I am never seeing another Wachowski brothers movie again lol. Wish there were a few more good fight scenes also. Did not like how they did V's character either.
The movie was really good, but you shouldn't take it too literally for today's political climate, since we clearly aren't at that police state... yet. There are talks of america's war in Iraq destroying America, but they aren't really fleshed out. If you view it as just a movie with the belief that "an idea is bulletproof," you'll enjoy it a lot. There's enough action in the movie.
No I read the comic asshat. You do not see how they basically butchered the plot to fit their own agenda. I may agree somewhat with their opinion too. But I feel it is weak in an artistic sense to try to sell your art through political means if you have to comprimise the original art you based your idea on.
If you can't get by on the art itself, you rely on adding some politics to make things more interesting. This movie was good enough without the political bullshit. I do not give a fuck what Hollywood's opinion is, regardless if it is the same as mine or not. If this was a movie that was all politics I could understand and watch it on that premise.
Yes the Patriot Act is a step towards police state lol..... not that big of a step though. I don't care what they Wachowski brothers think about it either, tell me an interesting story without your farfetched idea polluting the original intent of the source material.
Everyone keeps refering V to Equalibrium in philosophical sense. Here's a history lesson: Fahrenheit 451.
Regardless if movie wasn't up to par with comic book or not or action sequences were lacking. I found it had perfect balance between the two to make it decent movie.
Err, was that directed at me? I was just saying the movie is good if you don't take the political parts as too relevant. Wasn't really directed at anyon.e

George Carlin said it best: "Some people are really fucking stupid".
Somehow I doubt that this movie is anywhere near being comparable to Fahrenheit 451.Here's a history lesson: Fahrenheit 451.![]()
lol I said it was an entertaining movie. I just do not agree with the necessity of changing of the plot. In some movies it is necessary to change the plot of the comic, as comics are often silly and stupid. V for Vengeance wasn't stupid as a comic though, and the plot did not need that kind of alteration. That alteration was done for the sole purpose of pushing an agenda.
The original author of the comic pushed his political agenda as well (Margaret Thatcher and the UK). His was much more veiled, and he instead fleshed out characters 100 times more than the film. If you quote celebrities and follow the opinions of Hollywood, I would think you are one of those idiots who cannot think for themselves. Hard to argue with you guys when you have no fucking clue what I am talking about. In short books > movies anyway... and this comic was more of a graphic novel than a comic to be honest.
I understood when they changed the X-men, and I bitched some about the changes to Spiderman that were not needed. This "graphic novel" did not need that change to be honest. The not fleshing out characters is forgivable since the movie can't last forever. V was a much less likeable character in the comics tbh and they actually made him more human in the film. Not true to the comic, but a change that is easier to swallow for the sheepish Hollywood audience who wants their heros to all be someone they can relate to in one form. Can't have a totally inhumane killer as the hero who kidnaps a underage girl and brings her up to be his accomplice.
If you read both books, you would understand what I'm talking about. The similarities between the opression of thought and mindless drone mentality of the masses both are present along with harsh government conrolled state to supress any difference or individuallity.Originally Posted by Quicklet
The movie counterparts are no different idealogical sense and in that Equalibrium is far from being anything new, aside from fight sequences of course, but even that can be argued.
I can understand your frustration with the change of script Eternus, but I can also understand why they did it, which makes Wachavski(sp?) brothers seem like complete tools. Which I think they are. Book is more detailed if you ever want to read it and is ALOT different.
Neither was Equilibrium.Originally Posted by Quicklet

Fahrenheit 451 was a terrible book. And a terrible movie as well, I might add.
V for Vagina
but it was a good movie

Just saw it
They really inputted a political agenda in it, but then I realized its just a movie. Really liked the movie a lot though
I didn't read the comic, so as a result I absolutely loved the movie.
And yes Farenheit 451 is relevant, but to be totally honest Equilibrium is more relevant if you take into account the lies of the leadership and how not everything was banned, just most things.
And I thought Farenheit was a good book, but not quite as good as 1984.
1984 was an amazing book, had to read it in senior year, everyone in the class hated it... but I was gettin into heated disscussions with the teacher hahah it was awesome. The Ending was perfect. Orwell did an amazing job.
and I saw V tonight, I liked it... not sure if it was cause I have had the hugest crush on Nat Portman for ever, or cause it was sweet but I liked the movie.
I thought the ending of 1984 could have been better. I didn't feel very.. not sure of the word.. fulfilled?
Fahrenheit 451, hmm lol. It was okay. I actually remember doing a research paper on it, but I remember 1984 better lol.
IDK dude/(dudette?) The Entire book Winston said how he would NEVER fall to the government, he would NEVER again say he loved Big Brother... but after years of torture and pain... what did he say at the end? "I love Big Brother" then was killed... or so we are left to assume. The Government said that they would not kill him till he truly loved big brother.Originally Posted by Anyway
