. And at some point about 20 min into the wall, AV stopped casting wind-based spells on us. At first we thought it we had found a 'sweet spot', a spot in the wall where he couldn't cast on us, but the more I think about it, the less likely it appears. For one, we lost hate a few times after that (including after our Mijin > Meteor zenmetsu at the end), and when people on the AV-side of the wall would pull it back, it wouldn't cast spells on them. We also had to reposition a couple times to get into casting range after those occurences (out of the 'sweet spot'), and it still never resumed casting. Furthomore, it would be the only case I could consider where you could cast on a monster, and it could not cast on you.

    3. I think it's been well documented over the last week, based on Benediction values vs. current AV HP% calculations, that AV doesn't regen at all (or very little indeed), and that for the first 40% of the fight you are experiencing a 'simulated regen' of his Max HP continuously lowering to meet his current HP.

So basically, if you can keep #3 in mind, and forcably trigger #1 and #2 at the start of the fight, and #1 again at 60% current HP, you've taken away the 2H spam, the wind spell spam, and the regen. You can take away the wall, too, because at this point all that's left to fight is a dragoon.

Look on the bright side, since AV was killed, there won't be any sudden lagging of the forums from all of the people wanting to read the thread, like when JoL was defeated for the first time, the forums were so laggy, but every JoL thread afterwards hasn't caused any problems, hope that makes sense.

I don't disagree with what you just said, but I think we're both talking about different sort of 'forms' of AV. I read through all of the pages in this thread, the other, as well as some of the other AV related threads on this forum.

In my first post that you quoted, although it's not really clear I'm mainly talking about the original AV... It's still unknown whether or not it's just a glitch when AV stops casting magic, since there isn't really any known cause that makes him stop, he just kind of seems to stop unexpectedly. An AV that's still spamming those magic attacks would be nearly impossible, as I first said...

But, even without those magic attacks AV alone is still pretty damn dangerous, can't forget that. He seems to hit harder than most other mobs I know of in the game (based on damage I've seen in screen shots), and while I'm not certain how well he can be debuffed that alone seems to make it incredibly difficult for anyone to tank it reliably. Kiting also doesn't seem to be an option, since as said by others it moves faster than the fastest possibly movement speed anyone can have. Just those two factors alone can get a lot of people killed in a very short time.

Either way, it's still an extremely difficult mob.

Reasons why AV is not "not meant to be killed":
    1. It fucking pops (Why would SE implement it in the first place if it wasn't supposed to be killed?)
    2. It's possible for it to go to 0% after seeing Apathy do so
    3. It doesnt stop at a certain % like Maat or the mission Ouryu
    4. It has "dying" text
    5. You can attack it
    6. It attacks you back
    7. It agros after popping
    8. It gives you a title after bringing its HP to 0%
    9. There are items that have yet to be found and the only logical place to get them is from AV

Nine good fucking reasons why AV is not "not meant to be killed"

The only ones i can think of for the opposing side are
    1. Its hard as fuck
    2. You have to "sploit" to kill it
    3. It didnt drop anything its first and only time being killed

Honestly, I can imagine the retarded arguements and speculations on AV's purpose if he's "not meant to be killed":
"Maybe its an inside joke with SE and they like laughing at AV owning everyone after JoL dies"
"SE probably messed up with coding it and its supposed to be a passive NPC"
"GMs get off to to the irony in seeing elitist drg-haters get the shit kicked out of them by a drg mob"

Seriously. Theres no debate whether AV is killable or not. And even if he wasn't supposed to be killed, what the fuck is his purpose then.

p.s. i'm leveling drg now cause AV is a drg and AV is awesome

p.p.s. j/k about the leveling drg thing, i already have it at 56 lawl

Rukenshin, I wholeheartedly agree that he can't be killed in a 'normal way' while he casts spells, or for that matter if any of the 3 things I listed before were the case. Really, the wall trick can't even be called a walk in the park while he's still nuking. But I'm disinclined to believe it's merely a glitch that he stops casting. Unlike 2Hs which stay down even when he's hate-free at the spawn point, his magic apparently resets, as when Limitbreak had to engineer him out of CFH status, and he resumed casting once they reengaged. Before their (Limitbreak's) attempts, nobody had held him up to the extent that he would have quit casting long enough for anyone to notice.

I'm not necessarily trying to say that AV wasn't meant to be killed, but I just find your points to be kind of weak... And, I'm pretty sure that most people are arguing that AV was not meant to be killed yet, big difference between not meant to be killed now.

    1) The fact that it pops alone is not a good enough reason... There are many other games that people have listed as examples in this thread, where a mob was added to the game that was not meant to be killed. It popped in all those games, but it was made clear it was not meant to be killed. Why do it? Who knows, but it has happened numerous times before.

    2) It was killed with what is believed by many to be an exploit, so it wasn't really brought to 0% using a legal method (no offense to Apathy). Unless you believe SE purposely designed Al'Teaiu the way it was so people would kill AV using the wall? Until someone kills AV without using this or any other exploit, this point is invalid.

    3) This has nothing to do with anything about AV... There's no mob in this game where the HP just stops going down, and that's it, no matter what you do it doesn't go any further and you're stuck there. In all instances of the HP not going down any further, you still consider it a win. It's not like you just hit a dead end and have no choice but to lose.

    4) This was already addressed by another poster... There's no reason why they shouldn't program them in. Obviously SE is not going to keep AV like it is now forever, eventually it will be nerfed or adjusted somehow, and made easier to kill. So why not have the title already installed as planned?

    5) Again, like #1, you could attack the other mobs that were not meant to be defeated in the other games as well. This is not a good reason.

    6) Again, just like #5 and #1.

    7) See #6, #5, #1... Being able to interact with it proves nothing, you could interact with those same mobs in the other games that were meant to be unkillable.

8.) Btw, you have two #8s... And see #4 for the explanation for this one.

    9) But they haven't dropped from AV, even when it was killed, so there is no real proof of this.

Sorry, I mean no offense but IMO those nine reasons don't really do much to support your view. Neither side can make a completely valid argument, it's all just assumptions and opinions based on different people's observations.

You sons a bitches...I'm so drunk right now... took me 30min just to register, much less the hours it took to read your childish prattle...

You are ALL, and I reiterate "ALL", forgetting one thing in your quest for supreme pwnership/whinership.

Square/SquareSoft/SquareEnix/SquareWTFE has ALWAYS been about mythology

Always. From the very beginning on Nintendo there have been not only references to Mythological Characters, but added "content" according to that myhtology, REGARDLESS of the culture.

Get a clue All of you.

The victory was GREAT! MAD props!

The no drop! So what! The title IS worth it, if the mob was THAT easy.

The strategy! Perfected by Apathy...just like Thomas Edison. All his middle men were left out of the history books.

The weakness! Samson fell from getting his hair cut. Goliath fell from a stone thrown by a teenager.

Who cares what they used and how it was accomplished. MANY "mobs" in mythology have been dropped by something so simple as a riddle, even after centuries of failed attempts. Everyone who played witness to this or is reading about the after effects shouls feel privelaged that they took part in the history of Vana'Diel.

And, quite honestly, if you don't feel privelaged about being part of history, then look in the mirror and /sea really hard for a reality check. Becaus after all is said and done, this is a game; a made up story; mythology. If you're going to base your opinion of what bragging rights should be in a story, then deal with the storyline.

Otherwise, write your own, and give credit where due to the authors and the sources.

Apathy's not at fault for using an enemies weakness to their advantage. That's called survival.

SE's not at fault for making a "broken" mob. Something seemingly invincible that gets felled by a stone should give nothing more than a title 100% of the time.

Quit being bitches, all of you. When all is said and done, It is just a game. You really need to treat it as such.
